I personally prefer the Ikea large Billy bookcase with the display cabinet doors over the Detolf for a few reasons: More shelves due to greater height and shelf height adjustable, easier to install and conceal lighting wires etc and a more sealed fit against dust, better UV protection as items only exposed from the front (Better for vintage toys), choice of colours and wood OR glass shelves. The Detolf is only really better if you have very large items to display or want 360 degree viewing inside the case.

Awesome I have about 200 Mego Figures from the 70’s and a Large Evel Knievel Collection. Still stored in boxes. I need a cool Display with Lighting

You can’t go wrong with detolf cabinets, especially for the price!

I have the same cabinets and lighting, one big problem I had was the lighting starts to fall off over time, the weight of the light strip just slowly detaches it and once it's come off the stickiness is greatly reduced so they never stick on well after that. My solution was to run the lights vertically on the side in the corers.

I’ve recently restarted collecting wrestling figures and have been looking for display ideas. I also have Funko pops so I was wondering what would be the best way to display both together. Really dope setup, thanks for sharing!

Hello... Did you consider putting something black on top of each shelf? so it can hide the backside of the led strips?

I had originally wanted to do that but when the lady at hobby lobby cut everything wrong I only recut the backdrops. I still have the extra felt but haven’t had the patience or energy to cut them to size yet lol.

Any idea how much weight the shelves can hold? I love the look of these and want to use it to store my records but worry they'll be too heavy for the glass shelves

The weight limit for each shelf is 13lbs.

I dust proofed my detolfs so I rarely have to dust if ever. Soft makeup brushes work very well though!

What shelves are you using above the Detof shelves for your funko pops and where can I get them at?

They are custom made. I bought everything from my local hardware store. 1 x 8 board, black paint, and used 1” galvanized pipe for the brackets.

I got a bunch of these. NEVER buy from sellers online. Ive seen them going as high as $200+. These are like $60 from the Ikea store.

How did u hide the wires especially that 4 way connection ?

I ran the wires a long the metal frame and then out the front door and underneath the base. The adapters were hid behind the detolfs. Hope this helps!

I've been considering getting a few of these for my Warhammer and vintage miniatures collection, but I keep reading about them spontaneously exploding, any concerns on your end?

No concerns on my end. Most of the time they explode because of too much weight. When assembling, it warns you to not over tighten which can lead them to breaking. I also don’t put any weight on top of the cabinets and don’t overload the shelves.

@@thejediknightswatch Overtightening could be a real problem, I'm an electrician and we tend to put a lot of ugga-dugga on our screws and bolts. My finger-tight is almost as much as some folks wrench tight.

Yes they are cheap, but that’s why they are so popular. One day i may upgrade but for now they work great. I also am making sure to not exceed the weight limit for each shelf and not putting anything heavy on the top.

great deal but honestly if you have the tools and the time plus a little carpentry know how thanks to KZfaq diy, you could have made your own cabinets for much less with more space.
