Hello Jake, you have several very interesting videos, thank you. I'm a member of the mast cell club and still have SIBO H2S and I have noticed something: If I take Thiamine (B1) in high doses, for example Benfotiame 1500 mg a day, with TTFD 500 mg a day, several of my symptoms improve or nearly disappear, such as extreme fatigue, dysautonomia like cold hands and feet, tingeling in the hand and feet, nerve pain, burning feet, dizzyness etc. I have also noticed that it improved my allergic reactions as well. I asked myself why do I need so much Thiamine for improvement if the RDA is about 1 mg a day. I googled and found that Dr. Antonio Costantini from Italy did several studies that high dose Thiamine therapy helped patients in Fibromyalgia (an illness that seems very similar to MCAS),, in CFS/ME, in inflammatory bowel disease, even in multiple sclerosis and parkinson's disease. Most patients reported severe improvement in fatigue, brain fog, dizzyness, dysautonomic symptoms like cold hands and feet. I also found this article "Hydrogen Sulfide Produced by Gut Bacteria May Induce Parkinson's Disease": pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35326429/ I also found out that Elliot Overton mentions in this article www.eonutrition.co.uk/post/got-sibo-here-s-why-you-need-to-get-your-thiamine-status-checked that it is possible that Thiamine status is negatively affected in hydrogen-sulfide dominant SIBO. He mentions that it is well established that sulfite (an intermediate in hydrogen sulfide metabolism) can destroy thiamine. The sulfite ion is capable of cleaving thiamine at its methylene bridge, rendering the vitamin ineffective. Hence, because hydrogen sulfide influx into the cell may result in higher sulfite concentrations, this could place intracellular thiamine stores at risk for degradation. In support of this, in vitro data shows that sulfide reduces the concentration of thiamine in white blood cells. Furthermore, veterinary data shows that excess dietary sulfur coupled with a subsequent rise in hydrogen sulfide production increases the requirement for thiamine in the brain and central nervous system and can eventually lead to secondary thiamine deficiency. Additionally, thiamine supplementation was shown to protect animals against sulfide toxicity, which suggests that excess hydrogen sulfide does indeed negatively impact the integrity of thiamine. It was recently discovered that the vagus nerve, an important part of the autonomic (automatic) nervous system, modulates the immune response. Thiamine is VERY important for nerve function in general and for the Vagus nerve. That would explain why the MCAS symptoms worsened while you had H2S Sibo. There is another connection: Histamine liberators are for example: Coffee, Alcohol, Chocolate, Smoking Things that deplete Thiamine are for example: coffee, alcohol, chocolate, smoking kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j5t4oJufvtOonas.html In this video, around the 4:45 Dr. DiNezza talks about Visceral Hypersensitivity and that research shows that there are mast cells that are either too many many or are too active and she asks the question if the Hydrogen Sulfide is degranulating mast cells - hmmm..... too many mast cells or mast cells that are too active - hello MCAS! With my findings above, I would say it isn't the Hydrogen Sulfide that is degranulating mast cells - I would say it is the Vagus nerve because of the Thiamine deficiancy which is caused by the Hydrogen Sulfide. That also explains why, for example, people with Parkinson's disease see improvement with supplementing high doses of Thiamine - because of Thiamine deficiancy caused by Hydrogen Sulfide. Even if you don't have H2S SIBO anymore, maybe supplementing with Thiamine will still improve your MCAS symptoms, especially regarding fatigue (generating energy in form of ATP via the mitochondria requires Thiamine) or if you have dyautonomia symptoms like dizzyness, cold hands and feet etc. In several videos on his channel, Elliot Overton also mentions that a Thiamine deficiancy can lead to SIBO because the autonomic nerve system which controls stomach acid, bile flow and the mmc, is dysfunctioning. It seems it could be a "hen and egg problem" - which one is first? Thiamine deficiency that leads to SIBO or SIBO-H2S that leads to Thiamine deficiancy. I've gotten rid of SIBO five times in the last years (didn't know about H2S back then) and they ALWAYS came back for me, which was pretty frustrating. The first time with pharmacological antibiotics, the second and third time with herbal antibiotics and the last two time with elemental diet. All worked, but the SIBO always came back. I hope that the missing link (at least in my case) is the dysautonomia, because I was having cold hands and feet for at least 20 years and extreme dizzyness for 15 years. I can't rememeber when the nerve pain and the tingeling and numbness in the hands and feet started. Because if it is a dysautonomic nervous system that causes my SIBO, that may be fixed with Thiamine and maybe I'm getting rid of my SIBO at last. Best regards Stefan

I wish I gotten to this sooner! I definitely think every single doctor who treats Bartonella etc. should test almost every single patient for SIBO because the antibiotics do overlap but not 100% and in my case, which of course is an anecdote, I was way too sick from the SIBO to treat the Bartonella so the SIBO had to go first

Just came across your vibrant videos. Are you SIBO-free yet? Did you ever give the Elemental Diet alone a chance or combined with Rifaximin? I just went through it and it was one of the most difficult diets I've ever tried, and I've tried them all. Amino acids taste absolutely horrific 😂 I was unaware of that IMO could be the main cause of IBS-C symptoms and it took me years before I tested for it, showing a massive methane production which the little bastards must feed from because I rarely pass that methane out...🤨 Currently on no-carb no-fiber diet with herbal anti-biotics and Ibergast. If I test positive again, I must do Rifaximin I guess. Peace (for our stomachs one day).

@BartonellaBabe
@BartonellaBabe Жыл бұрын
great question! I got to ask Dr. Pimentel a similar question in an interview that will be coming up soon but some of the organisms that cause SIBO are more pathogenic than others. For example, Campylobacter is more pathogenic than E. coli in causing SIBO so that is one factor (of many) that determines why some people get sick and others don't. Other factors include genetics, infectious dose (like literally the load of pathogens you ingested), how severe the food poisoning was, and underlying health conditions that the patient may or may not know about
