Yay, the state that I'm from! I figured this one would be difficult. Honestly the best thing to be done for another speedrun is to be familiar NM county names. The geographic features help, but unlike some other states the building styles and signs mostly do not; especially when on a county road.

Note on the county thing.. New Mexico has far fewer and much larger counties than typical US states

@@nathanhass True, but to clarify I was saying that because a lot of things in New Mexico towns tend to be named after the county there in. For example, if Lordsburg or Portales came up on here (both places I've lived), looking for businesses, medical services, or county roads that said 'Hidalgo' or 'Roosevelt' respectively would have helped. Likewise in this video, knowing where San Juan, Sierra, or Rio Arriba counties were would have saved a lot of time when there weren't many other clues to go off of.

@@cjwhitmore1881 I completely agree and with fewer and larger and less populated counties they are much more useful and easier to learn than would be other states

The shopping center that you passed when looking for clues on the first place on your second run used to have a hobby shop that my late father was a regular customer at. If you had gone the other way you would have gone past where my family dentist office used to be located.

nm is awesome! caverns are cool, and we drive thru nm all the time to get to colorado, seeing capulin is always something we look forward to

One of my favorite states! Santa Fe is tiny favorite small city in the country, the mountains there are gorgeous, and the food is some of the best in the country! Been to Santa Fe, Bandelier National Monument, and Albuquerque and all are great

i was born in albuquerque and my whole family is from there! i’ve spent a lot of time across new mexico so i’m very excited for this episode since i have some history with this state!

I have stayed nights in Tucumcari, Santa Rosa, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Gallup. I've been to Gallup more than any other place in the state.

I've been to a lot of NM national parks (including Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands), as well as Roswell and Taos.

My dad has a house in Santa Fe because he's a theoretical physicist and worked at LANL for a couple of years. I got to go once, for a very short time. But I thought that Santa Fe was full of my people.

I am from Northern New Mexico not far from Los Alamos, I have seen a lot in the Northern part of the state I would say my favorite thing would be the small towns way up in the moutians and the forest roads of Carson National Forest. It is a beautiful place. I have not really been back to New Mexico in about 13 years though. At 3:17 you can actually see a famous land mark, it is Cerro Pedernal, this is the mountain that inspired world famous artist Georgia O'Keeffe to settle at here home near here at the Ghost Ranch. her ashes were spread on top of that mountain. Anyway I was raised very near here I grew up swimming and cliff jumping in the Abiquiu Lake and I saw this mountain nearly every day. Super rural spot but beautiful.

Back when I used to play geoguesser everyday, I always hated it when after traveling forever in one direction with no clues, I'd go back to the start and just around the bend or over the hill in the other direction was a clue that would let you zero right in.

I went through Albuquerque and drove by Walter White's house, and went to Rio Grande Nature Center State Park in the city. Wish I could have done more in the state though!
