These "styles" are really just people hoping crappy design catches on so they can get away with doing it at home with low-skill. Just like how "duck nails" came into fashion because under-skilled nail techs were doing wide, awkward finishes to their nails.... this is just someone that applies too much product. It's like when "dark roots" came into fashion with the harsh, harsh line of deviation, because underskilled hair stylists were offering this for cheap and it was something people could just slap on at home themselves. It doesn't look good! You'll never convince the average person this looks good lol

It’s one of those styles that either you love or hate and depends on the trend🎉. I use to love nails with a hump and despised extra thin flat nails. However, now i love a slight hump because i still loathe flat nails. A real nail tech and hairstylist is diverse and knows how to adjust to trends and clients needs.

@@lucrezia909 they don’t mean the genetic duck nails they’re talking about the duck nail STYLE that was super trendy in the 2000s. I heard it originated from strippers bc they had to pick up coins and dollars easier

As a nail tech that takes great pride in never saying no to a new or non traditional shape or design I can safely say this is a HARD NO for me. You said it perfectly, it lacks ANY sophistication. There is no way to make those nails look remotely elegant which I believe should be the underlying common look achieved through nail shapes. Even duck nails, if done properly and not over done, can look elegant. It looks like the nail tech was building all apex for an 8”+ long nail and then the client said ‘nah I wanted them SHORT’ so the technician chopped them off and just painted them. I am all for trying new things! Nails are absolutely art. Art will never stop teaching you new things and will never stop pushing the limits of what is possible…. This should have been one of those things where the first person tried it and said ‘ok well that’s a fail’ LOL 😂
