This is very good! There is the classroom aspect of it that isn’t covered but mentioned. This is an excellent example of qualifying for your CCW. Tony great job!!

Great Video. A lot of help. I am requalifying for my Concealed Carry permit. I have all the paper work completed just have take the Requalification test next week. Once that is done how do I get the paperwork to the NJSP? When I scan any of my info into my computer via my printer to my desktop I get a PDF file. Is that what goes to NJSP? Or is there a way of sending all the paper work in sequence directly to NJSP thru my computer? How do I do that?

Hello! The paper application is no longer accepted. You apply directly online through the NJSP website. You'll upload the file directly to the portal.

Where can I get a copy of the new instructions for applying to get Concealed Carry Permit. Matt's video says there are loads of them at GFH. I have been there practicing numerous times and cannot find the paper work for the new instructions he mentioned in his latest video.. Also, he indicated that we need to submit our applications to our Local PD Chief for processing along with the $50 and $150.. Is that still correct? What is the best time to come to GFH to see Matt? I have been there usually at 12 noon but could not find him. Thanks, Huxley

Huxley, the instructions are on gunforhire.com/njccw. Scroll down to Step 5 to apply via the NJSP website. You'll pay $50 when you apply via the NJSP portal. Your town will contact you with directions on how to pay the $150 to the town. The process is overall much easier than it was in 2022. The instructions we have at the range bring you to the website listed above. Start at Step 5 and youll be all set!

I guess you are saying I start at the NJSP portal and I can manually do the typing inside the portal ? If so how does all my external data (photos, passport, driver license, and Completed NJ CCW Qualification Course and Firearms Instructor qualification form) get into the portal? I would hope that I could access the portal & find the blank SP-642 and & SP-066 forms and fill them out in the Portal but then how do I get my 4 references into the portal unless I can access the back of the SP-642 form inside the portal and then manually type in all my references onto the form? Is that basically how it is done? Also, what or how can I get the Notary & Signature indicated for the SP-642 Form and how to give the $200 money order to the NJ State police and lastly do I just bypass my local Paterson PD?

The process is different, you no longer need a notary. You can take a photo with your cell phone and upload the photo and the SP182 form to the portal.

You only have to qualify with one pistol. You can carry all of your firearms.

Maybe asked and answered. You need to use a IWB or OWB to qualify, correct? After qualification can you use any type of holster?

This is what the State requires: **h. For purposes of this section, “holster” means a device or sheath that securely retains a handgun which, at a minimum, conceals and protects the main body of the firearm, maintains the firearm in a consistent and accessible position, and renders the trigger covered and inaccessible while the handgun is fully seated in the holster. (cf: P.L.2018, c.37, s.1) This is what we allow in the range: Concealment Holster Must be strong side holster [IWB/AIWB/OWB are allowed] - no cross-draw, shoulder holsters, pocket holsters, sticky holsters, ankle holsters , or belly-band style holsters. You must draw from concealment, if carrying OWB, your shirt must cover the firearm.

last question I hope. I already have a Concealed Carry Permit expires in October. I am applying to renew my Concealed Carry Permit. Do I still need to get fingerprints again?

You shouldn't need to. Some departments are requiring it.

No, this course is for civilians. RPO is a different qualification.

I took this course October of 2023 and passed. I then emailed the Detective in the town I live in and the judge that signed off on my permit since my permit was judge issued. When I renew sometime in July this year, do I have to resend my qualification record again or when I requalify next year?

When you reapply, you will have to submit the training records from 10/23 with the online application.
