Welcome back to another exciting episode of my ‘Studio Life’ Vlog Series! Today, I am beyond thrilled to share with you the unboxing and first impressions of my brand new POTTERY KILN, a masterpiece crafted by CONE ART KILNS from Tucker’s Pottery Supply made right here in Canada.
From the moment the delivery truck pulled up, the anticipation was palpable. Join me on this journey as I lay eyes on my new CERAMICS KILN for the first time, capturing the genuine emotion and excitement that comes with such a significant addition to my HOME POTTERY STUDIO.
The real magic, however, begins when I delve into the intricacies of preparing for successful firings. I chose to upgrade to the GX Bartlett Genesis 2.0 Digital Controller and it's easy and intuitive right out of the box, so even a beginner can easily run this exquisite machine! I also chose to have Tucker’s install my venting system to the kiln which will ensure adequate air flow throughout my firings, I went with the Integrated ORTON VENT MASTER so it too is automatic and in sync with my Genesis Controller.
I show you up close how easy it is to navigate the different pre-programmed KILN FIRING SCHEDULES that’ll get you up and running fast... and easy! I’ll do some more research for future videos creating my own kiln firing schedules and I promise to pass all of my knowledge forward…I too need to practice a little first, but heck you know me...I like to share and and all tips and tricks I stumble on! 🤭
But that's not all-I'll be sharing my tried-and-true tips for prepping kiln shelves with Kiln Wash, how I mix, and apply KILN WASH: an essential step to prolong the life of your KILN SHELVES and save your POTTERY from doom.
For the CERAMICS enthusiasts who crave a bit of nerdy info, stay tuned as I dive deep into the importance of heat work over mere temperature readings. Discover why understanding this metric is crucial for achieving the best results in your ceramic creations. Why and how to run Test Firings, another crucial step whenever you have new elements or in this case a BRAND NEW KILN!
