I really hope that they don't mess this up 😭

i'll always be excited about new life is strange content but i'm also quite apprehensive that this is just going to be a reskin of true colors with max's yassified face.

I just hope they don’t mess this up. Max looks amazing. God i hope Chloe is in this game. But if they’ve decided Chloe dying is canon, maybe we can see her in the parallel universe. She’s important to Max’s story, and is the reason she even discovered her powers.

I'm going to judge when the game is actually out, but I have to admit to being incredibly skeptical about this. And if I compare it to the trailer's for DontNod's Lost Records, that one looks far more compelling and interesting. I mean, its teaser trailer was uniquely done as if shot on a 90's camcorder, and while it clearly has elements that are inspired by LiS it feels like its own thing. This new LiS just feels...well, more like a cash grab in spirit I guess. But I could be entirely wrong! And there's no way to know until the game is out.

I have a strong feeling that it's still gonna do the whole thing at the beginning where it asks for your choice at the end of lis 1 and that'll change small details from throughout the game, and that they are gonna stay away from Chloe for the majority of the game, maybe mention her once or twice and then when things look bleak they'll release another DLC like for true colors and that'll have something to do with Arcadia Bay and Chloe

I have a bad feeling about this game. Deck9 excels with creating some individual scene beats, but seriously struggles putting a coherent story around them. This has the “appearance” of a fan servicing IP steer and everyone saw what happened to Star Wars when Disney took over and did that. The behind the scenes allegations around this game are horrifying, and they even already put a lot of stuff, like owning a cat, behind a $30 paywall. That doesn’t bode well for the purpose or direction for those of us who love Max, Chloe, and PriceField.

I have a weird feeling about this one

Hello :) Personally, I’m cautiously excited for Double Exposure! Excited because I’m happy to see Max solving another murder mystery, but cautious because I liked Don’t Nod’s Life is Strange games more than Deck Nine’s. Which is why I’m more hyped for Lost Records than Double Exposure, but still happy to play both. :) I’m not worried about the lack of Chloe, since I bet both camps will see her in one of the two timelines. Maybe not in a major role, but definitely in _some_ role. You made a great point about fan service vs original ideas. I admit, I liked the fan service, particularly in Before the Storm. But you’re right that it pales in comparison to Deck Nine’s original ideas, so leaning too heavily on it might not bode well for Double Exposure. This game could make or break the Life is Strange franchise, so I really hope it doesn’t disappoint us >.

It's so interesting - and somewhat sad - that we're getting both a new Max Caufield adventure from Deck Nine in October, and around the same time we'll see what Dontnod is creating to replace LiS in its lineup. It's sad because I wish we could see the original team work on this, but also because I'm afraid one of these two games could overshadow the other since the release dates for the two should be relatively close, and I want to see both of them thrive. Anyway, I'm really excited for this. I'm not worried about the inclusion of Chloe, I know the D9 team is full of LiS fans and they threat her as well as they did in Before the Storm, which is too say, great. What I am worried about is if they'll manage to create a story as deep and interesting as the two Dontnod LiS games, something they struggled with until now. But it's more of a mistrust with Square Enix than the team, so I just hope they have them enough time to make the game as good as it needs to be. Either way, what an amazing time to be a LiS fan!

I really am excited for this game. I just have to say, now that I think about it in detail, I'm sceptical about wether they will be able to deliver the original Life Is Strange spirit, if You know what I mean. BTS managed it, ot course, since it was a prequel to the same story. LiS TC did a well job, but didnt exactly reach the same effect (still love it, though). LiS 2.... let's don't talk about it. I really, really hope that Double Exposure will exactly be what we all dream for

I have mixed feelings about it. I love Max but it feels like Deck Nine is using the success of LIS 1 as a cash grab. Some elements of True Colors felt very similar to the first game too. Just feels like they're trying so hard to make LIS 1 2.0. Also isn't using her powers to prevent someone's death going to end in a disaster like in the first game? Idk maybe shifting realities has different logic but it feels too convenient. It would be especially stupid if it goes off the Bay ending, the whole point of which is that you can't prevent someone's fate and she does the same thing again. I'm also not a fan of the graphics. Looks kinda, idk, bland. I liked the more stylized graphics of the previous games. I'm more excited about Lost Records tbh.

