((NEW REMADE VERSION))
Here's the new remade version of the Forest Mountain theme song I composed for JKB's fan game, Mega Man X: Corrupted.
The track has been updated to better fit with the rest of the soundtrack. The old version was one of the earliest tracks I composed for the project, when I was very young and inexperienced.
Artwork in the video is also made by me.
Hope you like it!

In overall quality, I definitely prefer this version: the beat and the energy it has as well as the choice to have electric guitars play the majority of the parts really helped it. However, what I really REALLY liked about the old one was the melody, even if it wasn’t very lengthy to begin with. Still, it’s great seeing this project still making progress after so long, and seeing you improve your style is also a gift. This soundtrack is easily my favourite amongst anything Mega Man X-related, it really is a treasure.

Holy crap this is 100 percent ON POINT with how an X song should sound! It's got that nice crunchy guitar but it still manages to deliver the amosphere of a forest with the accents in the background (I wanna say pan flutes?) and it delivers! I'd say this fits right in with Capcom's actual level tunes, except it actually SURPASSES a lot of it (Looking at you X3 and X8) so this is supremely solid! Great work!

I can hear this as being the version that plays during the final four mavericks, and the original one being the default theme for the area. Fantastic tune either way! I'm seriously excited for the eventual release.

HOLY SHOIT! An awesome redo of the already well composed and long standing forest theme, after all these years! Now I'm imagining how the Swamp, Underwater, and Zero Opening stage tracks will be redone! However, I still kind of miss the more lighthearted old version of the Forest Mountain theme, so maybe it would be nice if the old version of the track can be played in the game through an easter egg trigger.

Gnarly new rendition, man! Feels more expansive and adventurous, although I do miss the lead guitar from the original cut that felt a little more like it could have been ripped straight out of the SNES MMX games. Even so, there is a certain higher level of quality to this version that I can't quite put my finger on. If you're deciding to retool all of MMXC's soundtrack, I can only hope the Power Plant doesn't change instrumentation too much. That song is too damn good...

Considering the sprites are being updated to being a mix between the 16 bit style and 32 bit style, i'm all for the music following suit by expanding on the instruments being used. This sounds phenomenal.

I still listen to the original pretty frequently, but frankly you've had enough comments here talking up that version at the expense of this one, so I won't add another voice to that pile. Instead, I'll say that I appreciate the work you're doing here, and that this is a nice fresh take on an old favorite of mine!

This forest theme sounds really awesome and heavier than the previous one but I prefer the first version .I think it just sounds more like classic Megaman x. Still sounds great though

it doesnt have to, but given the art style and general direction of the game and its concepts, yeah, its nice to have it resemble familiar things i think one reason so many people are looking forward to this game is because of nostalgia, they want to play something similar to the first 3 Mega Man X games and this game is a way to fulfill that so why does it NOT have to mimic MMX style? keep in mind these are all just opinions, we arent trying to tell the game creator which things he should or shouldnt do, we are just offering our thoughts also im not familiar with the name NitroFlasher, is that the screen name Dominic Ninmark goes by other places? because as far as im aware, Dominic is the main music-maker for the game so far, hence why he did all those tracks and is even remaking some of them now

I like how this is more in line with the newer tracks, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't saddened by the fact the part in the old one just before it loops didn't make it. That was my favorite part of the song.

Superman18000 people after 10 years are usually long gone with an old project they were working on, but no Jkb is still here working his ass off with this game, while going to school, and most likely working as well, and we have people bitching about how long its gonna take to come out. I don't want another mighty no.9 for sure (wasted money on tht) I waited this long I don't care how long I gotta wait, once this game comes out it will be in news articles I'm sure of it.

I like the new composition (as you've changed some bits here and there), however I'm more fond of the use of more SNES-like sound banks that you used in the previous version. The little bit that sounds in the old version with the very high pitch sound was perfect to set a MMX type of tune, for example. Both do sound great, this is just constructive criticism. I'd love to see a combination of the two, I think there's a "best of both worlds" thing that could happen there.

I agree with you Hart Hunt. This version seems too heavy for a forest theme in my opinion. It makes me think of Tunnel Rhino from X3. The original felt really classy to me like X1 or X2. I dig the second transition of this song tho. I'm hoping Jkb will consider swapping of tracks in game but I doubt it. If anything I hope people are able to just mod sound files off the finished game one day and change it, even tho I still enjoy both of them. Also keep it up with X2 Hard Type. Looking good so far. (Haven't talked to you in a while as well, usually talk with you in Calebs twitch chat on my account Darmerz,) keep up the good work tho dude.

The thing is the in-game forest underwent a complete redesign, so it no longer had the Sting Chameleon tile set, and if you look at JKB's video on Armor combos (from this past February?) you'll hear that the old forest theme just didn't go well with the new forest. Naturally, they made a new forest theme.

This one is better than the original, it is more background music in nature but still rocks. The older version had some parts that were too attention grabbing. This one has a better mix and more laidback jam feel to it.

Sorry to say that I like the older one better. As one person below mentioned, it has way more of an SNES feel to it. This one would be a bit more pleasing if it didn't sound so similar to your newly updated Highway track. The new Highway track on the other hand sounds crisper and bolder and much improved.

I like both the old and current version. If forced to pick one though, this version sounds more "complete"? While the previous version sounds typical MMX-ish, I pick up traces/slight derivations of other SNES music in this one, primarily Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. So, yup, huge kudos to you! =)

Are the vibraphone and Bowed Glass sounding instrument from one of the Mega Man X games? They sound like something that could be from one of the PlayStation entries. Also, just marathoned a bunch of tracks; the effect you did for Hurricane Hoatzim's lead, where the Square Wave and X1 Overdrive overlapped, was really rad. PS: Are you planning on re-uploading previous tracks with the slightly higher audio quality (as heard in Opening Stage and Highway, as well as here), or will they only receive the crisp, HQ quality treatment for the final game?

Late comment, but this feels very Megaman ZX, which is great since ZX and ZXA are my two favorite platforming Megaman games, with Rockman EXE WS/8/& Forte as a close second threeway tie.
