Is a minifig test even helpful at all? Like dont they just charge by 3 packs so surely even if you could fit more they would just open the box and see you have more than 3 and then charge for the multiple sets at that point so its not like the cardboard box fitting more minifigs would mean you could add more for the same price in the same manner as the PAB boxes vs cups.

It would be ideal. Whenever I visit my local lego store though, I'd say 25% or less bring their existing cups instead of getting new ones. I'm sure Lego also keeps tabs on that because you get a small descount for reusing, and has decided that using cardboard boxes is more ecologically sustainable due to the small amount of folks reusing the cups

Most people rarely fully plan their visit to a Lego store and rarely even remember to take their cups with them. So I think the cups get reused very rarely, even if people wanted to. But it's just not something you carry around with you when you go shopping. I hope you still get a discount for reusing the cardboard box, but I doubt people will do that simply because it's not a priority in their mind to remember to take their pab boxes with them when going shopping into a mall or something. Good thing about the cardboard boxes is they can probably fold into a backpack without taking space so if you carry the same bag around you could have them handy in some side pocket or something. But still, probably something only hardcore Lego buyers would think about.

I like the zip loc bag method as well. But I also like the cups better than the cardboard boxes.

Really? NO, they are NOT single use plastic cups. Unless they break easily, you CAN reuse them. If people are not reusing the cups, it's on them, not the cups itself.

I’m looking forward to the boxes because they are about the same for awkward pieces but you get way more with bricks. I saw someone get an extra 30+ bricks in the box over the cups. Obviously that doesn’t sound like much but when it’s vs bricklink prices it’s a few quid extra value!

Most stores are pretty lenient, as long as the lid closes and they will tape it closed. I've never tried to get the 1/2 inch gap but have done 1/4 inch gap with tape to hold it. I think he is just trying to see if the volume is the same in each container.
