Bought the same laptop for the same price! Also got Cooler Master cooling pad, really helps with keeping temps lower. Will also try to disable turbo boost, thanks for the tip!

Honestly just having the laptop raised is enough, but any sort of extra cooling helps. I downloaded throttle stop and reduced the turbo to 3.5 GHZ. I can make a video on that if y’all would like. Keeps the temps cool and doesn’t effect cpu depended games :) 4+ ghz is just to much to maintain over a long period of time.

Thanks for video man, not a many videos about this model. First i used hdmi connection with my Benq 2k g-sync monitor and i didn't have g-sync option in nvidia control panel, then i switch to usb-c (it's a 1.4 dispay port) and it showed up in control panel. For people who don't know that is only port who allow direct connection with nvidia graphics card. HDMI and mini display port goes through Intel integrated card, so it created little bottleneck.

This solves the heating problem for sure but the throttle stop video nets you similar thermals but doesn’t hit your cpu performance as hard.

i’m getting consistent 97-100!!! CPU temps after an hour or so of a CPU intensive game like DayZ. at this point i’m trying to conserve the systems longevity. i’m gonna undervolt but do you recommended buying a cooling stand or something like a simple metal stand instead of having it flat on my desk? great video 🙏

@@c0_oper If you check out my throttle stop video i show how to undervolt and reduce the turbo limits, now i never hit 70, i also use just a normal laptop stand, just to get more air flow under the unit. The main issue laptops face is the absurdly high turbo boost, its fine if it needs it for a quick sec to load a website or something, but for gaming when its being pushed four hours on end, temps get uncomfortable to say the least. Check out my throttle stop video and you should be golden!

Actually, I am mostly going to use this laptop in my office, not playing many games, but I am using an Samsung odyssey g9 ultra wide screen with 5k resolution. If I just use simple office tasks, can the laptop be completely quiet? Which port should I use the the max performance? Mini display port or hdmi? Thank you in front. Best, Martin

I would say the mini display port as DP 1.2 has a higher bandwidth over HDMI 2.0 but both should easily work in most peoples cases. There is a built in software that allows you to pick different modes like Quiet, Entertainment, and Performance. Enabling Quiet mode I never heard the fans even while gaming, tho keep in mind it does throttle the CPU and GPU to maintain safe temperatures. I find this setting to still be usable in most gaming scenarios unless playing a demanding game. If I can get away with using quiet mode on a specific game, I keep it on.

It does get hot but all laptops do. If you follow my throttle stop guide you’ll get cool temps. 3060 would last quite a while. If it’s on sell it’s a good buy!

I passed on this at bestbuy when it was on sale. Wish I didn’t. Talked a friend into getting the 3070 aorus. I think it was 1100. I’m waiting for that to come back around.

I’m not 100% sure as I don’t own it anymore, though the screen was kind of sub par. It’s ok for gaming but wouldn’t do any work on it outside of word processors.

i was looking for a video of this precise model and all of it was 10th gen, so Awesome Vid Sir. and can i ask, 1.) if you can test or give an estimate of the Battery life in "Power Saving Mode"? (i know that gaming laptops have poor battery life and specially this one cause it has "48.96WHrs". but i just want to know because we have constant rolling black outs here and i want to know if it can atleast last 3-4hrs. on battery. 2.) "DisplayPort 1.4 Type-C over USB 3.2 Gen 2" - i've never have a laptop with a Type-C before so what can i do with that? can i charge the laptop over type-C cable? and can my display Power the laptop over the cable? (sorry i red the wikis and stuff but im new to type-C's) 3.) does it have a "Mux Switch"??. i ask because the Aero and Aorus Laptops didn't have it at first, Then with the "Laptop Manager" got updated, there was a Mux Switch Button. (Aero and Aorus are also Gigabyte owned). [can't really afford to buy an external Display just to bypass optimus]. Thank U Sir

This laptop unfortunely doesn't have a mux switch, the only way to bypass optimus is by shutting off the laptops display and use an external display, though to be honest even using the mux switch my fps in games are more than enough, in competitive games i get over 144 and in more immersive games i still rock over 100 fps in games, will playing with optimus disabled improve fps? Yes, but not as much as people think, there are plenty of videos out there of performance differences and its not that much. The laptops battery life while gaming is only a few hours, though playing off the charging block will reduce the laptops power draw, which in turn reduces performance, you can still easily game off the charger just dont expect more than a few hours, though it does depend on the games being played. Type C is true USB, (Universal Serial Bus), yes it does charge via usb c but the power cord it comes with is not a c type, but C can be used for internet, sound, display, pretty much anything, there are usb c hubs that allow things like hdmi, ethernet, usb type B, type A, etc etc. Theres not much the C port cant do :)

