Thanks sir, Imade a new pond.After 2 weeks the water has turned green like pea soup. Imade a wetland filter also and started adding plants also. Just now i have only 10 fish and will add slowly as the pond gets its balance. I run the filter and aerator. Sir i am patience to get my pond crystal clear as the nature works. Iwas very happy to hear in your video in last that all these chemical are not necessary to use. Thank you sir. And please make a video about the establishment of a new pond with crystal clear water without using any chemicals. In a natural way. Thank you sir.

Please do a video on proper use of bb, I have real trouble down here getting through to people the benefit of using it. I personally don’t use any copper based products but I do live in a colder climate and generally don’t have the need. Beside that I don’t mind a bit of string algae, not that I have a lot. I do like the movement and a it’s a great treat for my fish and also great for their colour enhancement. Good video.👌

Thanks Mel. I did one not too long ago on beneficial bacteria. I tend to only use it in my new ponds and in early spring. Once the weather warms up I find it reproduces just fine.

Did you made another video about the water treatments?

Not at this stage. I hardly use anything once the pond finds its balance. I’ve found my aquascape pond needs a does of flocculent every 2 months to keep it looking good. The ponds with bog filters need no additives at all.

Hey I have a question/concern. I finished my (12 x 10 x 2 feet , 1700 -1500 gallons ) pond and filled it up with water 2 weeks ago and than added 13 small goldfish a week ago. I made sure there werent any chlorine or any toxic chemicals in the water. I've added beneficial bacteria and a few pond plants to the pond as well. Right now my pond water is turning green, very cloudy, and has a slight smell to it. Did I add fish to early? Should I only feed my fish twice a week? Will adding an aerator help? Are there any chemical I need to add ? Can you please help and let me know what I should do ? thank you! Your seriously the best pond channel

I think 13 small goldfish in that volume of water shouldn’t be a problem even in a new pond. It’s very common for the pond to experience some growing pains as it matures. Aeration is always good as it’s good for the fish and the bacteria. If the water is going green you don’t need to feed the fish as they have food available. The smell is a concern do you have any filtration? Any water movement?

It was my understanding that copper based algae killers will also kill insect life in the pond. Is that true?
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 3 жыл бұрын
That is my understanding also John. Anything with an exoskeleton, copper will affect- including shrimp. Coptrol which I used claims to be safe for fish, plants and wildlife. So far so good. But I’ll keep everyone posted 👍

@@Ozponds I found that not too long after my IonGen (Copper Ionizer) failed I started having insect life in the pond. My fish also seemed to winter better - probably snacking on insect larvae in the fall and spring. Anyway - Now I have lots of dragon flies, damsel flies and other water bugs - much healthier pond. Especially if we want to call it an ecosystem pond. Thanks for your time putting together the videos.

Yes John, indeed it’s not really an ecosystem if we are killing off such important critters. Unfortunately many new pond owners freak out about string algae. It’s easy to tell them it will find a balance but many people want a quick fix. I needed to find something that did the job in a new pond. So far this is the best I’ve found. Like you mentioned about the ion gen if it’s running constantly it eliminates too much life. Thanks for watching the videos. I think every garden needs water but often the price tag for a professionally built pond excludes so many people. I’m just trying to provide cost effective advice, I hope that comes across.

The best thing for a new pond is patience. But if you need to use something to treat a particular issue it’s just on a as you need it basis.

@@Ozponds I have Four ponds and I put fish in 3 days after putting water in it. The fish helps cycling the water.
@Ozponds
@Ozponds 2 жыл бұрын
Yes adding fish helps but it’s not critical. The second things begin decomposing in the pond the cycle starts. A pond without fish still has a nitrogen cycle.
