New Kia Ceed Review and 600 Mile Road Trip

We have the Ceed 1.5L T-GDi 3 on review, and we have also had the chance to take it on a 600 mile road trip!
The Ceed was the first model in Kia's range to be designed, engineered and built in Europe specifically for European and U.K. roads - and the clue is in the name, as CEED stands for:
Community of
Europe with
European
Design
Available at the moment are the 3 and the GT Line, both with a 1.5L Turbocharged Petrol Engine, and prices start at £24,500.00.
Safety features include:
• High Beam Assist
• Driver Attention Warning
• Leading Vehicle Departure Warning
• Lane Keeping Assist
• Forward Collision Avoidance Assist
• Cyclist detection
There are also other members of the Ceed family if this hatchback doesn't quite suite your needs. You can choose from the:

Another great road trip. The car is lovely too. Though, if I was being picky, I prefer the older grille. I hope they don’t phase this model out for a long while. Oh that xjs was sexy, plus you got me looking for a balloon. Was it blue? lol

You mentioned a couple of times that it can be a bit noisy on rougher motorway surfaces - how bad is that, does it begin to bother you at all? I’m looking to buy my 2nd car - currently driving a 2013 Kia Picanto so my gut feeling is any newer family hatchback will be a lot quieter than that on a motorway 😂 what do you think?

Yes, we have to be ultra transparent otherwise we’re hunted 😆 it’s not bad except on crap roads and even an RR with cloud suspension would make noise. Take one for a drive and report back, your Picanto may just… be a little louder 🎧 Thank you Joe

I'm looking at the 1.5 isg 2 , the Corsa 1.2 ultimate 130 turbo and Nissan Juke 1.0 n connect, which would you recommend please

The isg 2 is the Kia Ceed entry , it goes 2 then 3 then GT

Overall the KIA Ceed is a pretty good car. But I have a few minor niggles. On the one hand in terms of refinement and smoothness the engine occasionally strikes me more as a 3-cylinder than a 4-cylinder version. It sounds a bit raucous. On the other hand the gear ration could be wider, especially on the autobahn. Other than that there is not much to find fault with. It is a decent car.

How was the stop start ?we have a ford and everytime the stop start restarts it shakes the whole car

That sounds very wrong, we’ve never experienced that in any stop / start system.

@@PlanetautoUK i took it too ford and they said everything was fine its not the best system at all works when it wants too Ford told me lack of use but i do over 200 miles a week

@@GameWithViiP3R oh, strange - test one of these and you’ll be able to see how it should act - we’ve a new Isuzu 1.9 diesel pickup even that doesn’t shake with start stop. Hope this helps, keep us posted

How is the sound system in terms of playing music? Decent enough?

Yes for a standard system it’s pretty a decent level of bass, mid is good as is treble

@@PlanetautoUK Thanks, after waiting for 10 months Kia delivered the GT line instead of the GTplus line so I won't have the JBL :( Could not find anything about how decent the normal system is so this helps.

@ricardocosta783 you’re welcome, yes the JBL is better but it’s primarily bass and a bit more clarity, but for standard it’s not tinny or flappy bass and at decent levels doesn’t distort, enjoy. ☺️

2200 rpm 70 mph speed ! Isn't the rev too high? What is Real combined consumption ?

No that’s about right any lower and it increases stress on the engine, both petrol and diesel Erdem?

You are right. Most competitors are more "highway-compliant"

This is happy on motorways and will very easily exceed the limit and then some, and it doesn’t scream unless hammered.