@@lilphantomtief5687 This G5 only has a 49WHr battery with a maximum expectation of 3 hours doing light tasks. As a general thing, you'll want a Ryzen based machine, not Intel, for battery life. Their battery life can be ahead of otherwise identically specced Intel machines by a measure of hours. Also read the spec sheet on battery size. 99.9Whr is the biggest battery laptop manufacturers will fit to comply with airport carry on guidelines but anything 80Wh+ will give good battery life for your needs in a Ryzen-based machine particularly if you turn down display brightness and reduce refresh rate to 60Hz.

The monitor it comes with is 144hz. There is some screen bleeding. Quality overall isn’t bad but not great, only intended for gaming. My external monitor is 165hz.

Hello guys, i bought this laptop arounf 1.5 weeks ago and im having a problem: Sometimes when i turn on the computer (Usually after it has been off for a day or so) the computer starts and the keyboard lights up the logo shows up and it loads but then the sceen stays black (keyboard still light up in blue) and stays like that for 30 secs to a minute, the first time that happened i just hold the power button and turn it off and then it goes in normally. Today i realized that if i dont touch it it will restart itself but if i look at the windows Log it will show some kind of critical error (kernel 41 something). i was able to replicate this ONCE removing the battery and pressing the power button for a few secs, but was not able to repeat it again. Sorry if i wrote too much but the problem is i dont think this will be enough argument for a warranty case because it could just be a system error or driver malfunction, but since i cant consistently repeat it i cant really check whats causing it (it has happened 4 times since i got the laptop) Has anyone here experienced this behaivour? am i worrying too much?? i dont remember something like this happening with my last laptop but i did get other type of problems driver relater. any idea guys???? PS: the laptop does not crash or restart while im using it, the only time anything happens is while turning on, specially when it has been off for a while Sorry for the book, but im worried since this laptop was a tough investment for me and was hoping that nothing was gonna go bad

You would see better performance on the 3060 as none of these chips are bottlenecked by the CPU so the better GPU would be best. The 3050 is decent value for a budget laptop, the 1050ti is barely better so for just a bit more you could get the 3060. So the 3050 is decent value, 3050ti is not, 3060 is great value. All depends on pricing and what sales are going on. If you can get a 3050 ti for the same price as a 3050 than obviously go for that one. But at msrp I’d say either 3050 or 3060. Based on research the 3070 isn’t much better than the 3060.

@@solidsnake8735 I’d go with the 3060 still. The Ryzen cpu is better but once again, the cpu isn’t the bottle neck, the gpu is. So getting the better gpu with or without the mux switch will be a noticeable improvement. Optimus doesn’t hit the fps as hard as you’d think. Even with Optimus I have zero issues playing games, but the difference between the 3050 and 3060 is major, it be less of a difference if the 3050 had more than 4gbs of vram but that’s it’s biggest issue, there are some games that just won’t run on 4GB. 6GBs should be the minimum these days.

The fan noise is audible in most games, the more demanding the louder the fans get, thats to be expected with any gaming laptop though, if your wearing headphones you won't notice the noise though.

I made the video cause there just wasn’t a lot out there on this model. I got the drivers from NVidia website. I should try making cut? It’s still on sale for under 1000 it’s well worth it for what you get!

Have you had any problems with the keyboard being bad or blue screening I was looking at a review left by someone who bought it and they said the biggest down side was the keyboard being bad and blue screening do to the bios not being updated to fb5 but being at fb1 and it needs to be updated to fb5

After i bought the Laptop and tried to install the Realtek Driver there was no sound out of my speakers. When i use the default microsoft driver, i get sound but the laptop doesnt recognize the combo-jack so i get sound out of the headphones, but the headset mic doesnt work. can anyone help?

My advice would be to factory restore the system, it comes with audio drivers, i never had to do anything like that. I myself use Steel Series Sonar to handle my audio!

The battery on most gaming laptops are never that impressive. I’d say you get 5-6 hours with light use and half that on games. Honestly it depends on how demanding of a game your playing. I’d say a couple hours of gaming.

