In this video, I compare the new Maybelline sky-high mascara to the fan-favorite L'Oreal voluminous lash paradise mascara. I show you the application of both mascaras and also do an 8-hour wear test to see how they last throughout the day.
UPDATE: I wore the sky high and it transferred slightly on me again. Still minimal flaking though! And I would say it still wears better than the loreal lash paradise. Also, I use my glowbiotics probiotic acne cleanser to take off my makeup, and although the sky-high washes off in weird chunks, I don't have trouble removing it. Although, if you use a different makeup remover I could see it being difficult to get off. I think it all depends on the makeup remover you use, I wish I could be more helpful!

The maybelline sky high mascara gives a lot more length and separation. The L’Oréal lash paradise gives length, more volume, and just an overall fluffier look to your lashes :)

I totally agree with that! I enjoy the fluffier look more but the voluminous flakes sooo much on me and smudges all the time so I had to stop using it :(

The lash paradise looks waaaaaay better! Especially when you zoomed out in the end, i can really see your lashes from far away where as the other side i cant.

I love the voluminous mascara. It gives me exactly what I want. However, I noticed (after a few purchases) the container dries out fast/gets clumpy. As a result, I’m left feeling like I wasted my money. I’ve been using the Sky High mascara lately & *so far* I have no complaints. The design of the brush is also a positive for me. Ulta currently has a spring haul sale going on (today is the last day) & the Sky High mascaras are 30% off!! I know where I’m headed later lol. SN: The voluminous mascaras are 2 for $15 at Ulta today, but eh! I’ll just stick to Sky High for now. I may give voluminous another chance down the line since I do love the results.

Wow your lashes look amazing! I have tried the Lash Paradise too and I loved it but that was before I discovered Maybelline’s Lash Lift mascara and made that my holy grail. But I saw that Maybelline came out with a new mascara and ofc I just had to watch reviews and yours came up. Personally, I like volume for my lashes but I do agree that the big wand is kind of hard for the application. Your lashes look really good with the Sky High side! Need to try it out ASAP. You just gained a new subscriber btw (when I heard you do lots of mascara reviews I was like, yaaaassss). Really liked how detailed you are in explaining, definitely a good review video.

Kate, have you tried tubing mascaras? My biggest pet peeve with mascara is also flaking, and tubing mascaras are designed specifically to not flake. I personally haven't tried it yet, but I heard that one of the best tubing mascaras is the drugstore L'oreal Double Extend. I would love to see a review from you on this! I heard it provides excellent length as well, which seems to be something you like in a mascara. I have watched a lot of your videos, thank you for giving such good reviews! Edit: remove it with warm water and gentle pressure, people think it's hard to remove but they're trying to use makeup remover and it just doesn't budge. That's the idea, that it would be smudge proof without being hard to take off like waterproof mascaras.

@@stephaniebrown5051 It's much easier to remove. It's a tubing mascara so warm water and a facecloth is all you need to remove it. It doesn't even run when you cry... It's great.

If you have not tried it yet, i highly recommend using a small metal lash comb (like tweezerman folding lash comb) after each coat. It separates and remove clumps.

I was trying to have an alternative to the Sky High mascara. Mine dried out a month after I purchased it. Now it looks clumpy every time I apply it. I had never tried it without curling my eyelashes before. I gave it a try today after watching your video and... oh, no. I definitely need to curl my eyelashes before applying mascara lol.

I used to use random shampoos and conditioners that I found at the grocery store, but I changed my hair care routine a while ago and have noticed a lot of changes! I currently use the Nature Lab Volume Shampoo: amzn.to/3mLWdVC and then the Nature Lab Smoothing Conditioner: amzn.to/2LPbgki That's all I use on my hair! I'm very minimal when it comes to my routine. I shampoo my hair upside down (to create more volume) and then dry my hair with a t-shirt instead of a towel.

I’ve been layering these two. First I apply one or two coats of the lash paradise then top it off with the Skyhigh. It helps with the flaking I usually get with lash paradise, adds some length, darkening and holds the curl too.

I'll buy a mascara just because I like the brush. I genuinely miss the old "soft lash" that used to sale. I don't remember the company. I hate certain formulas. Flakiness is a huge peeve. I prefer fluffy, long bristled wands but I do not like the comb hard bristled wands.

I totally agree!! A mascara brush is soooo important as to whether or not I’ll like it. I’ve never heard of that mascara, but I hate when companies stop selling products I love it’s so annoying! Flakiness is soooo annoying I feel like almost every mascara flakes nowadays!

@@katecartermakeup This old mascara was not water proof but did not smudge easily and it left your lashes feeling much softer than anything I've come across since. Even google doesn't recognize it or I'd be able to give better detail.

I always use the L'oreal paradise and I just bought the sky high and hated it at first but then I started doing my first layer with the loreal paradise until I like it and on top ill put the sky high on top for length highly recommend mixing them (:

Hmmm great question!! Honestly i would take the Maybelline sky high mascara! It rarely flakes, and even tho it’s smudged a few times on me it’s extremely minimal compared to other mascaras that I’ve tried!!💕 the Maybelline colossal mascara is also amazing!❤️

@@katecartermakeup thank you Kate does the Maybelline sky high wash off easily ? So many things that a mascara needs to be ? Easily removed , lengthening , thickening ,separating and most importantly no smudging and flaking !!! Love your reviews .

@@judegould8743 For me, the sky high washes off easily! I use a face wash that I always use to take off my makeup and I never have trouble taking off mascara unless it’s waterproof. It does come off in like chunks which is weird but it always comes off. It’s very separating and lengthening! But I know right! In order for me to like a mascara it needs to hit all of the qualifications. Right now the sky high is my favorite, but I’m always in the search for better mascaras! :)

(It could be harder to get off if you use makeup wipes or a liquid makeup remover I’m not too sure)

It’s like 22$ Canadian and on Amazon it’s 30 I just got it on buy and sell for 16$ like it’s nuts the prices the older one is like 10/12$

How "sticky" is the sky high Mascara after drying? Because the reason I hated the lash paradise (well, the european version, I think it just has a different packaging?) is that my top lashes got caught in my bottom lashes for whatever reason and it drove me NUTS lmao

I’ve noticed that too with the lash paradise!!! But so far the sky high hasn’t done that to my lashes! So I’d say it’s not that sticky :)💗

I thought it said Ariana Grande at first lol.....they both look SO good. I go for curl & length over thickness so I like the sky high better. The lash paradise seemed to fall down a little

I use the glowbiotics probiotic acne cleanser (it’s on Amazon) i know it’s not a traditional makeup remover but it gets rid of the sky high pretty easily :) I hope someone has a cheaper alternative though💗

Honestly, I truly despise the lash paradise and I don't understand all the hype around it or the high reviews. For me, it was terrible and never made any real difference at all in my lashes 🤷‍♀️

Just got the new Sky High, it's good but has fibres which tend to irritate my eyes, for length there will NEVER be anything to beat Loreal Telescopic Original, not even this new Maybelline beats it.

That sucks that the fibers irritate your eyes! :/ but I’ve always loved the loreal telescopic but it smudges everywhere on me sadly. It does give you super long lashes though!💕
