The colors of these turtles are different from the ones released in 1992. these are the colors of the 2012 turtles. So basically, they took the old line of action figures and gave them the colors from the newer line of action figures.

I don't have any of the original turtles because I wasn't born in the 80's or The 90's. the originals are kind of expensive for me to buy, but I do think that this a really smart idea that playmates re- released them for people who don't have them, can have them now so they don't have to pay like 1 million dollars for just 4 figures.

i have my original turtles, i have the recent retro box set and this movies box set. The movie figures are very different however, the weapons are a let down but at the price point, having it for a display piece or even for a kid who loves the original turtles films is great. Personally i wish they had Tockar and Razor instead of supershredder and Splinter.

I dont know why they keep doing that with the 88 repaint, the same thing happened in the Comic Book Turtles set, they just repainted 88 Splinter and Shredder.

I'm surprised they didn't do the 1995 unflocked Movie Splinter. I do see why they went with a new variant of the '88 Splinter. It's cost effective and gives the retro line a new variant figure. Not great, but for a limited edition line it gets the job done.

Crazy how we have to put ourselves through so much stress to get neca figures that’ll probably break later due to the poor quality control.

The only one of the movie stars figures I had as a kid was Raphael...my parents weren't going to buy the whole set for me all over again...I don't mind buying 6 figures for $45.00 to have that feeling of having a complete set I didn't have as a kid. As much as I don't like what they did to Splinter, my kids an I will enjoy pretending to play the first two movies with these figures. Is there a date these are due to come out? I live in CT and on the website, it says on all Targets in CT that "not sold in this store"...did you get these early like your castle grayskull?

I am glad I just finished my collection of the original set. Just navigating the knock off set was hard enough. Now Ebay is full of these turtles too!

You pretty much spent $40 on a box. That’s how I felt when I bought the mirage box set. I passed on these because they don’t have the right weapons, the colors are off, and they all use Leo’s body instead of having their unique sculpts. If they were correct I would have bought one just to have a set of doubles. That Splinter looks awful haha. The hand and feet color is ugly as can be. Nice review!

This line of classic reissues is my favorite thing to collect currently. The colors do look a lil off but that doesn't bother me much. That Splinter does look atrocious though. I got the turtles individually from Target. I hope they continue to delve into the past and bring us more of our favorites from the original series.

I have the OG movie turtles Donatello and my brother's Michelangelo and the OG movie version of Splinter "with real rat fur!" Loved the way those movie toys felt and looked!

a lot of moulds degrade and wear out over time, sometimes they straight up go missing. so maybe something similar like that happened to the weapon molds, shredder being the exception

They went cheap because they knew it would sellout. Why is it I have never seen any NECA at Walmart? And why can I never find any at Target? NECA really has screwed us true collectors by driving up the secondary market. NECA please make more volume so we have a chance! Great review, my first watch of your channel.

I'm not really minding the mocked up splinter. I understand their not going to find every steel mould, and he does not look too bad next to shredder. The lack of movie turtle weapons is the bummer here. Probably not buying this one. But hopefully they can improve. I know playmates can deliver a quality toy even today.

It's a total bummer that Playmates thing re-release the movie star turtle figures with their original accessories, posability and card backs

Still love my original movie stars figures. Just got mines a few months ago. I got the target one and I wasn't really impressed. So I gave Target ones to my son. Lol. Vintage always win.

I just bought all 4 movie turtles at Walmart for 10 each wish they had the bad guys , u got such a better deal I should have watched this video first

While I do recommend the originals more than these ones, the originals are much more expensive and they go for like $40 in decent condition the turtles alone cost me $160! It’s crazy so if you can’t afford the old ones or don’t want to spend that much on these figures I’d say this is a decent alternative

i Will always like TURTLES

This is a hard one. I loved my old turtles and never got the movie star set. Now there is issues if you can side by side them yes, but if you don’t have the vintage and are like me on a budget (way too much coming out for me to buy) the price point is great! 7 bucks each in a world of 15 dollar figures? I’m going to grab it because it’s a steal. If it was faithful to the og ones at 100 bucks, I’d said that’s cool. But not for me. Had to choose between the new ecto and the transformer ecto because I couldn’t tell my wife I spent over a hundred bucks on toys with out risking bodily injury! Lol

I agree 100% the turtles aren't that bad could be worse! Leo and Don are the better of the 4 core turtles Raph especially being my favorite is off but I still got this set due to childhood good memories for my TMNT collection. Shredder is the best one! Splinter WORST lol. They should've even did Tokka and Rahzar instead of Splinter or Shredder but I like Shredder so yeah Foot Soldier would've been a good replacement for that horrible Splinter

Holy cow did they botch this. You are spot on that these look like cheep KO's, even the "good" ones. Shredder is great, but I can't justify buying the whole set just to get that one decent figure. I don't know if this is a byproduct of an incompetent design team or a money grab from an executive team looking to take another dip in the pockets of nostalgic adults, but either way I'll probably be investing my money with some other company producing Turtles. Now where did I hide my wife's hairdryer...

I never had the OG movie turtles (and never wanted them, fairly ugly zit fest) but do have the no price ebay knock offs which are hilarious. My Donnie arrived pre-decapitated. They have this set on sale locally in Perth so think I will pick it up for the Super Shred and Splinter, as its currently half price here. Thanks for review and comparison.

Playmates should be doing what Mattel are currently putting out with their MOTU origins line! I guess these are ok for exclusives in limited numbers, take it or leave it kinda things, but there's no excuse for such lazy choices! Even the recent bootleg movie star turtles that have popped up over the last several years included some of the original weapons and even used the original movie star splinter sculpt! It's maddening how much potential there could be for great new product based on thoes original figures! Playmates: sort it out! 😂

They should do a MOTU Origins style with the vintage figures. Just adding more articulation to the vintage sculpts.

They should’ve put more effort while also modernizing them in a way that was accurate to differentiate from the originals besides the near bootleg looking quality. Give them their brown elbow pads and wrist tape. Splinter is atrocious. I’m returning my set

I agree that as a collectors item, they’re not great. As someone with kids under 6, these are a great inexpensive option for toys that are being played with instead of the non-branded items

I had the originals, and THESE ARE AN INSULT! What was Playmates thinking? They aren't getting ANY of my money for this one! My Movie Turtles and by extension my original movie Splinter were among my favorites from the line, and this re-release falls thousands of yards short of the mark!!

im sorry totally disagree with this review, besides the splinter which is BAAAAAAAD. They made the colors to match the 88 figures and 2003 ones. The colors are spot on

I'll be able to live with the brighter colored turtles but that splinter is just pure laziness couldn't even give us that flocked version.Yes Playmates I'll buy these retros over any new figures you got because nothings better than the originals.

Man they really butchered that splinter. And they didn’t even come with the original weapons that’s crazy. The colors were just bonkers. Not all the figures were included either. And if they didn’t want to use the splinter with the fuzz on him. The movie star version from the third movie was basically the same splinter except his hair was molded on him and looked much better. I can’t believe they released this.

I just repainted my Michelangelo because it was so off. But I like them as like a DIY figure😂

Playmates Turtles really aren't worth buying now. They just don't seem to want to put the effort in anymore. Even in the early 2000s they made some great toys for the 2003 series. But they seemed to gradually stop bothering during the 2013 series run. It's frustrating that they still block mass retail release Turtle toys from other companies like NECA and Super7 who produce far better quality TMNT toys.

It's sad that Playmates did this to the fans, glad I didn't buy them.