Most of bechmarks say that it lasts like 3-4 hours light normal use which got me confused on how a laptop like that would draw such power even if it has good specifications? @@davidlovlyperson4309 It really depends on the price but the 11th gen did actually get a bump up on efficiency and performance. If theres a 50 dollar difference i would still go for the 11th gen, anymore than that then i wouldn't. The laptop doesnt last long because the battery on it is rather lack luster. Its a beast of a laptop at a really low price, so they had to cut corners somewhere. The battery and screen are one of them. That being said i use mine as a desktop with an external monitor so these things dont effect me. Even if i did use it solo i think the screen is passable for gaming.

@@sirtreedom2123 my dude I saw that using HDMI bottlenecks the performance through display so using the USB C DP at the back of the laptop eliminates that. Would really appreciate the update. I just saw that comment on Brian Mckinzie's channel since he also reviewed this laptop. Planning to buy this bad boy soon..

@@iHateCactuars It depends on your monitor, yes the USB C port is "better" but i only use a 1080p 165hz monitor so theres no difference in my scenario. If your trying to push 240hz or 1440p with high refresh rate the usb c port would be the option. Just depends on your needs really.

You could run league on the intergrated graphics let alone the 3060 lol. Yes this pc would run 10 league of legends clients at once. If that’s all you want to play, then maybe a cheaper laptop would do your wallet a favor.

When your playing games on the laptop you have to plug it in to utilize its full power, that alone tells me it gets power from the cord itself, so in theory the battery doesn’t have to be in there… I’m not certain on this though.

Nope, they heat is closer to the top of the laptop. The cooling system is well built imo, just can get a tad loud, that’s to be expected in laptops.

I believe it’s 105 watt version. So it’s definitely not the lowest wattage, if you watch videos comparing the wattages and it’s not the big of difference. If found at a gold price it’s easily worth it, as far as the CPU, 6 cores with SMTP is more than enough for gaming and streaming.

Do you by any chance know the srgb of the model. I heard some people say 96% and other people say 62%

I don’t know the exact number buts it’s most certainly not 96%. It’s serviceable for gaming and entertainment though. Not good for production. They had to cut costs somewhere so the monitor was it. I use my own monitor so it doesn’t effect me.

Nope, with the I5, the 3060, 16GB of RAM and an SSD for storage your in for a great gaming experience. Plus it’s all on a 144hz display giving your ultra smooth gameplay!

Its about the same as other laptop keybaords, not great but useable. I use a USB keyboard for gaming

It does not, I don’t know the exact numbers but the only thing the screen has going for it is the 144hz. It’s not a bad screen, would be plenty fine for gaming, but for any professional work like photo editing, you’ll want to get an external monitor.

I bought this laptop and it came to me with light leaks on the screen, I wanted to change it and they tried 3 more and they all had the same problem.

@@lukebarrios6564 if it’s the same brand of laptop I doubt the screen would be any different, once again I don’t use the laptops screen as a main display, the 11th gen Intel cpus saw a noticeable bump in performance so honestly I’d still try to get the 11th grn

The heat is more toward the very top of keyboard. So more traditional keys like WASD arnt effected.

Not at all, in fact I have my I5 underclocked to avoid thermal throttling and i still don’t have any issues.

@@Dillant88 Really comes down to needs. I'm a fairly casual gamer. I do enjoy my 100 + fps in games though. As of now i can max any game out and get respectable frames, and with DLSS being enabled on the 3060 I think it will last me years to come.

I don't see any "fog". The display is not fantastic in terms of color accuracy but its passible if all your doing is gaming. It is 144hz so its smooth as butter! That being said I play on a different monitor.

It’s base TDP is 35 watts but can be boosted to 45 watts. Thermals a max of 100c, but if you check out my throttle stop video I get it under 80 without any noticeable impact on performance.

The fans can get loud but that’s normal for gaming laptops, I just keep it on quiet mode unless it’s affecting my performance.

Filming a monitor isn’t going to show you much. Cameras cant represent a digital screens true fidelity, at-least not the ones I have access too. This was mainly a basic impressions on the laptop in a PC set up. The monitor isn’t great and neither is the battery which leads me to believe they intended the users to use it as a desktop. The monitor is serviceable if that’s all you have but not great. Thanks for the feed back though, I’ll take into consideration when I do my comprehensive review of the unit.
