I love the alder wood. I prefer traditional wood tones. I think you should use a warmer toned wood floor. The gray look will be dated in a few years, in my opinion.

I love the black and white tile for the shower. I would be afraid of slipping on the shiny marble tile.

Just keep in mind from a cleaner shiny tiles are very hard to keep clean and you can see every single streak every single hair and they are slippery when wet

Using the shiny tiles on the bath floor may be a slipping hazard with wet feet. Typically floor tiles aren’t glossy finish, they’re more matte or they’re textured.

Things are coming along nicely- I would just like to point out that when we redid our bathrooms and kitchen we were told by our tile professionals to never use anything shiny for our floors- slipping hazard, at the end of the day it is your home- just be careful.

Oh my goodness, that’s the exact quartz we are getting in our kitchen!! It is sooo beautiful!!! Yes, you don’t want that shiny slick tile on your bathroom floor. You won’t be able to stand up in there! As far as the wood for your kitchen vent hood and the shelving, it needs to be a little closer to your floor color, in my opinion. The tile you chose is lovely but any shiny surface is going to present a major slip hazard on a floor. Shower pan tile should be smaller, the grout helps to keep the floor from being hazardous when wet. We just remodeled our master and these are some of the things I had to consider, especially since we plan to age in place in our home. Your house is going to be beautiful when it’s done, can’t wait to see it!

Kailyn, your new home is beautiful! Make sure you love the wood tone for the range hood and shelving. We built our forever home 23 yes ago. Back then oak was in so now we had to go with a darker wood floor that has very little oak color in it but we were able to pull that oak color out of the flooring. It is very warm and cozy. Darker woods are coming back. There are some things I wish I would have made sure I loved instead I just settling! Can’t wait to see your beautiful home come together!

I was considering a textured tile for our bathroom, but my mother reminded me that texture has a tendency to trap dirt and be more difficult to clean. As I most definitely do not enjoy cleaning, practicality is winning out at the moment, so I’m still on the hunt for a good bathroom tile. It’s been fun watching your house come together!

Great lighting choices...for the lanterns, go with Edison type bulbs. The flames may look weird since the bulbs hang DOWN in the fixtures

I feel your struggle picking tile, very hard. I searched videos on modular and manufactured home watched to see what tile bathrooms looked like. Your very lucky to have handy husband and dad who are willing to help. So excited for lighting to go up, it going to be beautiful.

I’d steer clear of shiny tile on the floor. It will be slippery when wet. Have you thought about a matte white 1” hexagon for your shower floor? It would look nice with those big subway tiles. We used Emser Tile - Cosmopolitan Crystal Porcelain 12x24 tiles on our bathroom floors with dove gray grout. The tile is a perfect subtly gray/white color. Check it out…not sure if they still have them since we built our house 3 years ago, but worth a look. It’s so fun to watch as you guys build…brings back so many fun memories of my husband and I building our last two houses. So fun! 😊

Won't it all be so worth it once everything is done...all the hard work you guys are putting in. Black trim really nice and outside of the house looks great. The floor with cabinet door not too sure was coming off really orange but it's what you guys like in the end that matters. Love all the fixtures you picked so far as well. Tfs

It's looking great. I would go with the mat tiles on the floor. I agree about the slipperiness. I would get the smoother tiles for the backslash. I have tumbled marble and it seems like it's hard to keep clean with all the pock marks.

I like the floors you picked up very much, not so much the orange wood tone wood for kitchen. Love the big tiles for bathroom floor and not so much the stars for shower (it reminds me of an american flag). But you have a great taste, I am sure the final result will be breathtaking.

Love the textured white tiles for backsplash! I picked an almost identical wood look floor tile as what you have chosen for your flooring and loved it (although the matte finish looked like the floor was always dusty, which it wasn’t 😊) I agree with others that the bathroom tile for shower area could be different, but you have to live with it…. Deciding these things is hard! Best of luck on all future decisions.

I also love the white marble only concern I have is that floor when it gets wet going to be a problem??? Allen and roth make every nice products!!! I personally like the oak floors that are through out the home but the hood wood color I dont care for. It comes off as orange on camera. I would definitely recommend another color ,maybe a different material even like copper??? That would be beautiful and timeless! I personally think that painted brick is beautiful for the backslash of the kitchen! I hope this helps!!! Remember to go with your gut!!! If your kinda on the fence try other choices!!! The hood wood is really super orange, while the floor is so much cooler.

You'll love the quarts countertops. Easy cleanup I wash mine down with soft soapy dish cloth and wipe down with soft cloth. I also Windex them down. I didn't want something you had to maintain by sealing it. Just make sure a hot dish has a hot pad under it. House is coming along. When do they expect to be complete for you to move in?

I like the whiter hexagon floor tile and then do a dark grey grout. No on the farmers quilt tile

Hi Kailyn! Wow! You guys are saving a ton of money doing so much of the house yourselves! It's great you and your husband/parents are so handy! Personally, I would go with a slightly darker wood for the range hood. I think you could since your walls are going to be very light. I also think it will pick up the lighter color of the lights over the island. I think you want it to pop and I'd be worried the sample has too much orange. But colors that we are seeing may be different than what you see. I like the color for the flooring. The light fixtures are all so beautiful. I think they are all going to look so good. The siding looks good too. I do like the textured back splash the best....painted brick I think you called it. I think that is beautiful and it gives it an almost stucco consistency. It's getting very exciting now! You all are working so hard to get it done and I'm hoping you are seeing that you are getting closer to the home stretch!

All the sweat equity allows you to spend more on the finishes. I think the wood is too orange for the floor but after installation, they won’t be so close to each other. 🤔

It’s all so exciting! I love living vicariously through you. Lol. From watching all your previous videos, the floor color against the shelf/range hood wood color doesn’t look like your taste. Independently they look good, but I think the wood has too much orange to complement the floor. Love your light fixture choices - I have the same black chandelier over my dining table. (Purchased off Amazon last year for $70.)

Love the pendent lights u choose for over your island. The color of them will go very nicely with the flooring you chose. I'm not so sure about the orange color for the hood .That is definitely a color from the 70s doesn't go well with your floor color.Everything is coming together nicely.

Love the wood floor color but the wood for the hood is the wrong tone. Need to pull brown tones not orange. Didnt care for the shower floor tile but loved the taller narrow tile second one on the right (it was a bit creamier) was my favorite.. Can't wait to see the out come. Such an exciting time for you!

Kailyn love your update ! It’s all coming together.. except the wood coloring doesn’t go with the flooring . Just a thought, not sure what color your cabinets will be but you know the color of the basket lamp , I would have the color match that or close to it.

The shiny tile might show every water drip /stain - so it will be a pain to keep clean! Also try if they would be slippery?! (You can also drip some water on the sample and let it sit for a while and see how it looks - as I think drips from the shower and around the sink). I am not a fan of the shower floor tile 😬. Love the wood floor, and I agree with you that hood/shelf color is a bit too orange 🤔. Love all the light fixture choices!

From someone who has shiny concrete on the floor and matte tile… the matte tile is a pain to clean… but I have completely slipped (as have my kids) and hit my head on the concrete with wet feet..but overall safety probably should win 😄🤓

Go white kitchen cabinets and walnut color shelves and hood 👍🏽 bigger tile means less grout to clean 🤔
