Definitely agree. I watch channels of people I feel I could be friends with in real life. At the end of the day there is only so much you can say about makeup. If I didn't like Jessica as an individual I wouldn't still be watching her eight years later.

I am SO glad sunscreen is having a moment because it is very important! Several years ago my husband had melanoma in not one, but two moles at the same time. He had them removed and also a lymph node to see if it had spread past the moles…LUCKILY it had not! Wear your sunscreen people! 😊❤️

I had my first baby June 3 and it was a traumatizing labour and delivery from when I got induced it was 48 hours and ended in emergency c section. Definitely love people who chat and talk about their life, funny anecdotes etc - it’s why I love watching you so much! Partially bc most of the time, I’m not intending to buy makeup every moment so my main priority isn’t hearinng a review, and would rather hear about someones life/growth and then be drawn into recommendations through that! also find it supet comforying - coming from someone in their early 20s here🙋‍♀️

My must dose are spf, brows and lips. I can't wear "makeup" at my job , but brows and lips with spf are a must. I usually powder down the spf as well to keep my face from getting greasy looking.

YES chatting about random stuff makes us feel like we are friends hanging out chatting and sharing. It's a big deal to make a connection with others and I think just chatting creates that connection. With you it feels like we are in the room just hanging out. I wonder if people who watch your videos that see you in person feel like they already know you and are your bestie? I like watching my favorite ppl just talk about what pops in their head. You and Taylor Wynn are my favorite and have been for a long time now. I watch ALL of Andrew Huberman’s podcasts. He has such amazing advice. Anyone who hasn’t seen him should definitely check it out. He’s a neuroscientist with practical tips, it’s amazing!

I’m sure someone has already said this, but I would guess the problem is less the Rare Beauty tinted moisturizer and more the combo of it with the Murad sunscreen. I use (and like) the other version of that Murad sunscreen, which is also greasy-adjacent feeling, and I can’t imagine putting something over it because it’s kind of … gooey. I’d be curious for your reaction to the RB with something else under it

Yes I do love the conversational tone of a get ready with me. I do also like the interspersion of make up talk too! I’m Ithe same as you, KZfaq has become like my TV watching. I do interspersed it with different shows, like the office, Gilmore girls parks and rec, psych… But most regularly it’s KZfaq. I have to say I genuinely love the application of make up, the process of it is very soothing to me. What I wear as a quick out the door look now at 57 years old, is sunscreen tinted moisturizer always mascara and always lipgloss of some kind. Most the time I do add a little blush, regularly a little tight line. However when I was younger I rarely wore foundation to run around in. It was basically just mascara and a little lipgloss.

I love when you talk about both makeup and non-makeup! Like you, I've been watching KZfaq for years...15 to be exact! I started in early high school and watched mostly beauty gurus until post college. At that point, I was more into lifestyle content, but I still watched a few more makeup-centered KZfaqrs that I just really liked, and that includes you! I watch all of your videos, makeup or otherwise :) I doubt I will ever start following a new (to me) beauty guru, tbh. But I still enjoy makeup and mostly it's just important for me to "vibe" with the content creator. I don't have kids, but I watch all of your parent-related content just as intently as everything else! I love these kinds of videos where you're getting ready or testing things out and just chatting about life in between. Thanks for being you and for making fabulous, relatable, easy-going content!

The reason I watch your videos consistently is because you don’t just talk about the makeup, it feels like I’m having a normal chat with a friend and we get to know you, who you are and how you think, I stopped watching other KZfaqrs especially makeup driven channels because they’re so impersonal, they almost come off robotic and like they have no personality. I loveeee the Rare Beauty tinted moisturizer. Put the bottle directly on my face and then blend in with my fingers! I also use a DRY beauty sponge to tap gently over my face when I want a seamless blend (normally around my nose and eyebrows)!

Talking about SPF - I love the Pacifica vegan collagen one. Great texture, SPF 30, no white cast, no pore clogging. Wears great under makeup. Highly recommend.

Gosh, I agree with almost everyone's comments about the conversational style of your videos. I love it!❤ Now the 2nd thing: if I'm doing minimal make up, I always use skincare and spf. Then an absolute must (!!) is eyebrows cuz mine are practically invisible without it. Absolute must! Then I also use eye shadow primer that has some neutral pigment and then a cream shadow, a crease shadow, black liner pencil in upper waterline and a little on top. Then a glowy primer, blush, highlighter, lipstick. oh ya, undereye concealer. I probably will brush Essence Nude powder all over. That may sound like a lot but I am turning 76 in July so I need all the help I can get. lol I pretty much don't go *anywhere* w/o at least those items on. If I'm doing a full face, I will add foundation, bronzer/contour, a light veil of powder, and a full eye shadow look, winged liner plus mascara and setting spray. 😁

If I'm doing more makeup than just a lipstick or lip gloss, I'm starting with a glowy moisturiser, eye primer, and eyeshadow, and maybe a mascara and a tinted brow gel, depending on how dramatic my eyeshadow is, and then a face mist or setting spray just because I enjoy that step, and I'll still use a lipstick or lip gloss, or sometimes a tinted lip balm. Sometimes I do more than that, but not very often. When it comes to whether or not I enjoy KZfaqrs talking about non-beauty things in beauty-related videos, I think it ultimately depends on the KZfaqr and the type of video, but, generally speaking, I do love it. I'd love to see you do a full face of holy grail products.

I almost never wear liquid foundation. I’m so oily-I am loving the powder foundations. I have found that with full coverage concealers that I really need to let the set up before I blend. I usually put concealer on my under eyes, do my brows and then blend my concealer. The coverage is so much better that way.

I love and prefer natural light! Gives a more realistic view of how stuff sits on the skin and I love seeing skin with all the good and not as good. Lights wash out and make it harder to see texture. Loved this video!!

I'm generally keeping a small collection of makeup and using things up before buying more so I'm generally not in it for the makeup anymore like I was years ago....im in it for the people and personalities that I find fun and comforting and like were 'friends'. I still enjoy watching makeup videos from the people I already know and love but generally not going out and looking for new makeup people to follow. vlogs are my fav these days!
