@@WesternSignalman I would suggest getting a small digital spirit level for when you start the inclines as you can’t display degrees or percentage.

Love dads army on my OO9 layout the locos are named after the characters

Sound is good, although I restrict to one type of each sound loco so things don’t get too loud

I’ve tried anyrail in the past, but no longer have windows, I do have a program on my Mac but I’ve just never got on with these programs

@@WesternSignalman True, I couldn't get on with Anyrail either but I found Scarm ok. Not for detail planning just to see what radius curves would work and points etc. Your layout looks very promising, it definitely has all the right ingredients!

@jonson481 I could probably do with having a go especially for the inclines, at the moment I’ve been using string to work the length of a run out and calculating the incline with that

@@WesternSignalman Scarm isn't too bad for working out inclines. It calculates the gradients you create and hilights in red when you've attempted something silly! Like all layout software it definitely has its limitations but a few hours spent on it can prove useful.

Me too maybe if Hornby can get a few more promised locos out in the next year and get the hype going again with the April announcements things might improve.

Thanks very much. It’s a shame about TT but you’re right I compared it to the boys n gauge stuff and there wasn’t much in it. The OO9 is currently stored under the layout on its side, it needs some legs but I should be able to put it up in the middle of the room. However I may do a mark 2 as the river has started to crack and the track in the fiddle yard was robbed for the n gauge layout.

Isn’t it time to stop this infantile behaviour towards one particular scale? It’s not doing the hobby any favours. Heljan never had a loco available in TT:120, it was 10 mins on a laptop knocking up a visual to trawl the market. Meanwhile Hornby spent several years getting a range together that is at last internationally compatible. Whatever scale anyone wants to model is absolutely fine. It’s this negative claptrap that drives people away, stop it!

@@WesternSignalman oh so a new OO9 layout? Also what happened to the river, I was planning on putting water on my layout, and have some E-Z water which I was planning to use, as I believe that was what you used. Was the easy water the problem?

@@HighFell I’m not hating on TT, and I have nothing against people who model TT. I love to see a new scale, but Hornby went about the scale the wrong way, you can’t just rely on one manufacturer for a scale, and if Hornby hadn’t have just announced stuff because Heljan did (which I think is true, as the only TT locos Hornby have not realized yet are the Princess as well as the ones Heljan announced before Hornby that Hornby also announced) then that would be another manufacturer, and then maybe the scale could get off? Also if Hornby had done a larger version of TT and not TT120, then the TT locos would be the size in between OO and N. That’s just my opinion of course, and hopefully now that Hornby are stocking TT at retailers, rather than making it website exclusive more people will get into it due to seeing it in person in a model shop, rather than just on a computer screen.

@ModelRailwayFan38 the e-z water has started to crack, they are in the river at bottom but are starting to become noticeable so I have two choices Take the river out and put a new one in, repair the fiddle yard and sort out the point work on the scenic Side of the layout which I’ve never been happy with Alternatively I start again with mark 2 But we shall see…
