What I really love about kindles are they don't release devices yearly So I don't have to listen to someone saying " wait next year and see if it gets an upgrade" 3 years are the perfection

I think the signature is worth the upgrade if you’re paying for ad free...since the signature version comes without ads by default, it’s only $30 more for more memory and wireless charging.

I received my new Kindle on release day and I’m impressed with the bigger screen, faster page turns and improved lighting. (Mine updated a few days after receiving it as well.) It is significantly faster than the previous model and I’m very happy with the warm light. I did have mine crash once when downloading a big batch of books, but it’s been fine since. Really happy with the upgrade and thanks for your review (and congrats on all the views)!

Because of your enthusiastic videos I almost bought an Oasis, but reconsidered at the last minute. I can see myself buying a Kindle next year. But it will either be a PW4, or the signature edition. I love the PW4 due to the plum color, and also the PW4 is very light. I don't use ambient light. I am fine with the speed of it. I read a lot per day. PW4 or signature it is. Your video btw, is much more useful than Goodereader's.

Very comprehensive review. I recognize the privacy concern but I love that setup is effortless. I would put a skin on the back to minimize fingerprints.

Additional weight can be an insidious problem for people with dexterity issues, arthritis, etc. so thanks for mentioning it! The fact you sense fatigue after holding it means it might not be a good fit for an older person, or one with hand/fingers concerns. Another stellar review - thanks!

I traded in my basic kindle so with a gift card and the trade-in I’ve been able to upgrade and get a protector screen and cover for the same price as a new Kindle. I’m happy with that.

Fantastic review. Thank you. I was thinking about the Signature edition but largely because of the 32GB. I have that on my Oasis but have never got beyond using about 18GB and have a 32GB PW too but have still over just 20GB free of 27GB useable storage. I can’t see my valuing the wireless charging of the Signature edition sufficiently to justify its uplift in price.

I'm probably the minority but personally I like the recommendations on the Kindle Ad screens. The algorithm is mostly on point for showing me books in the genre I read, so sometimes I stumble upon books that look interesting but never would have seen otherwise.

This was my first Kindle. The warm light is something I didn't expect to like so much. One feature I stumbled on which I haven't heard much about, is the page turn animation. For me, that was a game changer. I won't go back to the old way lol

I’m still gonna go for Kobo Libra 2. Also USB-C, 32 GB storage, plays nicer with other stores and formats and for me importantly, read in landscape and there are physical buttons. Great video though 👍

I just got the Paperwhite Signature Edition thanks to my wife's tribe sending them out to tribal members who signed up for one. So this was free to us. We had to register it but that was made simple by using the already registered Kindle app that was on my Android phone. This version was a no-ads version, which I think is the default for the Signature Edition. My previous Kindle was a Kindle Touch (Wi-Fi + 3G, with ads), a solid reader that still works perfectly fine but it just has a fraction of memory and is a bit slower. That is important since I have some tabletop RPG books in PDF format and I could easily max out my Touch's memory. 32 GB in the Signature Edition is so very nice to have and I can have enough books for a game installed while leaving plenty of room for reading material. The higher resolution of the Paperwhite's screen also makes the PDFs far more readable. My wife is interested in the Touch and it would be perfectly fine for her needs--especially since it is updated as far as it can go. I am impressed how even the older Kindles still work just fine, with me having my Touch for over 9 years. Hopefully this new one will continue the trend. I have yet to take advantage of wireless charging but I'm looking at a stand/charger for my new Kindle. I'm also looking into a cover since I like the extra protection it gives from my experiences with the Touch. Too bad I couldn't just migrate to my Touch cover. Another of the things I really like about the newer Kindle is the light for the screen. It's not too bright and is quite readable in the dark. Being able to switch to Night Mode (black bg with white text) is helpful as well. The keyboard is a lot more responsive than the original touch but yeah, still not super fast. No cell connection is not something that bothers me too much but it is a little sad to see it go. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the upgrade and like that this actually has new features that fits my needs well.

Not sure if you'll see this, but, your videos have convinced me to get a Kindle. I love my books and was hesitant to get an ereader. Thanks.

My Kindle from 2013 is still working fine. I was actually shocked to realize that is 11 years old. I mean, what device do I still have from 11 years ago that is still working and that I use on a regular basis. I was looking at getting another Kindle and this review has helped me in my decision making to get this Kindle Paperwhite.

As well as the current Oasis, I also have an original Oasis model and a Voyage. I aprreciate the smaller screens on those older devices but all the new models seem to be increasing the screen size. I think there's still a case to be made for the smaller screens.

Put a Pop Socket on the back......in the middle, about 1/3 way up from the bottom. Makes holding it amazingly comfortable.

Excellent detailed review! As the owner of an Oasis as well as the 2018 Paperwhite, I debated whether or not to order this because…. well…I kind of didn’t need it! But for no good reason - of course I ordered it anyway. Thanks for the positive take on it - makes me feel better about this completely unnecessary purchase! My only concern about it is that while I love the new larger size - I was wondering if you could read it with one hand comfortably since it’s also heavier. I’m glad you covered this aspect of it! The main advantage of e-ink is that it is visible outside without any additional lighting, unlike traditional screen tech that has self illuminating pixels (OLED) or backlit pixels (LCD) in order for it to be visible.

All my paperwhites (2) have the on/off button on the bottom right next to the charge outlet. My next kindle is the oasis, so I have 3 kindles. I love the oasis with the buttons on the side for page turning.

Just got my Signature today and after dialing in my settings, I'm loving it. The display size...my goodness, the difference is night and day from what I had before. I'm coming from a Voyage so the adaptive light sensor I was used to is also nice to have back. Since I also do a lot of sideloading larger books with images in it along with manga and graphic novels via Calibre, the 32gb is a VERY welcome size bump. Glad after 5 years I got the upgrade I was looking for, especially with the USB-C port I was waiting for! All this, and still barely able to be pocketed, home run device for me.

I see a huge oasis update coming soon that will make it stand out again from the other kindles . I have the 2019 oasis and I love it. Works great. Will not upgrade unless they come out with a new Oasis. If you do not own a kindle or an older kindle then I can see you purchasing this one.

A minus for Audio books on the Kindle is that there is no sleep timer. I listen to audible to get me to sleep but without a timer you end up with the whole book being read all through the night meaning you don't know where you got to in the story before you fell asleep.

I had pre-ordered the SE paperwhite, but after considering it ended up cancelling the order. I already have the Oasis and can't justify it as only purchased the Oasis in January of this year. I am very annoyed that the new page turn animation isn't coming to older Kindles. it looks very nice, just like a page turn really. PS, there is a new software 5.14 which enables the new page turn animations.