A new life is strange and it’s a murder mystery, two things I love

At the very least it should be... an entertaining time? The Deck9 games are at least entertaining some of the time, even if they're not groundbreaking storywise, so I'm definitely giving it a go.

Hmm … I may be alone in this but I didn’t want another retread of old characters. I liked that all games were initially their own narrative. I didn’t want Max or anyone else from the other games. This is why the original dev left too. They didn’t want rehash. I’m still gonna play this but I’m not as excited as I want to be. I will still like it but I probably won’t love it.

I have a theory that 'this' Max is from another timeline where she didn't move back to Arcadia Bay to study photography, but instead, she stayed in Seattle and the rest gets her here. She hasn't met Chloe nor gotten back to Arcadia Bay at all. All of the drama in the bay will continue, just without Max's presence. That MIGHT make sense...

is it just me or did anyone also had a hard time recognizing Max? Without the captions i wouldn't have realized that was Max. i was surprised to see the Oct 2024 release date. seem like a pretty fast turnaround. i chose bae over bay so it is interesting how they would incorporate chloe in this story. i really wish she's in this game but i am not getting my hopes up.

The vibe and energy i got when i watched the lost records trailer, was way closer to Max and her story in the OG LIS than what i felt watching Double exposure. Even Swan, the protagonist of LR reminded me more of Max rather than this new Max in her own new game. personally i don't have any problem with her redesign. despite many people complaining she doesn't look like OG Max, i think the opposite. what i wished they kept tho, was the nostalgic theme of OG LIS. as said in the video the polished and perfect look of the new game makes you feel conflicted. what made LIS unique was that dark, grungy imperfect style. something you could see both in visuals and in the characters themselves. i actually had this problem with true colors too. for me that game just doesn't seem like it's in the same universe and LIS1 and LIS2. everything and everyone looked so perfect and handsome. i dont want to presume anything so soon i just wish they don't ruin this for us. i don't want to be dissapointed

if im honest i would have preferred a completely new story instead of a Max sequel but i am still super excited for this game despite this

I am worried abt how this game will be. I hope they don’t ruin Max’s story and hope we get something abt Chloe. The game feels as though you can switch out Max for someone else and it wouldn’t matter. The dialogue seem kinda off especially and I find it weird that Max has a deeper voice even though she was 18 in the first game but maybe seeing more gameplay will change my mind. It doesn’t feel as though this is a sequel to the first game which can be a good or bad thing. I just hope the game is interesting and feels like Max is the MC for a reason. The story is also very usually for Life is Strange, murder mystery. I hope this concept is still interesting and makes sense for Max to go through this again. The directors seemed a bit standoffish in giving concrete answers when being interviewed abt the game so hopefully it’s to not spoil the game instead of anything bad. Hopefully our choice actually matters. I would feel a bit robbed if I picked Chloe just to have her disappear. Overall, excited but skeptical.

Also it’s likely that they’ve removed the OG Max powers and replaced it with the ‘Reality Jumper’ power. So no more Time Reverse, Photo jumping or Time Freeze 😔

"I'll never use my powers again" except for the next time a friend of mine dies. Then I'm definitely using my powers again... Ugh, have we learned nothing! I love how this is bringing the community back to life, it's like visiting old friends. Though I couldn't be less excited about this game to be honest.

My only issue is that this looks nothing like max…I did even know it was her until she started speaking

I'm incredibly excited but also incredibly nervous because of that one article that everyone is probably aware of. I hope that this isn't just some fan service cash grab. I also hope that if Chloe is involved in the game which let's face it it's highly likely she will at least be mentioned because arguably people enjoy that character more than the protagonist. But I hope she's involved but only in flashbacks so that whichever way you choose it can be explained. I also hope that Steph is at least mentioned as well because I feel like in some capacity her and Max will have somehow contacted each other at some point I don't know I'm just looking forward to the music as well cause that's usually one of my favourite parts of anything life is strange is that weird I don't know?

