I had NMSU upsetting UConn. Gotta represent the Land of Enchantment. It was NMSU's first NCAA Tournament win since 1993. 29 years ago.

I've been an Aggie fan since 1969, the year _before_ the "Amazin' Aggies" made it to the Final Four. My oldest brother was an NMSU student back then, and he taught me that the *best* basketball in the Land of Enchantment comes out of Las Cruces. So, even though I went to UNM, I am and always will be an Aggie.

It's also Aggies at UC-Davis (west of Sacramento, CA) and Utah St. Univ. (north of Salt Lake City). Given how at least NMSU and Texas A&M basically share the same colors, this mistake is one I can forgive.

Another thing there was lack of homework, neither of them mentioned how Teddy always touches his late mom's tattoo on his neck before releasing a FT shot and they had, what a dozen chances? That is meaningful since Teddy buckets was clearly the best player on the court that day. Shoot, i'd listen to Jack Nixon the voice of the Aggies, if it were syncronized with the TV feed.

It's an upset in terms of seeding, but in terms of how the teams were set up (NMSU starting guards are big, one being WAC player of the year), shouldn't be a shock NMSU won this one. UCONN has a good defense, but they were playing from behind the majority of the game.

@@slashismyhommie8182 they're a 12th seed because the committee always disrepects mid power conferences and save the higher seeds for big 10, ACC and big east schools. Shoot if you always have 7-8 schools from these conferences each year, someone is bound to get through. Anyone else notice over the past 30+ years when Duke and NC get in regardless they usually have them play with 100 miles of their campus's? That protects them from getting upset by an unknown upstart. What the heck is Buffalo (no disrespect to city) doing as a host for the West region? Might as well have Phoenix hold an Eastern region game or, Santa Barbara. I understand bids by cities, facilities/accommodations, etc but this has gone too far. I have a lot of distain for both the polls and eastern run NCAA selection committess over the years. And i sorely miss John Wooden, the greatest college baskerball coach to ever live.

Every time I saw UConn play this season I thought that they looked like a one-and-done team in the NCAA tournament. Not that they were a bad team by any means, just nothing about them that was overly impressive. I think they were actually more of an 8/9 seed caliber team than a 5-seed. NMSU was flat-out the better team and it wasn't surprising.

@@kingfamily6594 Hurley instills more discipline among the payers than Ollie, but I don't recall UConn losing to lower seeds in the Big Dance under Ollie. This is the second season in a row that they came out lethargic and lost to a lower seed in the opening round under Hurley.

@@rovingwarrior3710 Look at their overall year by year progress though, and the roster they're working with. 2020: Probably would've been in the NIT, made late season push 2021: Forgot which seed, but made the tourney 2022: Higher seed than previous year, beat Villanova and Auburn Outside of Tyrese, this team was trash offensively but yet Hurley got them to a 5 seed. There were better rosters under Ollie but they underachieved; Hurley gets the absolute best out of his guys.

@@kingfamily6594 UConn did not have better rosters under Ollie and Hurley's UConn teams have thus far underachieved more so than Ollie's. The 2020 team made a late push but what about Ollie's 2014 team that made the tournament as a 7 seed and made a late push winning something called the National Championship, heard about that? Fact is Hurley's teams have lost the past two years in the opening round of the tournament as a 7 seed last year and a five seed this year losing to 10 and 7 seeds respectively, by not matching their lower seeded opponents intensity.

Huskies fought hard as always, cutting a 14 point lead down to 1 with 1:16 left and gave themselves a chance but a few critical mistakes and too big of a hole to dig out of. Allen just never missed when it counted, contested or not, and that was the difference in the game.

Even thought he refs did everything they could to let UConn come back and try to win. The right team won, they weren't getting any fouls called pretty much the entire game.i know the refs have been letting teams play in these first sets of games but if they had made the calls UConn would have been blown out.

@@preston3884 no I'm not saying there weren't any fouls called but if you look everytime UConn got down by double digits the refs weren't calling very much if anything against UConn. To the point where players were taking charges and getting hit with no calls being made. In the end I'm not a fan of either team So I could really care less it was a simple observation. I wasn't trying to offend any fan boys that lost on this game....

That's bull. There were many questionable foul calls or lack of that went against UConn as well. That so call steal by Allen near the end before he converted the 3 point play looked very much like a foul. And you are wrong, the stats show UConn was called for 17 fouls in the game to 16 called against NSMU.

But if you look at when the time of penalties occured alot of fouls just so happen to occur and sent them to the free throw line when they were starting to struggle and getting down by double digits. So based off your own comment they didn't make calls with an example given and then you turn around and give me the stat line of how many fouls there were for each team and say it's bull. Lol so they did or didn't????? Because If they did then the first part of your comment would be wrong and if they didn't then the second part of your comment would basically be pointless.

A lot of what you said is talking in circles an not making any clear point. Both teams shot 13 free throws and only 4 of NMSU's came at the end when UConn was is desperation an fouling intentionally. And you claim that it seemed no foul calls were being called against UConn for about the entire game and this is what you said, but the only proof of that would be in the stats whether you want to know them or not, and they show that you are wrong.

I'm a huge uconn fan. Like hurley also..but they were not coached well in this game at all. They let this kid allen..run roughshod over them all friggin day. I know we're limited offensively...but come on. ..we made this kid look like michael jordan out their today...hes good. But not that good. Were suppose to be very good defensive team. We let one player beat us today.. I suggest hurley..start recruiting some kids. That can actually create their own shot have great athletes is fine like we do have..but can't throw the ball in the ocean.doest work..we need players like Gillespie from Villanova....players who can shoot. Like booknight..elamine...check spelling.. This kid from Mexico state..needs to learn a little humility also..totally inappropriate him Wolfgang after every basket..I know he's excited..rightfully so..but he way overdid it..my humble opinion..I'm not a spoiled sport..by no means..but this kid Allen...needs to act..like he's been there before..very cheesy he was...

Mark, re-read what you've written here. Did you attend 12 years of school? You don't know about the state of New Mexico? You are so very biased as you probably got a kick out of how the commentators were ultra biased toward THE UCONN. Don't be bitter over the better team being victorious that day and your concept of Teddy Allen was mean spirited and unreasonable. BTW, all the players are just kids, right? I'll bet you never heard of Lou Henson either, right? I'll quit there. By the way, if you ever get out west to the 48th state of the union, don't forget your passport!
