Recently I did a deep dive into the Nickelodeon spin-off channel, Nickelodeon GAS, or Nickelodeon Games and Sports. In that video, we talked about a few shows and events that are just lost to time, but were following a tiny breadcrumb trail towards one of them specifically. Thanks to this, someone who goes by the name DoTheWhatNow watched the video and reached out and they were able to supply us with an old VHS recording of one of the lost programs. Today, we are finally going to look at the Maximum Rocket Power Games event.

Lost episodes for old cartoonetwork shows

Now that the Figment animated episodes have all been found, there’s only one specific thing I’d love to see found. Or, a bunch of pieces of something I guess? I was so into Cartoon Orbit back in the day. I was very active on the website as well as the online forum communities. But at this point, there’s next to nothing out there about it. There are some screenshots of people’s czones, a good amount of the gtoons game, and a few more random screenshots and videos here and there. But if someone out there has a massive archive of footage, I’d love to see it. Especially from the early days, as the little amount we do have is from the later year(s). So much from that game is lost to time and it was such a big part of my life growing up from elementary through high school. It’s a shame it’s all gone.

I think it would be fantastic to have an accurate archived simulation of former live broadcasts in as close to their entirety as possible. Would be neat to type in a date and get the TV for that day.

Being an X Games fan for about 15 years and an avid watcher of Rocket Power when I was a kid, seeing legit legends like TJ Lavin and Andy McDonald involved in this special is pretty crazy. If only the XGames could do something like this today. Most of the top Women skaters this year at the X Games were between 13-17 anyway so many of them are still kids themselves!

Holy SHIT this just unlocked a window of 2-3 years of my memory. I have really bad memory issues before I turned 18 due to meds I was taking at the time, sometimes I see old media and it unlocks little chunks of memory. I remember watching the movie and competition clear as day, my little brother and I got into skating because of Rocket Power, we were so hyped for the movie, then seeing real people try to do the same challenges blew our minds. Nick really had something special back in the day, it's a shame they fell so far from that grace.

Interesting to look these old pros up and find a lot of them still doing something with what they love in one way or another. Andy MacDonald which I admit was the only name I recognized off hand, hopes to compete in the Paris Games at age 50. BMX racing is always something I wish I could have done. I vividly remember watching this and actually recording it because of how into X games I was back then. Crazy to think how these things that seemed like such a big deal for us back then would be labeled as "lost media" within just a few short years of premiering. I still remember being so hyped all day at school to watch the movie later on that night and see all the things that those people would do on their boards, bikes, etc. And once it was all over, i rewinded the tape and stayed up until 3 am watching it over and over again. Something about seeing lost media popping back up fills me with so much joy when i remember all those good times back then, until i feel sad thinking how life was so good for some of us when we experienced these things for the first time and now there isn't really much that we all look forward to as adults, like we did as kids knowing Disney channel, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon would have several new episodes of our favorite shows every Friday night and sometimes a new movie or one that we haven't seen in months. Thank you Jordan and everyone else who brings these pieces of lost media back to the light💚

I never thought I'd be all that into lost media (it's lost so what's there to be excited about?), but ever since finding the channel Scribbles to Screen, I have been genuinely excited every time a piece of lost media is found. I'm happy for you that you were able to release this lost footage to the world, as it must be a very exciting thing to do. I WANTED to say that I have never seen this before, but that zorb bit struck some memory chords that tells me I MUST have seen at least bits and pieces of this special. May we all be able to go zorbing someday. It seems like it'd be so much fun!

@OlyChickenGuy 10 ай бұрын
@@the-NightStar Did you read the rest of my comment? But to clarify: Before finding Scribbles to Screen I thought "lost media" meant it was absolutely, without question LOST- like Greek texts lost to the time in the destruction of Alexandria or something. Sure, it'd be interesting to speculate what they could've held, but they're GONE. I had no idea that an entire community of people existed out there who were dedicated to dredging up dusty, old VHSs, cassette tapes, or the like that held tidbits of media that have otherwise gone missing in the main stream. I had no idea that the VHS recording of Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer that my parents had made was of the original broadcast, and how lucky I was to be familiar with that version of it- I had no idea multiple versions of the movie existed. I didn't know about the MGM fire and how much was destroyed in it. I didn't know that at the beginning of big screen film showings, no one had considered the value of re-releases and that those films were often thrown away as soon as the premier showing was over. I didn't know that the BBC had a policy of disposing of reels when shows hadn't been rebroadcast in a certain amount of time. I was completely oblivious to the idea that at one point in time, it was simply common practise to throw away films, songs, books, etc. that had lost popularity in the public eye, and just kind of took it for granted that if it were recorded, it MUST have been kept SOMEWHERE for history's sake, and if lost, it must have been lost for good. I've since come to realise how ignorant I was, and I've come to understand that the world of lost media is a lively and fascinating world to delve into. I'm still very much a novice in this world, but my eyes have certainly been opened to just how fascinating it is, how exciting it is when something presumed lost resurfaces, and how easy it is to brush off the value of those that hunt down these gems. I certainly do not mean to dismiss lost media, I just mean to express that at one point I thought the idea of lost media was little more than pointing out that something no longer exists. I had no idea that people were actually having success in recovering these things, and now that I DO know this, I've come around to understanding how hard these people work for the sake of preservation of media, which is a wonderful and valuable thing to do.

I Think we need more of these sports day kind of shows on TV these days. Wipeout just doesn't cut it, and there's not much emphasis on the kids. It's really cool to me that kids are given the opportunity to show their skills at sports beyond their own schools.

I tried skateboarding when I was a kid. I was never good at it. My older brother loved skateboarding when we were kids. He was fairly good at it. As for Rocket Power that was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. It still is one of my favorites as an adult. I have always wanted to lean how to surf. I hope to learn sometime.
