Man of all the Penn Reels, Slammer 3 is probably the best of the best. I gave it 9/10 because I just hate the automatic bail close which made me lose a lot of lures. Yes, I manage to change it to manual now. But it would be nice if they can change it all to Manuel. And they already have Penn slammer 4 coming out, damn time is moving fast. I wonder will that Penn slammer 4 handle fit the Penn slammer 3 handle. Love Penn.

@@robertmartin265 dx has upgraded internals and and one more bearing for a little extra water resistance. Visually is the dx models are silver and black instead of gold and black.

Did Penn address that weird knocking noise the reel makes at the bottom of the oscillation? The Slammer 3 is an awesome reel but sometimes that noise gets annoying.

Hi there I want to ask your opinion about the new slammer iv 2500 I've got a spinfisher vi 2500 and i want to understand the level of water tightness between those two reels The spinfisher vi 2500 is a ipx5 water proof reel and the slammer is a ipx6 I want to know how many more water sealants the slammer iv 2500 version brings comparing with the spinfisher vi 2500, and where they are located I'm sorry to bothered you with this question but I think that's a very good question for us buyers I want to understand if it's a real big difference or it's just penn's propaganda i dont want to spend money just to fish with a new model if the diference its not that much in the water tightness. I'm very satisfied with my spinfisher. And let's just say that I fish every weekend in very rough salt water conditions I hope to get an answer from you soon

The Slammer IV has one additional seal compared to the Spinfisher. Probably the biggest difference is in the drag system; the Slammer IV has a "double drag", with elements on the top and bottom of the spool, including a huge drag washer on the bottom [HT100 in the 2500, and Dura-Drag on all other sizes]. The Slammer "DX" series also has CnC machined "stainless steel" main and pinion gears, which is a nice upgrade.

This and the battle 3 are exactly that. I have a battle 3 dx and it's super smooth and the sealing and brass insides make it super salt resistant.

The rep got confused on the Slammer 3 main gear. All Slammer 3 are all brass gear sets no aluminum regardless of size. He was confusing it with the Spinfisher.

Sounds like there is no reason to pay for more for the same IPX6 rating for the slammer 4. Slammer 3 all the way, if not just the spinfisher 6.

Improvement in the gears [especially in DX models] is well worth the higher price over the III's. The Spinfisher series does not have either the Dura-Drag material, or the "Double Drag" design. Spinfisher is fine for striped bass-class fish and down, but for tuna-class fish and up, the Slammer drag and gears are definitely worth it. All of them are IPX6, which is plenty of sealing for any kind of angling except "skishing", though relatively few anglers actually do that.

The PENN spinning reel series that is "Made in USA" are the Torque II models. The Slammers are made in China.

It always amazes me when people that work for the company itself and run product promotions HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE REEL EVEN IS 😂... No sizes in the Slammer 3 had an ali main gear, that's the Spinfisher, Slammer 3's were already all brass.

I love how these companies keep pumping out new reels every few years just to get people to buy them. I'm done with all these Chinese made reels. I have a vintage Penn 704 greenie and a vintage Penn 710. They will both outlast any Chinese piece of crap reel 5 times over.

@@Gio-nl7eg that's right. My old ass gear will still be in service in another 50 years. The fish don't care what reels you're using. I've owned a Penn fierce, battle, pursuit, and other Chinese made reels. None of them made it more than 3 seasons. Since purchasing my 2 vintage Penn reels, I'm set for life. I'll never have to buy an overpriced Chinese reel again.
