AHA! With a bit a sleuthing through these vids I figured out what I think a lot of us wanna know.. an impact that can tighten to 300 ft lbs torque will loosen a 500 ft lb lug nut. I know TTC said Nut busting numbers cant be compared, but wait a minute. isn't the entire reason for this channels existence cuz tightening torque can't be compared? So TTC created an ARBITRARY base line from which we all derive valuable RELATIVE info. I dont see why the same can't be done re loosening torque. Even if only 1 episode tightening then loosening a nut to see what % of tightening torque is needed to loosen at varies torques to see the curves. In any case this is one of the best channel on you tube and has already saved me form wasting a ton of money.

I have the gen 2 3/8 from a couple yrs ago, supposed to be 600 nut busting, imo it seems a bit low. Tbh I dont think its much more powerful then the m12 3/8 stubby, well not 350ftlb better anyway. Little disappointed with that 3/8 m18 cause it got so much hype

I'd be really interested in seeing how the smaller 3/8 drive 2960-20 Gen 2 Mid-torque does compared to the 1/2 and the other wrenches. The 2960 would have the added benefit of getting into smaller spaces, but how much torque would be sacrificed on larger nuts when using a quality adapter? P.S. Best torque videos I've seen on all of youtube. I subscribed and love how you are using empirical data to make very repeatable with answers to the question why.

Did my brakes few weeks ago didn't feel like pulling out the compressor tried the milwaukee 1/4 inch impact driver on the lugs just to see took them off like nothing on a 1500 pickup it did not take off the caliper braket bolts tho this would be perfect for that

I'd be interested in seeing a test done on the M12 stubby impacts, they fit in some really tight spots and make decent torque with the 6.0 battery.

For your comparison chart, I suggest adding noise for air tools and battery life for cordless tools, since they important considerations. Great video.

Milwaukee does their testing with a hardened 5/8 corse thread bolt. That's probably going to come in pretty close to the rated specs

got mine (3/8") not long ago and for the low demand uses I have it's great I also use it with 6 AH batteries it might make a different it might not but those what I have for it. I might buy the high torque 1/2" (preferably gen 2 when it will come out) for bigger bolts (above 21 mm) if I see a need, great testing overall.

I understand that it would be hard to take your daily driver apart, but aren't you curious how that little battery-powered toy makes so much torque? As an old-school air tool user, I certainly am.

Great content the visuals on graphs really make it easy to see the torque curves. I was surprised i thought max torque was achieved within a couple seconds but it is even longer.

The 8.0 battery makes a big difference on the high torque in what i've experienced with it.

Just purchased a 2860-20. Would love to see your input on that impact compared to the Hercules equivalent. I need a junkyard impact 😂

I love your channel, and how you've set it up to actually be a demonstration of comparable results instead of just yapping about how comfortable the new grip is, or other trivial crap Is there a way you could rig up a test for undoing seized bolts/nuts? I'm, no engineer, but I was thinking about having some kind of piston push a clutch-like disk against the flange of a nut to simulate seized-on friction, and be able to dial the piston back if the gun doesn't crack it. I'm not sure if there'd be a way to put that in Nm or ft/lbs, but it could still give you a value (pressure applied) that the gun could overcome so you could compare them directly.

I am considering getting the 3 ah high output pack witht the 21700 cells to compare to the 4 ah packs I currently have for my 2962-20.

Question suggestions idea. Can you use a torque wrench to set nuts and bolts at actual units then show break away. I don't understand the value of your test. The reason I say that is all of us have snapped off a nut at the wrong time. Teal world test

PLEASE do the Dewalt 1/2 Mid Torque (DCF894). I don’t at all expect it to beat these, but I’m really interested nonetheless. I’d even be willing to send mine in - but it’s seen a couple years of use in a high production shop so it’s pretty well used at this point.

It's so stupid that manufacturers claim "there's no way to compare torque ratings". That's total BS! Torque is a very scientific and precisely measurable number.

I don’t think u should give a lower score for a product performing higher than expected (claimed torque). The score should be 100points for meeting or exceeding advertised torque. Subtract points the torque below advertised levels. Great video!

I would absolutely love to see a test of the 6.0 H.O., 8.0 H.O., or 12.0 H.O. on this impact. Milwaukee claims more power from the new battery line. And I thought it was a gimmick but I know I got more power out of my m18 ½" hammer drill. When used with the old style 5.0 battery, it would cut out when I pushed it in 2nd gear and when I put the 6.0 on it, I nearly ended up with a broken wrist not expecting it to keep pushing

do you test the milwaukee gen-1 in mode 1 or 2? what is the max output for those modes? say i want to torque the lug nuts on my car, if it it doesnt exceed 100 in mode 2 than that will be perfect.

Subscribed. I watched the Eric O impact. You guys cracked me up. I humbly admit to buying the HF 1/2" impact. It's top heavy but it has some torque for what I need. I'm working on my 64 Chevy C10 and needed some torque to remove some fasteners. Unless I missed it, have you tested the HF Bauer 1/2" impact? When mine burns up, I may go to the Milwaukee ones. I like the Dewalts too. Keep them coming.

I sold the new version a couple months after getting it. I hated the new grip and how front heavy it was.

Review! I tried using this impact wrench to drill an auger in the ground like around 4 feet long and the impact got really really hard and it had a little burning smell. I used it continuously for 40 seconds to a minute at a time. Can I damage the wrench if I keep using it like this? I have their gen 3 high impact coming in the mail just in case.

You should let them hammer to see if the gen 1 makes the same as gen 2 and at how many seconds

Just tested an electric heater that advertised 1500 watts but using a kill-o-watt usage meter, it is only using 1404 watts. Food for thoughts? Heaters? Ac’s?

This is tool porn! Love this channel. I have both the gen 1 and gen 2 mid torque impacts. The lights near the anvil are so much better. It surrounds the work piece. Love Milwaukee tools. Also have the rigid octane tools as well. Milwaukee has more power but rigid has cool features on octane batteries. Not sure why rigid canceled the octane line? Maybe it was cutting into Milwaukee’s sales? Hopefully, it will show up in Milwaukee’s line since they’re both owned by TTI!

This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

"Upgrading" this has little to do with performance. Who is able to tell the few extra torque numbers; very few, I will say. Go get yourself the new one on Ebay out of a kit, for a fraction of the tag price and sell the old one for whatever you can get... Throw-in a battery which you won't need down the way because the new batteries are something anyone should have, regardless of upgrading (high output) and you might even enjoy the new tool without spending a buck. Goodby!

The 3/8 mid torque is a huge disappointment waste of money no more power than my M12 stubby never even pull it out of the tool box disgusted with it
