Richie the Boot was a home movie aficionado filming or having someone film the estate, Newark’s First Ward events, family gatherings, weddings and this vintage one of his wife Jennie’s Funeral in October of 1946. There were 31 flower cars and 50 limousines carrying mourners from Megaro’s Funeral Home to St. Lucy’s Church in the heart of Newark’s Old First Ward. According to one newspaper report, it was one of the “most elaborate funerals Newark has seen in years” attended by gang leaders, city officials, politicians and celebrities including baseball great Joe DiMaggio.
