I ended last year with complete burnout. My plants were looking sad, and I was struggling to find the joy in plant care again. It became what I "had" to do and not what I actually wanted to do a lot of the time (which I hated feeling).
SOO(!!) I started this year with a HUGE reset in my collection - I made myself do all the horrible things like cleaning and organising that I usually despise... And you know what!? It was fine, and it genuinely wasn't that difficult. Because of this, I've managed to have a really fun and productive month of plant care, and I'm vowing from now to try and stick to this throughout the year.
I can often struggle to find the motivation for plant care, but I'm finding ways to help myself, and I hope it helps some of you too. So if you're watching this video, I challenge you to grab a plant (or few) and start getting on top with me. Let's do this together!! 😆

Hey Claire just had an idea for future videos if you fancied more content ideas. Maybe it would be fun for your fans/followers to send a picture and description of a particular room/shelf/area ect that they would like plant recommendations for? Maybe you could suggest which plants would look good and be happy in that spot and give us a brief explanation of care tips. 😊 Just an idea. Might suck. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for sharing! I’m obsessed with that leaf ladder. It looks so polished and cohesive. Checking out their kickstarter, they are using environmentally-friendly material, PLA, and it is 3D printed so very little material waste. I know I’m raving like I have a vested interest, which I really don’t, but I really really want them to succeed because that’s the first moss pole that truly looks aesthetically appealing even before it is covered up by leaves. They are California based, so US shipping is cheaper, but their shipping for other countries is still not bad at all. I’m crossing my fingers.

Hi Claire i love yr planty things. I really enjoy watching u and appreciate yr content its very relaxing, informative but yet fun. May i suggest a plastic container ( like the see through boxes u can get in poundland etc) for specially the glass vessels n small pots on yr shelves on the cupboard of chaos. U can organise by material,size n purpose n things won't fall that easy. Xx

Absolutely love watching your videos. Was just thinking, regarding finding a big enough pot with good drainage to for your Alocasia Portadora, I've drilled holes in the bottom of my pots and it's allowed me to customise how much drainage each plastic pot has. Could even use scissors or a knife to cut holes? Which would allow you to grow it in semihydro!!

those moss poles look very impractical…you have to keep buying parts and can you even buy bigger sizes of the square part that the pots sit in? I imagine they also dry out very quickly since the moss pole itself is so narrow. Hard pass… I’d much rather get the Rousseau set for wall mounting moss poles or even build one myself 🙂 I grow a lot of Anthurium and if you want the leaves to size up, increase their pot size. This has worked for my entire collection of anthurium, hybrids and pure species. But keep the substrate on the chunky side. 1/1/1 ratio of bark, soil and pumice, then adjust as needed according to your growing conditions.

Thanks, Claire! Once again, thanks to you, I've got loads done around the house :) About those corms, why do you peel them? I've been putting them into tupperware with damp sphagnum as they are, dark "skin" and all, and never had any problems sprouting them.
@ronjakh
@ronjakh 6 ай бұрын
I clean them up because the skin that sits on the outside can rot in high humidity and also I just enjoy it. It’s satisfying to see peel it off and see the clean corm afterwards 😄 there’s no real harm in leaving it on and there’s no harm in removing it, so it comes down to preference

Just don’t get a climbing plant then:-) I build my own mosspoles because I need too many, and I can recommend them for climbing plants. If someone just wants a few, why not buy some kits? They wouldn’t be sold if there weren’t demand, and it keeps the plants happy 😊

@@michaela467 I have a few moss poles in my house and they’re a must for climbing plants. These black ones however seem annoying…you have to keep buying parts for it, both the climbing part and the pot part. I’d much rather have the Rousseau wall mounting set which offers much more flexibility. they’re easy to diy as well. but to each their own. Can’t imagine these black ones stay moist for very long though, considering how narrow the climbing part is
