NEW Paper Mate InkJoy Bright Gel Pens (Gelly Roll Moonlight Competitor?)

I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for the new Paper Mate Inkjoy Bright gel pens. They supposedly work on both light and dark paper with a pop of color. This sounds to me like they are trying to compete with the Gelly Roll Moonlight pens-my current favorite for coloring on black paper. So I bought both the new Bright set, as well as a full set of the original InkJoy pens (which I really like for writing and doodling, but not necessarily for coloring.) Let’s see if these InkJoy Bright pens can change my mind!

As a teacher, I like the .7 nib and the varied colors for making comments on essays/ writing assignments. I use different colors for different categories of comments. But for coloring, I like a broader nib. Thanks for the review.

Its nice to have a cheaper option for darker paper for inking. As for the transparency, some times you want that effect.

For white, I’ve also tried the Doctor Martin’s no bleed white and a tiny, tiny paint brush.

Thanks so much for enlightening me on the differing responses and outcomes when using these pens! A very kindly meant comment from me is that for me, the constant repetitiveness of the music in this video creates anxiety and tension when I’m watching. 💝

I bought some of the moonlights, but haven't used them on black, I just wanted another set of milky colors. I plan to use them to do colored doodles on my black posti-it notes sitting at the doctors office.

Hello Jennifer and Steve thanks for the video and compare gels pens. Love your videos and Rose is so cute. I have the Pentel sparkle pop. Also have the sakura tiara gel pens 12; Sakura ball sign 12 and the sakura belly roll metallic 12 and I love them. They are ones of my favorites.

I wouldn't call the feel latex, as a lot of people have allergies which would preclude them from being able to hold the pen. Nice to see the side by side comparison to other brands. Have been wondering about these since the CHA conference.

Just found your videos and they are so helpful. Only just started colouring. Found some channels overwelming but yours are just what i wanted . Keep up the good work. Love the little dog. The only thing is i cant seem to find the A AND E sets on Amazon. Think i have the name wrong so hope you know which ones i mean. Thank you. x

Ooh an olive green inkjoy. Are they water resistant? The moonlights are water resistant I think, which I like.

I made the mistake of buying multiple pentel milky pens & by the time i got to the second pack they didnt work. I have a quick way to revive them. I take 99% isopropyl & fill a watercolor paint brush(the kind you can fill lol) i remove the metal nib, stick the bristles in the nib give a small squeeze&swirl. Ill even stick it in the ink part also if the ink seems thick when i have the nib off. 99% evaps so quickly it doesnt mess with the ink color. But who wants to pay good money for pens & have to do this right. Maybe for pens you still have just to use them up. Hope that can help you out.

I just bought some Aen markers and was a little miffed that they didn't give a color name on the barrel. It was only 36 pens, but I wish they would have put the color on them.

I have a big pack of papermate ink joy pack. I absolutely love them in my sketchbooks. Great for doodling and added a bit of color. I forgot to add mine are a .7 size.

Hi Jennifer, I would like to see what happens when the inks are exposed to water. I do a lot of mixed media work and knowing what inks are water-soluble and which are water-proof is very valuable information. It only takes a few seconds to run a damp brush across the lines. Thanks! Bonnie

The Gel Pens, I use mostly to draw and doodle. I will look for the Moonlights, I do like to try new product if I can! Nothing I have found beats the Signo Broad, as far as a white pen is concerned. And sometimes that one even gets finicky. I have had no luck with the gelly roll white. If there is something better, please share.

I am Uni ball all the way. Their metallic set is amazing. I will definitely know to stay away from the Inkjoy since I have a latex allergy. Strange that the entire body is covered in it.

I had a set of these pens they are fine for writing but not for coloring or high lighting I would not buy them again.They came in a kit with felt tip markers I did like the felt tip markers I don't know if they still make the felt tip makers I would buy them again I had a very small set and used them I up

I love a bold pen also. The gelly roll grays are now in 1.0 and theres a new company that has white gel pens. They have a 5 pen set. With a .5 up to a 1.2!!! Im going to give them a try. I never heard of a 1.2 so hopefully they are good.

Just a question about the Aen gel pen set for the giveaway…I purchased Tanmit glitter gel pens, and they are the same exact setup…case, refills, swatch card, and a few coloring pages (picture on each side). The only difference from what I can tell is the name on the case. Are Tanmit and Aen the same pens just under different names?
