NEW INSTALL Sprockets Chain and Cush Rubber On A Royal Enfield Himalayan Motorcycle

Today I replace the Sprockets, Chain and Cush Drive on my Royal Enfield Himalayan Motorcycle in preparation for my upcoming trip to Europe. Last year I installed a 16 tooth front sprocket with a 525 pitch 112 link chain. Unfortunately it seems I over torqued the sprocket. Watch how I get it off using Archimedes principle of leverage.
This time I'm going back to original gearing with a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 525 110 link X Chain from JT.
This video might be useful to any one looking to replace chains and sprockets regardless of motorbike brand.

Ever had issues removing sprockets? What's your chain of choice? X Ring..O Ring..Brand?

Reynolds,posh gold one if available. I'm lucky,I bought a wee battery power impact driver from Aldi,works a treat. Did have to buy adapters from Amazon to get it to take the half inch sockets. Old style hand operated impact driver worked fine before I got the leccy one.

Cant get the front spocket off for the life of me. Broke the sprocket too that i have. Wheel just slips when holding brake w abs off. Going to have to cut the nut. Jt chain 14 t sprocket torqued to spec.

I'm about to do the same with my 2021 Himalayan at 20,000 kms. A sharp reminder from yesterday's ride out when my mate's Himalayan chain literally snapped en route!

Perfect timing! I have a chain and sprocket kit en route since my current chain is stretching badly due to cracked and lost o-rings.

Proper job…you can really see the wear and ‘hooking’ on the front sprocket. How many miles had that one done?…planning my change now for gearing / top end reasons.

Jebus!,a beardy guy has ate Martin and is using his voice. My cush drives had nearly an inch of play after just 2k miles. Not replacing them twice a year. Mountain bike inner tube,cut into sections that fit the lugs on the sprocket carrier. Fixed for free,and if they compress I'll cut another set of inner tube sections.

Haha aye face fur mate. Sometimes the Cush just don't last eh. I'm changing them around the 10k miles mark. Good call on the inner tube.

I've had a lot of problems with rubber items from India. Quiet at the back!. Carb manifolds,airbox to carb rubbers,perish after a very short time. Weird,ye'd think India would have rubber down to a T.

@@k1ckyscotland988 Yes a lot of the rubber is dry rotting on my 1 year old RE, fork tube covers fuel/ vent lines ect......

Great stuff! Just about to check my chain and oil etc at 1300 miles. Found a missing bolt on the exhaust (how) and fitted a sidestand extender, lucky had a block of wood with me. P.s Adv fest the route was too advanced n wet. Guys were coming off everywhere except the enduros.

Seems RE parts don't last. Swapped my Himalayan for a Honda SH350i. After a few delays, off to Portugal tomorrow. Hoping not to have problems, as did last trip. Green Flag breakdown cover is the only mechanical ability I have. Enjoy your trip.

Great video thanks for posting. Got to do mine soon. Thinking about a bigger rear sprocket for better off road low power riding as this bike is never going to be fast so thinking of going low? Thoughts please people.
