Who is ready? 🙋🏼‍♀ Let’s do this together!! 💪🏻 ➡ FYI - I’m just going to be posting on Sundays throughout the month of January. I want to take some time to get settled & get back into a routine. I also want to take some time to reflect on my channel & how I can make it better for you. Without YOU, I wouldn’t have my channel. Responding to comments & communicating with all of you has always been VERY important to me & I don’t want that to change. You take the time to be here, I want to acknowledge you. I also want to make more KZfaq shorts/reels on “how to clean”. That way you have a place to go to when it’s time to clean your vacuum, your oven, etc. I want that info easily accessible & to the point so it’s actually helpful & not just buried in a 40 minute video. I’m thinking, brainstorming & just trying to be better. ☺ I’ll talk more about it in next Sunday’s video & ask for input. ❤ Thank you for continuing to be here & I hope you have a great week! I love your new home! I wouldn’t stress about so much gray. I believe it’s a great neutral foundation palette to start from. Once you add decor, and pillows, throws, rugs etc, it will warm it all up nicely. I agree with your love of gray, white, blues and wood tones. Have fun! I’m looking forward to watching the progress.

I completely agree with this. The grey cool colors and wood tones look beautiful in my opinion. Use your decorations to change the mood with colors. What is fun about that is if you get bored you can get new blankets/pillows/rugs/decor and change the whole feel of your house.

Totally agree. I think the neutrals look great together. As for the table being a different white, that can be painted so easily at any point, it's such a lovely piece, I'd just keep it and make it a project for another day.

The living room looks great! Monochromatic is soothing. If you want to add more color, you can do that with throw pillows, comfortable throw blankets, art, vases, and small additional furniture pieces like side tables, foot stools or chairs if they fit in the space and make sense. That makes it versatile. When you tire of any accent colors you bring in with small items, you can easily change those out. I love a monochromatic palette for the bones of the space.

Jamie, I think you have gotten a lot accomplished in a short amount of time. As for your couch, I think it looks very calming in the room. Put some pillows, throws and plants. It’s going to look great. Take a deep breath, take your time, enjoy your house.

I honestly love the couch the way you have it. You can always introduce color with throw pillows/blankets. Also curtains bring color into the room and aren’t crazy expensive. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Moving isn’t easy especially with young children. You are doing a fabulous job!!

This is exactly what I do. I switch out the pillow covers seasonally, along with the throws I keep on a blanket ladder. In the kitchen, I change out the towels with matching color schemes as in the living room and add small touches of color with mugs, spoon rests, sponge holders and place mats.

I agree. I think the LR looks great as is. As already mentioned, I would use accent pieces for a pop of color. You can even paint that little table 😊

Love how the house is coming together. You could always add color with throw pillows, artwork, area rug etc. It will all come together over time and it’s so smart that you are using things that you already had from your other house. I’ve been binge watching your older videos and I love them all! 😊

The nice thing about the living room is you can add color by blankets, pillows and accent or decor when you are ready. You are a powerhouse I swear when I get overwhelmed I get paralyzed and stressed. I can understand in the toy room with Mike I feel like that would have been me and my hubby too lol

Yes! That’s what I was going to say! A throw blanket and throw pillows in black and white would really tie your kitchen colors in and be beautiful! I’d just throw a quick coat of white paint in that table near the fireplace and call it perfect! :) So gorgeous! I love it all! You’re such a motivator! I just moved too, so we’re in this together! I was thinking the very same thing! Accent pillows and throw blankets! You can always chalk paint your table by the fireplace. Try switching the side of the fireplace it’s on. I personally love the room, the entire house is gorgeous!! You could even in time but a sofa table fir behind your sectional where the living room and kitchen meet. My daughter did that. It would give a warm tone, you could kind of match the color of your coffee table. I know, that’s down the road, but far cheaper than a new sectional. Just spitballing ideas for you. I’m so happy for you all❤❤❤❤

We built a house last year and it took a while to live in it, see how we use each space, and get a vision for each space. I think it’s so wise to wait and order things you know you’ll love long term and that makes sense for your family! The house came out beautifully, so excited to see your upcoming videos in it! 😊

Absolutely love the new house!! For the couch maybe get some navy blue throw pillows or blankets to throw over it to match the island! You could also add an area rug to break up the grey too! 💕 I’m so happy for you and your sweet family!

I was gonna recommend navy blue as well! Would look great with navy and white throw pillows and maybe a blue rug with different shades of gray and whites.

Hi Jamie! I’m loving how the kitchen looks so far! So designers often use the 60/30/10 rule when choosing colors. 60% is your base color - in your case, gray. 30% is a secondary color. You love blue so that can be your secondary. Then 10% is your accent color. You can change that seasonally. If you add some more blue to your living room it won’t look like too much gray anymore if that makes sense. Blessings, Arlene

Totally second this! I always encourage my family members (I do more decorating than everyone in my family lol) to chose your primary base colors whether it be natural wood, black, white etc and to pair them with your secondary style. And then last items are the seasonal things but I only choose decor that I can essentially dress up or down year round. For example I like like eclectic colors so I will usually do a neutral color like khaki beige and black with bright boho red prints. Currently our 60/30/10 rule is Green/ black/ and red/ gold…this sounds crazy but I pull them together. Like it makes sense when you walk around my home. We should tag each other with Jaime lol Share ideas 😊❤Maybe something all of sunbird could with her. Should make a Jaime’s Journey fan page!

