They just don’t want to waste time waiting for people to get in shape during basic training. It wasn’t needed in the past but since 70% of the recruiting pool is now out of shape it’s necessary
@nicholasstults38566 жыл бұрын
Mike Lindner it makes me wonder what percentage of, The United States population, is out of shape. I know I'm about 12 lbs over the limit for my height to weight ratio... Which is a reason why I haven't already signed a contract yet.
@mikelindner26466 жыл бұрын
nicholas stults You should be alright, there’s nothing wrong with being a little out of their standards, I just think this new test is just so you get there on your own time instead of during boot camp when they want to be training on other things

It is a good thing that the Navy is making a standard on what they will/will not allow to boot. My opinions: the standard is pretty much nothing. The standard to go to boot should either be the bare minimum or SLIGHTLY less than the bare minimum

honestly, it almost seems like the navy is becoming more like the marine corps in certain areas, like a pre running test, and extending it to 13 weeks. the 13 week part i heard from another video. btw, i was in the navy in 2001 and the run was only a mile and you had to do a certain amount of sit ups and push ups in like 2 minutes.

@@stacyskinner3643 taking my last semester to earn my A.A in business. Which I am paying out of pocket. But with with a 4 year degree in basic gives you an E-4. Someone like me I will have an E-2 or E-3. Which puts you at a higher pay ranking. Others with no degree or even some college credit start at E-1.

You need to be able to run well in bootcamp. If you fail the final PFA which is your first OFFICIAL Navy PFA you will get sent 4 weeks to the rear in boot camp! No joke. You will get a chance for a double tap but if you fail that then good fucking luck
@cnblito6 жыл бұрын
JT Haugk-Lemire you only get sent back 4 weeks if you fail the run by 30 seconds or more. Somehow everyone manages to pass sit-ups and push-ups lol

militaryaddict1234 I was in the same boat. I could not do ONE push-up as of two days ago. I tried a knee push-up and could barely get one and not in proper form. Sit-ups were going well but the push-up practice was upsetting me because I didn’t know how to practice if I couldn’t even do one! I googled modifications and it reminded me of some middle school workouts I used to do lol. Basically on the wall or in an all four position. I did my first proper form push-up on my knees today and a horrible form full push-up. That’s after only two days of doing about 50 all four pushups. People might make fun of me for admitting all this but I hope it can help you and anyone else struggling with push-ups :) I am currently hoping to join January 2019 and am getting in mental and physical shape now. It’s hard while working full time but it’s doable!
