Tip for the wheel lock issue, if it looks like an OE lock set, stop in at a dealer service department for the make and see if their master kit will have a match. If it is a factory set of locks, they should be able to remove them, and either replace with regular lug nuts or theyll sell you a new set of locks with a key, and install them. Dealers usually use a master set when servicing vehicles bc it is faster than trying to look for the owner's key, and they know they'll have one if it is lost. -Subaru Service Advisor

Howdy Matt, longtime listener here. My dad had a 2005 M5 when new, I texted him about the limiter, which he had never mentioned to me at the time. He confirmed it went WAY past 155, he doesn't remember but somewhere in the 180's. Like you said, I think he was just smart enough to keep his mouth shut and enjoy. Thanks for the revelation!

Hey, I owned at ‘06 M6 (V10) and I took it to the limiter right before I got the Dinan tune, but the limiter was at 170mph. I got the Dinan tune which took off the limiter and I got up to 190, but ran out of space. You know, for science.

Talking about V10 BMW M5/M6 - the factory speedo is known to grossly inaccurate at high speeds. Indicated 330 kph (205 mph) is usually 297-299 kph (185 mph) GPS. Also, the speed limiter on F90 M5 is real. Standard car stops at 270 kph indicated (263 kph GPS) and M Drivers package stops at 306 kph indicated (293 kph GPS)

About top speed limits on cars. I couple years ago I owned a 2013 MB cls63 amg. And in a vin decoder i found that all North America AMG have special firmware that provides higher speed limiter compared to Europe amg cars.

So, there's two M packages. The M driver's package is the one you don't need. But the M Drive Professional is the package that gives you the 10 level setting for the traction control.

BMW's driver's package that increases the speed limiter is not really for tracks, it's more to be able to go even faster on the autobahn.

It wouldn't be a cheap process overall to make a new one, but a 3D scanner and 3D printer could likely make a good negative so a shop could make a new casting/mold that a brake maker could fab one from. If we weren't so far away we could do the scan and print part. I wonder if the patent for the stock rotor is still in play, or if someone like Baer could manufacture new ones legally. Would be a fun partnership, but perhaps too niche of a product to make it financially worthwhile.

There are limiters on non M cars for sure. 130mph if I’m correct. On the back straight of VIR, these new m2’s should come close to 160.

From what I remember the 155 limiter only kicks in with top gear. To prevent autobahn cruising at higher speeds. 5th in an e46 m3 will do 167... allegedly.

How do you guys not mention the massive turbo lag of this new M2? I have driven my buddies prev gen M2 and his car has nothing, no balls until it hits 3k RPM then the power surges. I hate hate hate that about turbo cars and from what I have heard this new model has a lot of lag. Like no power until turbo kicks in. Oh and don’t get me started on the butt fugly styling and design. BMWs new design team needs to be FIRED! LOL.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of paying several companies to complete performance modifications on my car (which is nowhere near as expensive or interesting as a Ferrari), and it's always been a shit show. It's never gone as far as litigation, but I know it has for others who have used the same "shops". Never again.

-A E60 M5 SMG set my high speed record at 185. It was so calm at that speed. from 120 on, it’s just a freight train. -I suspect a lot of your subscribers have been with you a while and tastes align with yours. Would you willingly watch a M2 video? Maybe, but you’d most likely watch a video about the old stuff - apparently a late 60’s vette. New cars suck! The M2 is ugly and fat. -Wheel locks are the worst. - I do wish you’d cut back not the f bombs… I listen at work and sometimes with my 11 year old daughter. - Thanks for the show!

As a 1969 Corvette owner, Matt hit the nail on the head with his assessment. From the factory, these cars drive like tractors, and the seats are truly awful. If Zack would have scrolled down a few more clicks, he would have seen a picture from one of my Reddit posts. So close!

I would GUESS M2 for track driving due to it having a warranty. ANY E92 M3 you get is going to have maintenance question marks, unless it's an EAG creampuff.

Average vehicles pull between 0.7g and 0.9g of acceleration. A Porsche 911 Turbo S pulls 1.1g. A Taycan Turbo S produces 1.2g. As you can see the Delta so little , G-Force does not demonstrate effectively the differences of acceleration.

I feel like Matt jumped the shark when we rubbed elbows in Tegernsee last year (and he was working his way up the ramp to make the jump for awhile before that). I see a lot of people on his political right criticizing him, and I want to say as someone on his left, the problem isn't his politics, it's his disconnection from everyone he's offering views to. You can be left, right, or center; they're all wrong when you exist in a narrow elite bubble that we can't enter or relate to.

I spent a significant amount of time listening to Peterson and Tate, while almost hating them at first, but until I saw their points. Anyone saying they promote hate or abuse toward women just indicates to me that they didn't spend the time, which is fair, and given the clippy media and what being shown vs not it's work to find the truth about someone controversial.

What an odd take on Jordan Peterson... I've sort of casually been following him for a number of years, seen a lot of his content, and though I disagree with him on a few things (with his perspective on socialism and the Soviet Union in particular, for example), and I'm sure he's made some missteps here and there - I don't think I've seen him do or say anything that would warrant calling him a shitbag and a loser. It sounds like the video Matt was referring to is a hit piece. I'm pretty sure Joe Rogan, who has had Peterson on a dozen times, would beg to differ.

Agree with you, but listening to Matt for a while I'm not surprised. It's just his views on things which I agree with a lot but don't on many too, but calling JP a bad person is a defiantly a long stretch.