Idk how i honestly feel about this game for one im really excited for it but another part feels disrespected as a fan of the franchise I love Max but dontnod wanted her story to end and there bringing her back

i never liked chloe. i didn't make the choice to save her and sacrifice arcadia bay. Sorry, but when she dies like 5x and there is a freakish tornado about to destroy the town....that's the universe saying she had to go. So for me this game with Chloe being sacrificed is perfect for me as a continuation as that is the choice I made in the og game.

i think it feels soulless and i believe this will just be a corporate cash grab filled with fanservice. especially considering the controversy around this game and the fact that deck nine already failed twice to capture that dontnod feeling id rather wait for lost records

I admit that I don't love the "look" of the game, as my initial impression. Too polished and doesn't match the style of the original. But, I might get used to it, and having Hannah Telle back makes a big difference, since it will really sound like Max. I think there's tons of stuff they haven't shown yet, maybe even most of the shots are just from the first episode and they are keeping tons of things under wraps. There's a big reveal on Thu, so we'll learn more. I think Chloe might be in the game, and we might have even seen her in the trailer. Hopefully, they are underselling this, and ready to really surprise us. I think a big reason for the 2 week gap is because of a giant game-changing cliff hanger. We will see.

It's not what I want, and it goes contrary to what the actual creators wanted for this franchise. It's like professional fan fiction. Don't get me wrong though. I'm still looking forward to playing it. I actually liked True Colors despite its problems. I just think this choice was a mistake. If they are going to be the inheritors of the Life is Strange property, they should stick to original content in that world.

SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN 2 (If talking about a side mission can be considered spoilers.) I hope the next Life is Strange game has a Deaf main character. Hear me out. The animation quality is so good that ASL would actually be understood. It has been proven that a playable Deaf character can be done in an interesting way. Spider-Man 2 PS5 has a side mission where you get to play as up and coming black Deaf artist, Hailey Cooper. You experience the world through her perspective. You can hear some tones and you can't with others. Speech is so muffled that it can't be understood at all. The story was about as interesting as you can get from a side mission where you play a character without superpowers, but the artistic representation worked so well. Her internal dialogue was represented through thought bubbles that had expressions in the form of spray paint art. This is also how she saw other people. Over top of other people's heads were bubbles showing how they were feeling, representing her reading their expressions. Anytime a person who didn't know ASL talked to her, the captions dropped because she could not understand them, so the same experience happened to you as the player. You have to use context clues and alternative communication methods to make your way through her mission, and I think this would be a really interesting concept for a character in a mystery game. You, as the main character, can't rely on over hearing conversations or quick easy communication (unless said NPC knows ASL). A playable Deaf character would not only be unique and help add more inclusion to this amazing game universe, but it would mean so much to the Deaf community to have more than one accurately represented character in gaming.

The franchise dies for me if chloe isnt there or max dates Someone! Else

Im sorry that trailer looks like ass. No life is strange vibes at all. Its another murder mystery small town plot again without any of the soul of lis1. Im only hyped for lost records. They could never make me like you, deck nine.

Personally, not a fan of Max at all. When you compare the two, the new one looks NOTHING like her; not even when you compare the remaster. I know graphics change, but I feel like a lot of her key features were erased, so it looks like a 30 year old character that doesn’t seem like it’s Max? Only when the video said it was Max did I go “shoot, really?” - I will play it, but I am disappointed by the character design. I like the private investigator kinda vibe, but she genuinely looks 30 and I don’t think that’s the age they were shooting for here..? And again, it really doesn’t look like her. People’s face shapes don’t change that dramatically, or their nose shapes 🤣 you can improve graphics for still stick to character design a bit more IMO. There is something really odd about her design that I can’t put my finger on. It feels like her design is almost a mix of Rachel, and also DONTNOT’s new characters if that makes sense