Hey Jamie! I personally love the living room! I love that the sectional is facing towards the window so you can sit and look out. It also gives a little bit of separation from the other parts of your home. I think I would move the stand to the other side like your friends had mentioned. If the color difference bothers you, mb just paint it with some chalk paint. Also, if YOU feel there is to much gray, add an area rug that goes in the center of your sectional and under your coffee table. You can find machine washable ones online where you can just pull the cover off and throw it in. You could also add pops of color around the room to play off of any colors on the rug. Just some ideas. Hope this helps. ❤ From a fellow Ohioian!

I agree I love the lounge I don't think it's too much but completely agree to move table and also maybe a large fake plant in the corner where table with lamp is now. Darker throw blanket and darker or coloured cushions on couch will add some contrast and bring some colour too. I love your new house Jamie ❤️

Jamie take your time to get your new home in order. It will all come together in time. I love the wood floors. Like one of the other comments I read I can relate to her. I am 61 and you are truly an inspiration to me. I have lots of clutter to deal with and get so overwhelmed at times. But I really enjoy watching how kind and down to earth you are. You guys have been through so much lately and still you press on. I can relate to the feeling of being so tired but still needing to clean up. I feel that if I stop that momentum then I'm going to just crash and I may just put it off longer than I need to because somehow sleeping can make me more tired. It's the adrenaline and running on empty but the body keeps moving because of all the new possibilities and excitement. You're truly a supermom. I don't know how you did it all!

I love gray! The living room looks great as is. If you wanted you could add pops of blue or teal pillows and you could even paint that little table light blue or teal to make it more cohesive. Keep doing what makes you happy!

I work at a paint store, and one thing I always like to mention when it comes to gray is it allows you to bring more color in with accents like throw blankets, pillows and rugs. While it can make for a colder space it allows much more freedom with color expression. Also, something that might bring some warmth to the main living space is a rug. I know rugs on a rug can be cringy and not everyone’s cup of tea, but if it’s done right you’ll add a lot to your space, without spending to much! I love the entirety of your new space and cannot wait to see more!

Everything looks great!!! To balance out the grays, before changing up any big items, I would recommend bringing in some warmer wood tones and accents like a warmer wood coffee table and maybe some different throw pillows/ blankets and other decor and such. Then if you still feel it’s too much gray, you can go from there, but that might help give you a better idea of the balance you personally like before committing to anything huge. (Plus if you keep the receipt and shop at places with easy returns like Target or Costco, you can return anything that doesn’t work for you!)💞

For color: toss pillows and blankets, curtains, wall decor, lamps, greenery. * I also organize my clothes based on “weather/season”. (I live in the mitten.) Beautiful home, Jamie❤

I agree, put the couch in basement when it’s finished and I would do a brown couch. Brown leather couches look really nice. Paint the little table white or a water washed (water down Paint rag table) so distressed look..Also can Paint walls in kitchen & living room light blue color, but leave cllor you have in entry, hall, common areas or most other rooms you have grey already. Beautiful home, great start 😍abd pieces to work with, can always change color on furniture and some walls.

I like it the way it is. Bring in color with accents. You have a neutral palette . Add colorful throws and pillows. Colorful art for the walls. The couch is perfect the way it is. You want the focal point to be the windows. The house is beautiful, all the best for happy memories! ❤

I think that your colors are great! It's such a nice neutral. You can use so many colors . Use your blues and whites now. Than you can put in a silver sage or a blush. Black can spark up a room. Plants will help fill in.

Jamie, you have done an amazing job in a short period of time. As for all the gray- allow yourself grace- it will come together eventually as you add decor with some color and wood tones and the soft stuff like curtains, pillows, blankets, etc and then the hard decor like frames, vases, etc. Here’s a hint for all of you if you move from a retired military spouse who moved 17 times in 23 years: focus on the kitchen, one bathroom and the bedrooms first- make sure the pots and pans, utensils and basic pantry staples are first unpacked, the one bathroom needs some towels, bath items, to, toothbrushes, the bedrooms need just the beds set up and made up and basic clothing for a week or two. The key is making sure to pack and label those boxes like Kitchen First, Bath First and Bedroom First labeling the bedroom boxes with each persons name- this means those boxes are your only priority the first few days. Then, unpack one box before moving to another box in one area- finish the area to unpack before moving on to another room. With small children make sure there is one box of toys to unpack immediately in one room. And labeling boxes is the most important thing of the entire move along with putting painters tape on each room door with the name of the area like Living room, family room, Master bedroom, name of each child’s room on boxes and the door frame of child’s room- all this labeling helps who ever is moving you to take the boxes to the right room and stops you from having to hint for boxes and haul them to the right room.

