New Polymers-New Uses: Herman Mark
Chemist Herman Mark discusses the developing field of polymer science. Polymers are substances, both synthetic and organic, consisting of long, repeating chains of very large molecules. Mark played a pivotal role in the research used to understand polymers, and he founded the Institute of Polymer Research at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He also established the Journal of Polymer Science in 1948. In this lecture, he explores the field of polymer science and demonstrates some of the organic chemical reactions that are used to produce certain polymers.
Recorded Dec 30, 1980 at 92nd Street Y, New York.
