I always use either the twsbi go or the twsbi swipe with the spring cartridge with shimmer inks, usually with either B or stub nibs. It's always a pleasant experience and the spring makes it so easy to clean the shimmer out! I hope enjoy it! Ah, also, the twsbi go is my favorite for when my tendinitis is acting up. Since it's thicker, it's easier on my wrist.

That's a helpful comment! I didn't think about this aspect at all. I would also assume that the section feels softer than other sections.

I just got one, hoping it, as the same reason as you with tendinitis would be an an easy pen for my hand, but mine works poorly I have to press so hard to make it draw. I wanted it for sketching. I'm so confused and sad about it

I'm a new fountain pen enthusiast, and have the TWSBI GO to thank for it. I bought it on a whim just because I thought it looked cool and the price was affordable. This was when my partner was making an order for a Diamond Mini anyway so I figured I'd see what the whole fuss was about with fountain pens. I fell in love instantly. I never leave the house without it now and am constantly using it for all my writing. Iv also gone down the rabbit hole and ordered myself some other entry level pens as well and ofc some inks. I had no idea fountain pens would make me so happy. The GO will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

I have two Gos - it's nice to have pens you aren't worried about. They write well and are fun to use - though mine did do that little random spurt of ink that yours did too. I'm going to use one for my new bottle of Pennonia Draculea - I have no idea what those pigment particles are going to do to a pen. Also, off topic, but your ink-stained cloth is actually so beautiful! 😄

I love my Go! You have inspired me to ink it with a shimmer for the first time in a long while. I’m also surprised that the Go and Eco are the same weight without the caps on, I expected the same as you, for the Eco to be heavier. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on the pen and ink as time passes. Thanks so much for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

I'm considering getting another Go in broad. I suspect my Eco broad has bottom problems. LOL. It's a bit peachy - or at least that's what I think. I have to ink it up again and see if it was the ink or the nib.

I have a stub Go. I have not used it in a while. It is my go-to for shimmer and sheen, but I've gone off those for now. I was considering inking it up and using it for titles in my journal, but can't decide what to put in it.
@seemownay
@seemownay Жыл бұрын
Yes, I used to use stub nibs for titles in high school. Back then it was just black ink but now I'd put a stunningly bright shimmer. Or so.

TWSBI stubs are stellar. Another suggestion for trying with your shimmers is Vanness’ White Lightening. I believe it’s marketed to shimmer ink users as a way to help with flow issues. A HUGE bottle of it is like $5 or $6 and it’ll last you forever. A friend gave me a sample a while back and I have had great success using it with my drier inks.

I have two of the clear Pilot Kakuno pens which are similar to this one, both have extra fine nibs and I have kept one set up with cartridges and I bought a converter for my bottled inks for the other one. I love them for both drawing and writing. I think I would find the spring mechanism of the TWSBI a bit uncomfortable to use, as I have issues with the tendons in my hands, especially on my right index finger and thumbs.
@seemownay
@seemownay Жыл бұрын
I have both now. I find the Pilot nib to be a bit softer.

@@seemownay Good to know, I draw as well as write with my fountain pens, so that softer nib is more of an advantage, as you get a little more line variation.

I have 2 - one with a medium nib and one with a broad nib. I got the medium when they first came out and it dries up on me all the time, so I robbed the nib for an ECO and don‘t use the GO anymore. The broad one is much better - I just got it recently and it hasn‘t dried up so far… I want to try a shimmer ink in it at some point, but I don‘t find myself gravitating to shimmer inks much so it would probably also dry up again eventually. But the ink in there right now is a great shader and the writing looks really nice with the broad nib. :)

I wonder why it's such a different experience with the same pen. I had the "dried up on me" experience with my Pilot Kakuno's that I have previously owned. I was gifted one recently so I'll see how that works out.

Oh, forgot the shimmer inks thing: I'm not extremely drawn to them either but when they work well, I do enjoy them. Currently, I'm just obsessed with finding which of my pens work well with the shimmer inks and which don't.

I love my TWSBI Go for shimmer inks, at least in the B nib. Thus far I'm not loving the finer nib sizes for shimmers... but in fairness I don't love finer nib sizes for anything. 🤣 I like how the section of the Go feels sort of like it's more squishy. Like the plastic is less hard. I do agree that the Go feels cheap, but then, it IS cheaper. I also think it's kind of funny how the three different main parts of the pen seem to be made with three different types of plastic. 😄
@seemownay
@seemownay Жыл бұрын
I think I worded that "cheap" wrong, it feels like the plastic is thinner and thus more prone to cracking. Which then would imply they were able to produce it cheaper. I love that the section is a different material because I hope that this would allow me to pull the nib and feed without being afraid of cracking the section.
@MariaRosseau
@MariaRosseau Жыл бұрын
@@seemownay I think you said "cheap" correctly. It feels like it's lower quality, in a general sense. The plastic feels more brittle, except for the section. :)

My favorite pen to carry in a pencil pouch is my twisbi go. If something happens to it I'm OK. I don't treat it as precious and use it everyday as it's so easy to fill.
@seemownay

Yes, 100% yes to this! I'm not precious with any of my pens but I can get behind the Go as a perfect pen that you don't have to be too careful with.

@seemownay

I think MsMarilynDarling recommended Fountain Pen Revolution pens with flex nibs and ebonite feeds. I don't really want to go down that route, but I'm trying shimmers in pens, that I can clean easily and this month it's working really well.

I avoid "gimmick" inks. I have had glitter inks plug the feeds of two pens. I got the ones I tried from free samples, without realizing what they were. I have never used shimmer inks; they don't appeal to me at all.

I'm always very intrigued by shimmer inks and love to explore. Since this pen is so easy to disassemble I have no problem using inks that might be troublesome. But this ink was not that at all. It was surprisingly well behaved and absolutely stunning!