Hi Jamie! You guys are superstars!!! To have to say goodbye to your grandparents and then move and unpack must have been so overwhelming. I hope that you were able to get more settled in so that you can rest. I’m sure it will help when your kids go back to school too. Everything is looking beautiful so far. I always want to get new stuff when I move but I force myself to live with things for awhile to see how we are using the space and what makes sense. Can’t wait to see your next video!

I’m so excited to see your new house! For the side table, you could paint it white. For the couch you could get a lovesac and you can arrange the furniture different ways to fit your space. They have different covers for your couches. I love to watch unpacking and organizing! I am in the process of decluttering my house for 2023.

Ideas…. Girl, I love that couch in that living room! Super clean…add some sage and white throw pillows on that couch and a hanging low key green plant that loves neglect in that corner next to the window with the white shelf thing you like and pull it all together. Gray is a great foundation (even in the dining room…luv the table…fake plant for the kids in the middle of it…maybe even a cheap live plant they can kill or overwater 😅) for an earthy look that welcomes and relaxes all. You just gotta play it up with some “minimalists with a purpose” goods and it always makes the house look cleaner like you love! You got this!

An area rug, white shear curtains, decorative pillows and throws on the sectional will break up the grey color without changing the couch. Once you hang artwork and whatnot on the walls, that will help too.

You’re getting your home together pretty quickly. When we moved it took about 3 days before we even thought about officially unpacking the place and putting things back together lol. How exciting to move into fresh new place! When I remodeled my kitchen last year, I bit the bullet and did the Home Edit. It takes effort to put everything into a new container, but now I know exactly what I have.no more empty boxes in the pantry. I put cans on a lazy Susan, and can see at a glance what I need. You've already done so much in such a short time! It is so overwhelming moving and finding new homes for every single thing. We moved over the summer, and it is definitely a process! I don't hate all the gray. Maybe eventually get a different color when you move this one to the basement, but I would start with maybe some darker blue throw pillows? I was a ruggable person for so long and saw that Sams Club had a line called everwash rugs and their runners are amazing! You just throw them in the wash and they are good as new. They are also so soft. Just a suggestion

It’s true, I have a twin sister my parents gave us our own rooms I want to say when we turned 8 or 9 my sister would come sleep in my room in the middle of the night so they put us back together until we 12. Jamie, when I moved to Georgia, I got my kids rooms done first just to get them settled. I know it is extremely hard to move but my priority was getting them a place to sleep and play with their toys and stuff. Then, I got my kitchen done the way I wanted it so I could find what I needed to get meals on the able for my family. Then our bedroom was a must to be able to get our own rest. It all came together in time because we had nobody to help us move in and help get settled. Our family were all in Cincinnati. You will get it done just cut yourself some slack. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. I just found your channel and I loved it! 46:05

For the living room I agree it is a lot of grey. Perfect idea to move it downstairs once it is done. I would do two chairs on each side to still give the openness and view out the windows with a couch. So total 4 chairs and 1 couch. Maybe creme coloured couch and dark grey chairs. Something with some texture!

Completely new to your channel. But l can see I’m gonna enjoy it! Too much grey? Nope! Just add pops of color with rugs, blankets, pillows. My living room is all gray as well. What I love about it is in the different seasons and holidays I can add colors appropriate to the seasons. Most important is you do you. What do you like and what makes you feel like your house is homey - thats’s what counts. Sooo much potential and what fun is the process? Make sure you enjoy it all.

Congratulations for moving into your new home. I loved the old house but I adore your new home. Moving house is definitely physically and mentally and emotionally draining plus on top of having your grandparents funeral to go through its no wonder you were feeling tired etc. My mum used to say that moving house was like a grieving process so you had a double grieving process. So happy for you and looking forward to seeing your video's of your house coming together, also when you showed the rooms with all the boxes etc, I always remind myself that if I can grab a cuppa and heat a meal up in the kitchen and sit on a seat for a few minutes and clear walkway to the bed to fall into then then the rest will come together eventually . I feel like I've been on this home building journey with you for the last couple of years. I won't lie, I definitely teared up watching your last video in your former home, especially when you showed flashbacks to you cleaning while pregnant and with Aubrey and the twins when they were really little. For the living room, I think I would do two cabinet/sideboard/buffet type things (one on each side) in a navy. It's dark but I think with the rest of the room being light, it would look good. Then you can store family games or blankets in them.

I love the grey for the walls. It looks like a doll house. I personally love it. The couch looks fantastic in the living room. I agree with ur friends that table would look better on the opposite side of the wall bc there’s more space there and it look less closed up. Also I think the grey decor and walls looks expensive and modern. I like how the grey couch matches the wall it looks like they belong together and looks cohesive.

When you move it take months before you figure things out and what works and what does not. It was 1 year and I think I still had boxes. You know ppl understand. Jamie, I love the gray and white. You can accent with so many colors and change the look. It is so calming! But live with it and you will see what you really what and works
