my favourite thing about new order is how they sound perfectly cold and industrial whilst simultaneously having one of the most vibrant beating human hearts deep in the sound. so cold yet so warm

Man all the Peel Sessions for different bands are so amazing to listen to. It's like all these great artists actually tried to play their best and also experiment around with their sound and b-sides.

Imagine if Hooky was there permanent lead singer. No disrespect to Bernard it was obviously a democratic decision but this track still kicks arse 40 years later.
@fuckamericanidiot3 жыл бұрын
He can hold a note better than Bernard but it's mostly the same note - in this song there are 3 notes

Best decision for a bass and drums sound base. New Order sound changed and Bernard was the better choice.
@smokeyanthony Жыл бұрын
He had the ability to sound like Ian, the most, I reckon.

They should've used Hooky vocals on more songs, but going with Bernard as the main singer was the better way to distinguish their sound from Joy Division.

This masterpiece was recorded 18 years before I was born, but it still feels so ahead of it's time. It just doesn't compare to any music created at any time!

I don't know if is it just me but why this song remind me so much of Cure´s "In Between Days" ????
@TheNateFisherSpace6 жыл бұрын
Actually Robert Smith had said that when he listened this song, he liked so much the guitar riff so he decided to "borrow" it and with that he created In Between Days.
@odw_995 жыл бұрын
The verse section is the same A to D chord progression as Inbetween Days- two great songs and completely different despite their similarities IMO

Gillian joined in October of 1980, so she should be on this.

Absolutely right. She had her own band I believe and recorded in the same studio as Joy Division which is how they met. Her contribution on Movement is contentious but may just be vocals on Doubts Even Here. News to me I must say. For me the subsequent albums, Power Corruption and Lies, Low Life etc ate where her contribution to the sound of NO are most influential. I personally believe that she was the defining moment when JD transitioned into NO. Just my opinion. Wish I was back in the eighties so I realized how good it was to see them live. What a fool.

It's almost impossible to relate how enigmatic New Order were at this time. Pretty soon they were no interviews, until about '83 when Gillian gave one to Smash Hits, of all people.
