Thanks for this review. I have decided on a p400e cancelled order that I am collecting next week. You have covered aspects of the vehicle that nobody else seems to - such as the jack. Really helpful.

I ordered a P400e HSE at the end of September and was told a year lead time, I then got a call on 19th December to say it should be delivered during the first week of March! I hope you've had the same call! Thanks for the Video, very excited for it's arrival.

I’ve ordered my new Defender 110 D300 3.0D X in January expecting delivery time of 6 to 9 months I’ve also had an update from my dealership that it will come off the production line mid April and be delivered to the UK early May. Great news. Thank you for your video. Much appreciated all the best Carl

@@cotswoldmusings yes Roy it is. I have a new 2021 D240 first edition Defender which is coming up to 2 year old this month. I’ve had it from new and it is an absolutely amazing Car. I’m planning on doing a KZfaq review on my car shortly (i’ve never done this before ) before I get rid of it to explain the positives and negatives I’ve had with it over the last two years. I noticed you’ve just posted some new videos of your new car. I will watch them shortly and send you a review. Thanks for your video again it is much appreciated. Regards, Carl

@@carllawton9520 good plan Carl. What would be great is a video of the new X showing everything is there etc. as there’s such a lot of noise about Frankenstein specification Defenders 😊. Let me know and send me the link 😊

Hi just picked mine up, and you are absolutely right ,they still don’t tell about the rubbish boot space, wish I had kept my 3ltr diesel se. Wish I had done some more home work. They are still having issues with supplies, it came without mud flaps,tow bar,sidesteps, and scuff plate,wheel arch protectors. Good video thanks .

Thanks for your honest review 👍 This car with the PHEV engine is very popular in my country, the Netherlands. Because we pay taxes on the amount of CO2 output. On paper (!), this engine has a CO2 output of 57 g/km, which is very low compared to the diesel or petrol. So this is the most affordable Defender with prices starting at 85.000 euro. What I do not like , is the heavy weight of 2600 kgs.. Because we also pay more tax for a heavy car.... An Ineos Grenadier, for example, weights above 2700 kgs, and that car even has no batterypack and EV kit. High CO2 output and heavy weight result in sky-high taxes, no chance in the Netherlands. So the Defender is still the best choice around here. I would like smaller weelsize with steel rims though. Every real 4x4 fan does not want large wheels with low profile tires ! I am still considering buying this car, but one has to wait a year for delivery. In such a year much can happen: maybe the all electric Defender gets ready, or Toyota will come with an Lancruiser PHEV or EV, etc. etc. Please keep us informed about all the issues you have with the Defender ! Thanks ! Greetz from the Netherlands 🙋‍♂️

Hi Greetz, very interesting thanks. I think you’re safe for a couple of years on Defender going full EV. More like 3+. As I understand it they are starting early testing of Defender EV mule at Eastnor Castle Herefordshire. 12 months passes quite fast in reality plus you can finalise specifications about 3 months before build.

Very useful summary: ref pre-conditioning and software etc... - It's a problem on "most" manufacturers except Tesla. The command doesn't go directly to the car from APP it goes to a vendor cloud service first. Everyone still catching up with Tesla

@Rory Atkins Thanks for your very helpful video especially the 'low down' on the boot. You mentioned the vehicle kicks over to full petrol mode after about 50 miles in Hybrid usage.There may be some battery still available from reserves or regeneration but at some point you are presumably totally reliant on the power and torque of the 2L combustion engine? Has this been an issue when towing for longer journeys (you mentioned was one of your reasons for purchase)? Thanks
@cotswoldmusings
@cotswoldmusings Жыл бұрын
20 cold, 26/28 warm. No, the system always tries to hold a reserve of battery power for short bursts of 400bhp when required presumably for safety reasons. No issues with towing, but then my trailer isn’t big (motorbikes).
@davidlewington3324
@davidlewington3324 Жыл бұрын
@@cotswoldmusings Thanks Rory. Just for clarification the 20 cold, 26/28 warm is when on Electric alone ? If starting out on "Hybrid" mode (using engine and motor) and setting off on a long journey, after 50 miles or so the battery would be largely flat (barring regeneration with braking etc)?
@cotswoldmusings
@cotswoldmusings Жыл бұрын
@@davidlewington3324 in essence yes. I found depending on journey about 60 miles winter driving in hybrid, so more in summer. Save mode is good because you can save EV only for town etc. Hope this helps.

Hi Rory, had the same storage issues with a Mercedes GLE Hybrid too. Battery range 40miles vs advertised 60. If the Tesla does 3 to 4 miles per kwh what is your Defender doing. The mercedes was about 1.3 miles per kwh. And all that extra weight of battery and electric motor takes away potential efficiency. For all the quirks, I noted the slow screen, the potential wet rear seats and lack of storage and not wanting to off road I can't see why you went back in technology time after enthusing about the model Y and didn't get another. Maybe towing ability.... Oh and I love my Model Y too, only way to go
@cotswoldmusings
@cotswoldmusings Жыл бұрын
Yes, we’ve got this for towing, general workhorse inc. load carrying capacity, plus we’ve got other plans for next year which is best suited to the Defender. I don’t bother to look at efficiency, as I know it’ll be terrible 🤦‍♂️
