I was honestly scared to watch this one based on the thumbnail but I took my last chance and was glad I did because it was wholesome. Still afraid of Pokémon fan animations though 😂

I hope it’s not so much a regional varient, but an exclusive variation, like how meowth’s galarian variant is perrserker, not a persian. Hopefully it’s the same for quagsire. But I’ll be happy regardless of the outcome.

It's confirmed to be a totally separate mon. Apparently based on this real life thing called "convergent evolution" where two unrelated species naturally evolve in very similar ways

@@abra_escaped Yeah, it’s the same reason Dolphins look vaguely like sharks: that’s just the most efficient shape for a large animal that wants to move through water fast without a whole lot of drag Regional variants are about the opposite phenomenon, when closely related animals have increasingly differing traits as time goes on due to differing needs. For example, basically all mammals have the same basic set up for their “hand bones”, but they arrange them very differently by altering things like the length and size of different bones in the hand, rather than just removing bones outright (for the most part, at least) Or, for an example more easily comparable to Pokémon’s regional variants, Chimps and Bonobos used to be the same species, but they were separated by a River at the time. On the Chimp side, there were Gorillas to compete with, while the Bonobos were alone. Because of this, the Chimp side apes had to become more and more ornery and aggressive to keep enough food for themselves when there wasn’t always enough to share, while the Bonobos had plenty of food, and it was far more important for a Bonobo to be well liked than to “have most banana”. So over time, we ended up with the incredibly angry Chimpanzees, and the incredibly chill Bonobos
