Hi Mark. 1.2 is a "Wet Belt" system similar to the Ford Eco Boost engine. Correct engine oil is expensive. I thing the front wing maybe plastic. It is on my Pug 2 0 0 8 model.
@rickwilliams1505Ай бұрын
Wet belt would not buy one of these , maybe time to do the belt it would be a better selling point. Apart from the engine it looks great in black 👍
@mickdavenport5628Ай бұрын
Great video Mark 😊 the 208’s are Good cars but the 1.2 engine is a wet belt engine and they’re poor, belt breaks up and kills the engine. P.s the badge has come off the bonnet.

Factory built-in Tech and 'infotainment' will be the thing that ages cars more than body styling. And unlike the old days, when you could just 'bung in' another radio, modern tech is more embedded. Come back in 5 years time and that touch screen will seem like a 386 PC?

Them 1.2 puretec engine has a wet belt they are a worse than the ecoboost engine unfortunately
@stewartbrown4394Ай бұрын
Will look brilliant when done. Only thing that would worry me is the wet belt but as long as it’s been serviced correctly it shouldn’t be an issue. I’m a big fan of the 208. The steering wheel and dials are a bit marmite, personally I love it. Had my 62 plate 1.4 3 door for 3 years as a run around and don’t see myself getting rid anytime soon.
@gordimac9Ай бұрын
last car and present car 208 first one was1.4 vti 2013 which i think had the engine left over from the 207 and present one 1,2 with wet belt wish it had the 1.4 fitted

Best replacing the bonnet Mark, not cost effective to fix and repaint.

Looks like a nice motor m8 very tidy, the insurance companies seem to write of cars for for fun of it although they work to the cost and repair and market value I get that but seems criminal !

Mark , Just ignore these French car haters, I had a 62 plate 208 for 3 and a 1/2 years without any problems at all, since then I have had 2 Renault Capturs again with no problems, of course any car has their own problems but with the right maintenance you will do well! The front badge fits on the bonnet by the way! There is not much of a grille above the bumper, I have asked before, still waiting for you to get a Renault Captur in!
@ResurwreckAutosUKАй бұрын
Thanks mate you are so right I’m definitely doing the timing belt on this one just waiting for the timing locking tools 👍👍

Insurance are now using AI to assess cars. They just ask claimant to upload photos of damage and AI assesses the category of damage. All of the human insurance assessors will be redundant soon enough.
@Stormy177Ай бұрын
I genuinely thought you were going to reveal that you'd bought something a little bit exotic (like an Alfa Romeo Mito/Giulietta, or an Audi A1/A3). That Pug is a stylish car, but black doesn't really show off its lines fully. I'd avoid opening the front passenger door until you've got the wing off - you don't want to damage the door (please don't ask me how I know!). At around 18:24 it looks like there's a crease in that front wing that shouldn't be there, judging by the way the light catches it. If you've found a replacement you'll probably save yourself time and headaches by swapping it out, rather than trying to repair the one you've got. (If you do manage to repair the one you've got you could always keep a spare, or possibly as training material for apprentices, or sell it on to recoup most of the cost.) Do dealers often help out in terms of providing missing service history? How much do they charge for the privilege? If it turns out that a car was serviced at different branches, can one branch typically provide a full history, or just the services they did?

The 1.2 puretech is rubbish engines get wet timing belt
@stevenwesthead636Ай бұрын
These are absolutely terrible engines, a bit like the Ford EcoBoom but worse. I’ve had several customers with engines which have vandalised themselves at under 50k miles. Would not go near it.

Lack of main Dealer service like The Ecoboost to many skimp on Service

All three had full main dealer history so it can’t be blamed on neglect.

Hi Mark, Nice car. I have exactly the same at present. Never had one either, and just wanted to ask a question. Mine also has that 1.2 3 cylinder engine, and I notice that when pulling away, I can't work out if it has a slight vibration ( clutch) or its just a characteristic of the 3 cylinder engine , not quite as smooth as a 4 cylinder engine.
@ResurwreckAutosUKАй бұрын
Hi mate I have noticed the same thing I think it’s the 3 cylinder engine I’m probably going to do the timing belt on this one it’s a wet belt Peugeot say 60k miles or 7 years old 👍👍

I'm wondering why you aren't considering buying the flood Fiesta back. You went through the car recently and you've got an engine sat there doing nothing. Plus autos fly out the door. Sorry, but I'm confused. Good luck anyway.👍 👍
@ResurwreckAutosUKАй бұрын
Hi I mate it’s a simple as there are lots of other things to consider plus the car has all ready gone to another garage it’s not my car I don’t own it it’s up to the owner yes it’s their choice
@bigphilswheelsАй бұрын
Sorry Mark. I was under the impression that the car was still with you and were looking to move it on for the owner. Still think there's a few quid in it for you though.👍👍

I always stay away from French cars, the engines are terrible and they are cheap plastic rubbish! That is why they are cheap to buy! They do make them look smart but it’s what is under the skin that matters, best of luck with that one!
