Disneyland is often layered with details, let's discover the fascinating history behind the building facade for one of the most popular attractions of all time.
CURRENT Channel (2021 and beyond! ) : / justinscarred
MERCH!: store.randomland.com
Millions of people have passed through the Facade for Pirates of the Caribbean without more than a second glance at its amazing design. But even those few who do spend a little longer absorbing the interesting architecture may not realize that it was inspired by a real life building, and moreover, that Pirates' building's real-life counterpart is intimately connected with one of the most important and historic events in our country's history, the Louisiana Purchase.
Overlooking the rivers of America, the Disneyland Dream Suite located above Pirates of the Caribbean's entrance may be inaccessible to the general public, but it does feature a wonderful "secret" nod to the original purpose of the dream suite as a planned-but-abandoned Disney Family getaway.

This I really like. This being my family history and all. This would have to be my favorite part of DL. I've seen a lot of video of New Orleans Square and its something I got to see for my self one day. Having Haunted Mansion and Pirates (favorite rides) and Blue Bayou themed restaurant just adds to it. "That there's a good-dun!!!"

This was so interesting! I was just there on Friday (2/21/14) and didn't make it to pirates this time. But I did stop in New Orleans Square for a mint julep. Also, I believe I went up to the suite/studio above the pirates ride several years ago. As I recall, there was an art show up there. Now, I feel lucky to have been up there. Great video! Thanks again!

Haven't stayed in that one but I have stayed in the Dream Suite in Cinderella Castle. Thought you might like to know there is what looks like a small "urn" on the fake fireplace mantle in the suite. Our guide who showed us into the room said a workman called it "Walt". He said a couple of small things happened to the workman that couldn't be explained. He figured since the space was suppose to be Walt's apartment it was Walt's ghost. For some reason he attached that to the urn and when he would leave the space after working on it he would always say "Goodnight Walt" to the urn. Anything else you'd like to know about that suite please ask away.

Whoa that is awesome, I've never heard that before! Did you get a lot of photos of it? I haven't seen much about it
@mysteriousyoungman
@mysteriousyoungman 10 жыл бұрын
LiveFastDiePoor It was pretty awesome. I'm attaching a link to a photo of the fireplace. There are two larger things that look like urns on each side. Look at the one on the right and next to it you'll see a smaller vessel. The smaller vessel was the one the worker would say "Goodnight Walt" when he left. Another little fun fact about the suite is that in the fireplace there is an LED fireworks light show, no need for a real fire or fireplace in Orlando. Some of the "fireworks" form a hidden Mickey which our guide was nice enough to show us. Oh, and the writing desk in the suite was bought in Europe and is over 150 years old. Here's the link to the picture. 0.tqn.com/d/hotels/1/7/A/1/2/fireplace.jpg

+KimSuecutie I don't think it has any time period per se but to be incorporated with Pirates of the Caribbean, I'd say around that time era. Not too sure which years exactly. 1700-1800's possibly but can also relate to modern times.

Justin you always out do yourself with each new Disneyland video that you make! Not only do we get to see Disneyland, but you also add in some amazing historical facts on how each land or attraction was made! I learned something new from you about how the building & facade of Pirates of the Caribbean was modeled somewhat after The Cabildo Building in New Orleans. Walt always loved to educate his audience, and you are doing a fine job explaining his Original Magic Kingdom!
