The Gen 4 Kobalt 40v Max 2o inch lawnmower is worth owning. I love the lightweight design, the foldability, the 60-minute battery life, and the under $300 price tag. Here are my first impressions and initial review. This one uses this battery: Kobalt 40v Max Ultimate Output Lithium Ion 6.0Ah Battery Extended Run 240 Wh

I have the same lawnmower. A couple of tips: 1). Buy an extra battery. Eventually your battery will lose juice and won’t make it through a whole cut. 2). Don’t use the mulch feature. In fact, I removed the whole side-chute so that grass doesn’t clump up. 3). Clean the wet grass clippings from the bottom of the unit either in between cuts, or halfway through your cut. It’ll save your battery from straining.

We have this mower, the weedeater, and the blowdryer..weve had it for over a year...really love the mower I actually enjoy cutting the grass with it. My husband usually cuts the grass but he has an injury right now so I used it for the first time Monday, and now I want to cut the grass because it's so easy to use.

You are so right. I feel the same way. For some reason I actually enjoy mowing with this. Never would’ve thought I would feel this way. I think it’s because it’s so lightweight and quiet. I feel like I’m getting good exercise pushing it but not disrupting the neighborhood.

My wife and I are both disabled, and we got the self propelled version of this mower. We love it. I use the rear bagger system, and I use the grass clippings for producing mulch and compost. Our yard is a city yard, so it's plenty for us.

Hi Tony! Thank you for taking the time to put up your vids about this awesome lawn mower. I just bought one and was 'assembling' it this morning when I thought "I'd like to find a youtube video for this mower." haha! It seems like a nice, solid, little rig and I can't wait to get mowing with it. It's like a little hot-rod, I love how it looks. Def going to get a weed whacker too. Heck, I guess I'm team Kobalt now!

What's crazy is that it's so smooth and quiet you think you have no real power. But I have mowed my yard 4 times with it so far and it's performing just great. I think you'll like it alot. I take the battery to work to charge it. I'm hoping to make it through the whole summer and no pay one cent for any of the energy it takes to mow my grass (except for the energy it takes for my body to move around!). Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

@@tonyleeglenn Well, the maiden voyage today was very successful! My yard is a bit of a beast, hills, big rocks, bushes at about a quarter acre. I was able to do my entire side yard, 3/4 of my back yard and still had one light on! And I know what you mean about the smoothness and unexpected power. I love it so much and love even more that I'll be getting some good exercise in pushing it around. With gas prices the way they are, going battery-powered is a no-brainer. Keep up your plan @charging at work, heck yeah, save where you can! Thanks for your reply and have a great weekend!

The battery charge lasts much longer if you bag. When you mulch the grass having to be mulched up puts additional strain on the motor and pulls more charge from the battery. I own both a Ryobi and a Hart both 40 volt and have owned both for a few years. I would recommend a battery mower to anyone. I love both of mine.

The handle extension must be up and fully extended to start. The clicking noise you hear while doing this are micro switches. The handle bar has 4 . The other two are the 'throttle' bar and start button.

I'm about to buy this lawnmower, i have the 40v work light and 40v weed eater, so I have two batteries now. So it makes sense to continue with this battery platform. For $299 you're basically getting a lawnmower for $100. Because the batteries are like $175 by themselves. So it's a great deal.

I hate their weed eater. It has the motor down on the head, and after a while that weight starts to pull on my back. I bought a Hart trimmer from Walmart, they are made by Ryobi, and the motor is up by the battery and it makes such a difference in comfort.

I bet it's light!!! I use rider and Murray. Also Craftsman push mowers. It's crazy how long mowers run these days. Oil changed every 2 seasons and I've had one for 10 years. Same plug. Hahahah. I like this but I would fear cost of batteries. If they will last that's great !!!! I'll surely check into these !!!! Are they easy to lift? Putting in a truck?
@tonyleeglenn
@tonyleeglenn 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert. The light weight aspect and the quietness are what I like - but the best is no oil or gas. You just fold it up and stand it up against the wall. It would be no problem to throw in a truck - about 50 pounds. The battery is guaranteed for 3 years, but I have Kobalt blower that we bought about 5 years ago and the battery is still killing it. I'm hopeful this one will last - also, I take the battery to work to charge it. That's how freakin' cheap I am!

Buy the same brand of the weed whipper and Blower and you will have three batteries. I work for Lowes and always recommend this. I used mine today for the first time and loved it. My yard must be 3 times smaller then yours because I only used 1/3 of a charge to do my place. I have a different brand (Ego) weed whipper and blower, so I’m glad I only need one battery for my Kobalt mower to cut the whole place.

Bought a Kobalt mower. I called Kobalt about purchasing another battery. They told me to call them in two months. I was then informed that they were no longer making that battery and then they falsely told me I could buy a different battery. I stopped the guy in midstream. Geez. Lowes is still selling this lawnmower with one battery. Talked to the people at Lowes and they just shrug. I had no idea I was buying something that had to be tossed in two years. What a waste.

Electric mowers will never out preform gas mower. Electric mower will burn itself up on thick wet grass while gas mower will either chop right through or shut off if clogged. Gas powered engines will out perform electric every time and run longer.

True about the power thing. That's not the reason I favor the battery powered option though. It has plenty of power to keep up my 1-acre yard - and I'm going on three years buying zero gas for mowing. In fact, I charge the battery at my office at work. I don't even pay for the electricity for charging the battery. That's a sweet deal for a cheapo like me!!
