Lexus stepped up here

Personally I would take the Lexus because it's unique and it definitely turns heads in certain paint schemes.

I like the description of ‘plantedness’ you attached to your description of the GLE. It is true, it looks ‘planted’! While I think Mercedes Benz have lost the way somewhat in recent times, particularly with the plethora of multiple car types that has diluted and seriously damaged the brand, they are doing a better job than BMW who have some serious lemons in the current lineup, including the awful and brutal iX. Both could take a design lesson from Land Rover with their new sport!

The GX easily because it has a different unique look something that’s pretty exciting oh and it’s something that would be reliable and robust that will easily last 10+ years without falling apart can’t say the same for newer Mercedes cars tho

Lexus styling is just too good

The Lexus looks awesome. The GLE just looks boring and blobby. The G class looks a lot nicer than the GLE but then again I'm a big fan of boxy rigs.

Cars like the Lexus is why i dislike the new Defender. The lexus is so cool and boxy, same with cars like the Suzuki Jimny. Yet they felt the need to make the defender so curved and soft.

The Mercedes appears like a dedicated on-road vehicle; the Lexus GX looks more off-road oriented. The GX 550 reminds me of the early 1990s Ford SUV Explored models.

I wanna see a Lexus FJ Cruiser. I would love to see what that would look like.

I wish they used the shifter from the 23 RX. The current one takes up too much space in the console area

GX if you want a off road capable luxury 4x4. GLE if you want a luxury soft crossover that cushier. Both very nice.

i kind of wish the front of the GLE was a little more aggressive? like the headlights look almost too cute to be on a car like that especially with a frowning grill and the really good looking side view and the car looking planted from the back. Otherwise i really love it

I used to love Merc but their design philosophy has become a bit boring. Lexus is also similar with select models but my gosh, this GX is truly polarizing and it feels like they are going for the jugular's of competitive models including the JLR Defender, Ford Bronco and even the G-Wagon. I personally wouldn't know what to do with a GX since wouldn't be off-roading it but would be great to see if they push out an F-Sport variant with a slightly more "urban" feel to it.

Design review of the COMPLETE GL series please? The design has changed a bunch of times and watching your BMW video I think a lot of people would be interested. Could even include the most sold C series...

Funny that the video moderator failed to mention maintenance and reliability costs and differences! Also, studies have shown that physical buttons are safer and preferred by most drivers! Trying to navigate climate and other controls via a glass panel is dangerous as it forces one to take one's eyes off of the road more often!

If I want an SUV, I want an actual SUV that can go off road or tow. So GX for me. I see no reason to get a GLE over an E class wagon😊

When I look to Merc near Mercedes line up I say is ok,when I see it now near Lexus I say,wow,what a car. Sorry but Lexus its possible to be designed by Minecraft.This boxy design is nice on other cars,Hummer,G-Klass,Defender.

The Lexus looks tougher while Mercedes looks like a womans car. Nothing wrong with a womans car, but Lexus takes the crown for me.

I’d go with the Lexus no doubt. It looks so much more useful than the Mercedes. The Mercedes just feel like it’ll never see a dirt road in its life, and that’s boring to me. The Lexus feels fresh and new.

Lexus is the no-brainer choice here. I don't care how nice the Mercedes is, it doesn't measure up at all. I don't like the way it looks from the side with the weird tapering rear overhang, and I don't like the Mercedes interior either. It looks super gimmicky, and the next GLE is probably going to have a different gimmicky interior, unlike the Lexus where everything just seems functional and timeless in comparison. I think the Lexus will age better. I'd have the new Landcruiser 250 over either of these though. Simpler is pretty much always better.

The bad taste of Americans is on display in the comments here. The JBL entertainment system in toyotas is hideous yet they don’t seem to care. The lexus looks like an ugly cheap toy yet somehow Americans love boxes

Lexus knocked it out of the park with this new GX. I have no idea why anyone would even consider the Mercedes. It is beyond boring and bland in my opinion. The entire M-B lineup is atrocious and is almost as bad as their reliability.

Current gx is so trash it is billions of years away from gle. I don’t think it is any different.
