June bans the entire Haskell clan from her house and family after experiencing a nightmare in which all the Cleavers turn into Haskells following a day in which Freddie and Bomber Haskell cause trouble for her grandchildren and cost Wally one of his biggest clients in this 50th episode of the Leave it to Beaver revival series that debuted May 4, 1987.
Got to Get You Out of My Life, with a story co-created by Tony Dow and featuring the brief debut of Bomber Haskell (Christian Osmond), the second son of Eddie Haskell (and real-life Ken Osmond), is the 24th episode under the new title of The New Leave it to Beaver on Superstation WTBS and featuring most of the original cast of Leave it to Beaver, including Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow - the first season of 26 commercial-free episodes when the series was called Still the Beaver was on The Disney Channel from November 1984 - December 1985.
These videos are taken from my Betamax VCR personal recordings of the show when it originally aired. This episode is supplemented with higher quality personal video recordings of Hellogen Gammut from reruns of this episode in Australia five years later in 1992 - thanks to Mr. Gammut.
You can find the original Still the Beaver CBS TV reunion movie and all 26 episodes of the 1984-85 Still the Beaver TV series here at my KZfaq channel, as well as all prior to this from The New Leave it to Beaver, compilation videos, and more than a hundred other video clips of Leave it to Beaver cast members in other TV shows and movies... / shettrick

It would have been nice to see Ward interact with the grown-up characters and his grandchildren. He didn't live long enough to see his oldest son's children, which is sad. But I wonder if June Cleaver would have been as dominant and as active if Ward was still alive. Would she have become a Councilwoman if she wasn't a widow?

@@TimBoyd2012There is a continuity issue between the Still The Beaver movie and the New Leave It To Beaver series. In the 1983 movie which took place after Ward's death, Wally was struggling to have children with his wife and Beaver was the only one between the two of them who had kids. By the end of the movie, Wally and Mary Ellen have a boy. In the series, Wally has a daughter Kelly who is the same age as Ollie and has his boy Kevin later.

@shettrick
@shettrick 23 күн бұрын
@@jx5189 Well, there are various versions of this story, none of which I have ever seen or heard to be confirmed or true. One story is that his wife and mother-in-law were driven by his son to California (nothing about it being a "move," since the family stayed living in Minnesota) when an accident killed his mother-in-law; another version is that those same three were driving to visit Hugh in 1959, before production on the third season of the series, when the accident happened that also injured his son. Jerry Mathers once said the accident caused Hugh to become less engaged with the show, but Hugh had already had a long career in acting in movies and TV shows and took on directing episodes of Leave it to Beaver in the later seasons, which is what many actors do after several seasons of a series, including Jerry, Tony Dow and even Janice Kent/Mary Ellen on New Leave it to Beaver. And Hugh continued acting on TV series in Los Angeles such as Mannix and Petticoat Junction after Leave it to Beaver. Hugh participated in some local L.A. news reunion interviews of the cast in the early 1980s and Hugh's sister Kathryn also appeared on the second episode of Still the Beaver in 1984 - the Thanksgiving episode - so it doesn't seem like there were any bad feelings by Hugh or any of his family.

Maybe so, but remember the original series was never among the top 30 shows in any of its six seasons from 1957-63, and that was when their only competition was two other networks. It wasn't until years later in the 1970s when Ted Turner started running reruns daily on his TBS Superstation that it really became so popular. And I know this doesn't have anything to do with what you think would have made the show better, but the 1980s show was one of the first revival series and one of the first scripted series for Disney Channel and TBS Superstation. Enough people enjoyed it that it stayed on four seasons - 101 episodes, longer than many of what you call the disposable series, and which is the equivalent of about 5-10 seasons of series today that run only 10-20 episodes.

@@shettrick In the New York metro area, which also covered a few other eastern states, Leave it to Beaver used to be shown in reruns, coming on right after Dennis the Menace every weekday mornings beginning at 9am. This began in 1964 and continued throughout the rest of the 60's into the 70's. There was a lot of competition from other stations but they held their own consistently. I'm glad the new Leave it to Beaver series did well in the 80's, but they aren't being shown anymore,...that I know of, whereas the original series is and still very popular. I attribute this to the quality, charm and nostalgia of the original. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.
@shettrick

Yes, it's true that original LiTB was shown in reruns in local markets in 1960s - in fact, the show has been shown somewhere in the world non-stop since it began in 1957. My point was that it was not a huge success during its first run and did not achieve its universal and national popularity until 1970s when it was broadcast nationwide multiple times a day. The original Leave it to Beaver is one of my all-time favorite shows - I've posted hundreds of videos about it here; I've interviewed all the original show's actors for various publications dating back more than 40 years. No one ever claimed or suggests, certainly not me, that the 1980s revival series can hold a candle to the original. Most of the episodes aren't even very good. But your conclusion of why it isn't seen is not accurate. There is a long story involving international fugitives and massive fires that are why this show hasn't been seen in 30 years. Since the early 1990s the ownership and rights to the show have been in legal limbo, and a massive fire at Universal Studios in 2008 may or may not have destroyed all the Masters. This is why I spent two years dredging up my original recordings of every episode when they were originally shown and posted them here for the tens of thousands of new and old fans who appreciate seeing them, including Jerry Mathers and the late Tony Dow and his widow Lauren. That's all there is to it - it has nothing to do with trying to argue that they are in the same class as the originals.

Beaver was a big draw for TBS, and so maybe he held the episodes back until May, which was a "sweeps" month. Even if Turner's stations didn't participate in the sweeps directly, maybe he wanted something that would battle the "big three" (NBC, CBS, ABC) during that time. Just a guess.
@shettrick
@shettrick 4 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldclermont4888 That's a very plausible theory - I was thinking about the Feb and May Sweeps months too, though I was thinking that even though WTBS was a local Atlanta UHF station, that by 1987 it was primarily national cable network Superstation WTBS, whereas the Sweeps measured local broadcast stations including affiliates of major broadcast networks, which WTBS did not have (only local cable systems who carried WTBS, but were not measured individually by Nielsen as were local stations. Nope, that's why I spent two years uploading all my Betamax copies of recordings of every episode when they originally aired. These are the only copies ever made public for 30 years and there is no indication of any of these shows being prepared for any TV, DVD or streaming in near or distant future due to convoluted series of circumstances in early 1990s that left ownership and distribution rights in legal limbo, then a fire at Universal Studios in 2008 that destroyed 40,000 master tapes which may or may not have included Still/New Leave it to Beaver, and the decline in DVD sales over last ten years that has left little interest in anyone spending the time or money to put them on DVD. The limited exposure of the series in 1980s on cable networks where ratings wre not great and decline over last three seasons do not motivate many companies to spend time and money sorting out legal issues and cost of restoring and preparing them for digital streaming release. So, all that is why I went to effort and my own expense to put these on KZfaq for all of us to be able to enjoy, even if you don't like the quality.

I don't remember these episodes ever being aired were I lived in Ohio back in the eightys. Was it a daytime show or evening show does anyone out there know? I still watch reruns of the original series almost every day and believe I've seen everyone that was ever aired.

This show began as a primetime TV reunion movie on CBS in 1983 called Still the Beaver, which ran twice that year, then became a TV series on The Disney Channel in November 1984 and each new episode debuted in primetime every two weeks and ran multiple times in daytime and primetime. From season 2- season 4 it ran in primetime on TBS Superstation in primetime and daytime until 1989. The whole series was put into syndicated reruns for several years after that.
