So, according to Porsche, "The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG has decided to manufacture the next generation of the Macan as a fully electric series." What do we think of this?

AutoTrader it sucks. Electric cars in most countries do not make sense. There is no proper infrastructure to charge the cars....

@@fernandokaadou97 I am the opposite - would LOVE it if it was available now, I would have gotten one but I got the petrol turbo instead since I couldn't wait two more years. I am looking forward to the day when I don't have to breathe in the crap spewing out of petrol and diesel engines - one day we will wake up and realise we have been passive smoking in our cities for years and not even thinking about it!

Another great review from Rory. Seeing both these reviews and Chris Harris’ non-televised (i.e. KZfaq only) stuff really reinforces how ‘broad’/stifling the Top Gear format is. In this format, each of them get to do what they do so well, with sufficient time and without the need for contrived “comedy” scenarios...

I’m so sad about the gasoline engine being gone! I love the drama of gas cars with their load noises. They are also more convenient given the fact that it only takes 5 minutes to get to a full when it takes anywhere from 1 hour to 8 hours to charge an electric car!

I think The Porsche Macan is the most beautiful sport SUV. I like the Macan dashboard infotainment system and steering wheel. i like the Macan folding tow hook and rear seat USB connection.

Excellent video. It’s all very sad I have a 2017 Macan S and I’m not looking forward to see the next generation as it will be electric and have too many touch screens everywhere and also the buttons in the centre I love will all be touch screen also. Happy with my current Macan S. So comfortable, fast, safe and the best car for long trips ever.

In the US the Burmester sound system is an extra $4700, not included. Not sure if different in the UK, but I'd be surprised.

My driving instructor used to say that never let your hands do the X or cross while negotiating a sharp corner lest the machine may have you for lunch should you need to turn a little bit more and you can't. I guess its different case here, isn't it ?

A hybrid as an intermediate step makes more sense till they have the infrastructure to support all electric. OR!!! Make a deal with Tesla who have the largest network IN THE WORLD right now.

I hope for some Exhaust Sounds in Sport+ ... I hear many that the PSE Sport Exhaust a little bit quite (and not very sportiv) from the new Macan Turbo.

Any thoughts on whether this BMW X4M competition is better or worse than the Porsche Macan Turbo. I'm yet to test drive either but will be buying one or the other early next year. I'm a die hard BMW lover, so will not be choosing a Mercedes or an Alfa. Age will not be an issue, so the price saving on buying a Macan is considerable it seems. Feedback would be valuable, thank you

@Clive Aroskin: Try the AMG GLA 45 I guarantee you will be impressed. 375 hp and enough modes to go from snooze to oh shiiiiiii**t as the mood takes you. Slightly more of a sleeper than your average Porsche owner may wish for. Don’t discount it without a test drive.

Full electrification of a model line is stupid in one sense but in actual fact as proven if you want to make the most of the vehicle as a whole it has to be designed as an EV right from the get go, not an adaptation, if you want it to be as good as it can be. A electric Macan, no thanks and while interesting even if I could afford it I wouldn’t buy a Taycan either.

I still find it disappointing compared to the 510 hp V8 Mercedes AMG GLC 63 S and the 510 hp Inline 6 BMW X3/X4 M Competiton. For Porsche’s top of the line mid-size SUV, its silent V6 is only 20hp more powerful than compact-SUV Mercedes AMG GLA/GLB 45 S or 40 hp more than the Audi RS Q3 and its glorious 5 cylinder.

Hey Rory, it's correctly pronounced as the Machan, not the Makhan. Macan is the name of an Asian Tiger. The letter " C" follows by the letter "A", sounds like church, cha, etc.

Highly doubt the X3M would be able to go off road like the Macan can though, the Macan might not be as fast in a straight line but it’s a much better SUV over all.

John Middleweek either way the BMW isn’t a proper off road vehicle, the Porsche is, that extra 20K was spent on ensuring it can actually still be an SUV not just a jumped up hatchback with a lot of horsepower, if you wanted to just go fast you should just get an M5, if I wanted to be able to go off road and go fast I wouldn’t even consider BMW, at least with the Macan there is no compromise.

It’s Porsche design Porsche (2.9 litre V6) engine and Audi use this engine in their RS4, RS5 etc..

Exact same engine and output as my RS5, just slower.. RS burns this to dust and comfortably gets family of 4 and golf clubs in the boot.
