Hi Brendon, Love your channel. Pretty Rough were an Edmonton, Alberta CANADA based band releasing two albums. Pretty Rough (1982) and Got the Fire (1984).

Congratulations, Brendon on discovering Talisman. I recently stumbled upon them while scrolling through You Tube videos. It was a live performance of “Mysterious”. I immediately ordered the “Genesis” album from Amazon. My copy is a 2003 remaster and includes the original LP artwork and an entire second cd of bonus tracks. Excellent video. PS I have to check out that Richrath cd now!

I like the style of the Rock Candy cd's. The way they're presenting it makes you want to discover the music ! My music finds this week : the four first albums of the norwegian band Conception : I had never heard anything about them before. The cover of the album "Parallel Minds" caught my eye. And it's catchy power/progressive metal from the early nineties.

Pretty Rough are Canadian as you thought. They have two very good albums and you’re correct, they’ve never been released on cd. Hopefully they will be at some stage.

Tommy Bolin was a great guitar player , a lot of people think he was better Ritchie Blackmore in his prime , i have few or his albums. Your pick its very good this week .

Bolin could have been consistently listed as one of the greats, he certainly has many admirers, but will always wonder what he would have accomplished if not for early death. Bolin was so tasty and very unique, his playing puts him in that rarified air category! Tragic demise.

Strider have one track on the 'Reading Festival 1973' lp along with The Faces,Rory Gallagher,Status Quo,Greenslade and others. I picked up a bargain bin copy probably in the early '80s. I remember them being around and getting press in the early 70s but they never really got far. Need to pick up these cds.

Sadly Marcel Jacob from Talisman passed away some years ago. The band were brilliant and he was a phenomenal musician but he battled with personal and health issues which he was unable to overcome. Tragically, at the age of 45 Marcel took his own life.

Great show, Brendon! I picked up Pretty Rough on cassette when it came out and wasn't initially impressed at first. But it's really good and has somehow stuck with me to this day. It's their second album, as there was also a self-titled debut that got no U.S. distribution, which I still have on a watch list. You've increased my curiosity of the Ratt Rarities and Strider reissues. I just may give them a shot.

Greg X Volz was offered the lead singer position in REO Speedwagon back in 1976 but he turned them down because he wasn't keen on their rock & roll lifestyle choices, and they brought back Kevin Cronin instead. An interesting Sliding Doors moment.

Strider was a great band, there are a zillion semi-progish great bands from this mid to late 70s era... Strapps, Spontaneous Combustion, American Tears, Stories, Blackfoot Sue, Boxer, Crack the Sky, Dirty Tricks, Stray, Stray Dog, Hustler, Nutz, Tea, Tiger, Streets, Strife, Rose, Roadmaster, Savage Grace, Stepson, Sensational Alex Harvy Band and tons more, these were from the top of my head.

WOW, Brendon, that is so weird to get this info 36 years later! I was at the *Monsters of Rock Festival 1987 in Nürnberg* (or Nuremburg as you Americans rename the city on tour shirts...) feat. RATT and actually saw them recording the show backstage; I did an interview with Stephen Pearcy that day and now you tell me there are songs from that show on a record after all this time?! Checking the credits on discogs it says only on ONE song *Body Talk (Live In Germany 1987)* so I guess its just that one?

Watch the next episode and you’ll see the full show. I found it as a bootleg and got it last night. The whole album is excellent and well worth it. I bought it on eBay but it was the last one. The guy selling it said he is trying to get more but doesn’t have any currently.

Both Moxy albums you mentioned are currently making my car speakers sweat! Nice, clean, hard rock sound with unusually melodic vocals - diggin' them! And I keep having flashbacks with seeing Rush and having Moxy opening for them, I'm not positive, but listening to Moxy debut makes me think I saw them with Rush. I remember being impressed with Rush's opener and it could have been them!

Do you have the Soul Sirius album World Play? Schon, Soto, Virgil Donati, Marco Mendoza…very underrated. There are 2 versions; original cd and the re release with 7 bonus tracks and dvd

Yes I have both versions. I bought the initial website only release that later for a worldwide release. But I prefer the original release. I was actually listening to the album this past weekend as I typically breakout related album when I’m into a particular artist. Still favorite to listen to when I’m jonesing for more Journey and wondering what Jeff Scott Soto would have sounded like recording an album as Journey’s frontman.
