NEW PET FISHES - BLACK MOOR & ORANDA GOLDFISH TANK SETUP! [SPONGEBOB THEME]

Hello everyone, today, I have a very special video on my new fishes! I will be starting a new journey on this channel, which will be focused equally between animal healthcare (fish videos) and technology.
I purchased two fishes today, one small black moor goldfish and one small oranda goldfish from PetsAtHome in the UK, London. This is a link to their website (www.petsathome.com/).
The tank which I am currently using is the Tetra 244900 AquaArt LED Complete Aquarium Set, 60 L, White, it has an amazing white to blue light functionality so you can switch your tank to white light in the daytime and blue light at night! Little tip, a lot of people recommend sand type substrate rather than gravel because goldfish tend to get gravel stuck in their mouth, rather than sand, they sift through the sand for food, etc... 😊

No trust me gravel works great because when its in their mouth they spit it out and keep searching for food but they can get sand in their mouth and potentially swallow the little grains of sand. So I recommend gravel as long as its medium sized pieces of gravel so they can easily spit it out! :)

Love your aquarium it is beautiful! I have a goldfish and he is in a 20 gallon tank alone! Make sure that if your keeping goldfish that they have at least 20 gallons per fish and then add 10 gallons per other goldfish you add to the tank so 2 goldfish would need at least 30 gallons! Im not trying to hate just giving you some advice. Please give these fish proper home. By the way these fish are beautiful enjoy!

Lucas Pedroso I agree but maybe not that much as they can survive together happily is something under but eat Lear’s 20-30 gallons I would say for goldfish if they are small ones! I am hopefully getting some soon as my fish passed away recently rip.but yeah I’m exited.

@@laylacooze-burgess941 You need at least 20g to start off with one, adding 10g per new fish. Your information is wrong, they may look happy, but they aren't. They can stop growing whenever they want to stop, but their organs will not stop, and therefore, they will die. They try to hide their pain as much as they can.

There not supposed to be in tanks at all there's no difference between keeping them in a 6 gallon tank and a 40 there supposed to be in a 100000 gallon lake

I know this video was kinda posted a while ago but please be careful with your tank decorations around the blackmoor! They have very delicate eyes and poor eyesight in general, so they run the risk of bumping into decorations and could seriously damage their eyes on sharp or scratchy decorations :/ in my blackmoor tank we just have some smooth stones and live plants for decoration, and he loves it!

I have a black moor and all it does is sit at the bottom of the tank sometimes eating the rocks. But hes all hyper once he's fed. Any ideas why?

Kaitlyn Redetzke well, goldfish are a type of carp. They are Constantly looking for food, that's why they are so active. About how many times a day do you food him/her? If less than 2, that could be why. They are natural scavengers so if they know that they get food only once at a specific time, the rest of the day they may do nothing. If you dont have time to feed at least 3 times a day, i highly recommend a timed feeder! The fish will most likely be constantly swimming around looking for food if they are fed a little every 2 or 3 hours. Also, have you ever hand fed? They really enjoy attention, or even just swimming through your hand and following it around the tank for a treat. If you dont already do this, i also recommend feeding veggies at least 3 times a week. Like peas(no skin) spinach, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini, bell peppers etc. And maybe once a month a fruit like a banana or watermelon. What type of food do you currently use? If it's flakes, that could explain why. Please only feed you goldfish sinking foods, as that could lead to bouency issues. And what size is your tank? If it's anything less than ten, please upgrade. I would recommend 20 gallons however.

@@evie5003 He turned out to be really sick. It wasnt anything that I did wrong. I fed him once a day. And did water changes every week. He died and I got another black moor. Hes doing really well. I have other fish too and they are all happy. Hes in a 10 gallon by himself but he has lots of room to swim. I feed him twice a day, he has pellets. I don't like flakes. I will try the vegetables and fruit along with the feeding by hand.

Loved the video but please don't empty the water from the bag into the tank. I'll try to explain simply as I'm not an expert myself but.. Fish poop more during the transporting process due to stress. The poop causes ammonia in the water which then goes in your tank. I tend to cut the bag open in a corner and scoop the fish with my hand. Simple and easy 😀 don't worry if you haven't done it my way, I'm sure we've all made the mistake of tipping the water in with the fish. The fish just has more chance of survival. Also I would recommend crumbled up gravel or sand instead of stones as the gunk from the food/poop will hide underneath the stones making it dirty which means more water changes. Thin layer of gravel or sand and the fish will do the rest for you! I have a 160 L tank with 2 black moors called Adamou and Leroy :) Hoped this helped😀x

Apparently, Black Moors turn gold as they age. They turn Gold usually around 5 - 10 years of age.

It’s done to acclimate the water in the fish bag to the temperature in your tank however, remove fish with net or cup & never put the bag water in your tank.

It was due to come on Saturday, came a few days earlier I was very excited until I see a small fish bowl the size of my pillow!! Instead, we’re buying a tank from pets at home that has the perfect amount of space.

Try feeding the omega pellet brand for goldfish. Trust me you'll get good results, they grow, and develop beautiful color. Flake food is just terrible :/

Please be careful with these fish in this size tank ... one Oranda should have 29 gallons which is way more than 60 liters which is equal to 15 gallons... my Oranda was in a ten gallon for a few months while I was saving for a new tank but the water became high in ammonia so two of those fish and that tiny tank is slowly killing them .... I’m heart broken I lost my fishy and I don’t want you to loose yours .... please get a larger tank if you haven’t :)

It’s so important to cycle the fish tank before bringing home new fish. Research this on KZfaq. Or at least use some seachem stability, follow instructions. Do weekly water/gravel cleaning - removing 25-30% of water.

Dont feed them flake. Fancy goldfish will get swim bladder issues.. feed them sinking pellets aka tetra gold japan.

We have 5 goldfish in a 55g...two are almost full grown a black moor and oranda, and even that is too small. We may upgrade the tank later.

Cloudy water is from bacterial bloom not the filter the filters collects debris from the water fish waste n food ect

My apologies, but this is an amusement Park not an aquarium. I've never seen a so disgusting and unnatural environment. It could belong to a ten years old boy. An adult would understand that fishes (whatever you choose) need specific biological and natural conditions that, in your tank, are very far from the real. Would you breed a sparrow in a shoes box?

It was long time ago (I am 62 now), when this hobby was still quite poor, both for tools and biological informations as well: although my tank (honestly, with too many fishes inside) was with gravel, live plants and filter inside. Any stupid plastic objects. Hope you will grow with this nice hobby: in the meantime, let me to suggest to learn more, read some books, have passion...
