Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care

Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care

Жыл бұрын

Feature length mowing, string trimming, hedge trimming, and edging on a new client visit. The lawn was something like 3 or 4 weeks of growth, nothing crazy, but some of the hedge trimming was a real workout. The lawn does get treated so it is very thick and healthy grass thanks to the fertilizers and other treatments the company in charge of applications applies.
For this job I used my Bobcat QuickCat 36" stand on mower, mainly because it is the only of my mowers I have an OEM chute blocker for and if I didn't use one I would have shot clippings into landscape beds. I get lots of comments about installing OCDC (operator controlled discharge chutes) but don't want to sink the cash into one since in most cases I don't need one.
The edger, string trimmer, and hedge trimmer are all TORO 60 volt attachment products, which run off one 60 volt power base and attach/detach in the middle of the shaft. The hedge trimmer is articulating, which means the angle of the hedge trimmer head can be adjusted.
Q and A:
Q: Why are you mowing in that pattern? You should have mowed in straight lines.
A: Making a video like this requires cutting the yard into small filmable sections. Straight lines don't make a good video, so I go in small squares or circles instead.
Q: What equipment are you using?
A: Bobcat Quickcat 36" stand on mower, TORO 60V attachment capable base with string trimmer, hedge trimmer, edger. Some random hand tools. STIHL BR800 blower.
Q: Didn't I see this video before?
A: No, this is a new yard I have never serviced or filmed before. In the future week or two you will see a sped up version of this video that is much shorter without the commentary. I haven't made two versions of videos in a long time, but am going to start doing it again as some people like the long videos and some like the short ones. It also gives every project two videos, which means more content in the long run.
Q: Who was in the video with you?
A: My wife often helps me with larger cleanups or projects like this one. On this job she was responsible for collecting all the hedge trimming debris and shuttling it back to the truck. She probably saved me an hour and a half of labor by helping me with that task.
Q: Why do you string trim like that?
A: One reason it looks weird is I am left handed, so hold the trimmer different than most. I also always trim from right to left so the clippings get thrown away from the bed.
Q: Why are you using such a small mower? You need a bigger one!
A: That mower is the only one I can block the chute.
Q: What kind of truck and trailer are you running?
A: I drive a 2021 Chevy 2500 Custom with a 7x14 Carry-On utility trailer with two foot mesh sides.
Q: Why are you using battery equipment?
A: While this equipment isn't commercial grade, it has the power I need for any job I tackle. I also have enough batteries to get me through a day, so there is no reason for me to keep running gas at this point (except for some specialty equipment like backpack blower, commercial pole saw, other things where there is no battery equivalent yet)

I can not put into words how much I love seeing you working a proper job here. I don't mind the free lawn care videos from other channels but they have gotten ridiculous. They are starting to pay home owners. To me this isn't charity anymore, it's them starting to run out of ideas on how to outperform each other.

Hey, Brad! It wasn't an abandoned property. It wasn't 3 to 6 feet tall. It wasn't fined by the city and no weeping owners who were surprised that you would do it for "free." Yet it was, "ODDLY SATISFYING." 🤣 Great video, Brother. Real honest to goodness work. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend!

All nice and tidy! One thing you can do when you want to keep your clippings out of the mulch is to lay a tarp down extending under the bushes. It won’t catch it all, but most of it. Also when trimming juniper if you will undercut at the front edge it gives a nice cascading appearance and then you don’t see the ugly brown underneath from a straight cut. Of course this has to be done by hand. Finally use the loppers. When you don’t it leaves a jagged edge and takes longer to heal thus inviting infection. Same thing when you have those volunteer trees growing in the hedge. If you don’t cut it at the base it will just look bad again very quickly. I know your arms had to be killing you when you got done. Really nice property.

My hedge trimmer is also a saw. It’s part of its specifications, so nothing wrong with using your hedger to cut branches. To be honest after watching you I prefer the hand held hedger. I can shape things more accurately. You did a great job and I like how you explain things along the way.

I like this style video. This is real life. I like the commentary on the tools you are using. As a pro, I watch these videos to make my buying decisions on what equipment to buy so I like the real time feedback on how you are liking the product. An electric mower that weighs 100 lbs, have mercy 🥴. I always carry my 100 lb Honda 21" and a lightweight cheap 21" Lawn Boy. The Lawn Boy always wins. You never know until you are out in the field and I've made plenty of expensive buying mistakes🙄.

I know you normally leave most of your tree/shrub trimmings at the curb, but it looked like you loaded them up this time. Different town? As for length, honestly I like both short and long (though I know that's not as good for the algorithm) Sometimes I like a 2 minute montage, other times, a full service like this. But also your mid length smaller jobs or product reviews. It's all just nice and easy-going and I know it won't stress me out.

I love that you have your wife Kendall come out and help you. You guys did an amazing job. It's a beautiful property that just needed some polishing up. Also I'm with the other comments. All you see anymore are free lawncare service. While I think it's nice of them to offer and help the less unfortunate, people need to make a living these days and your content is just as good if not better and you charge your clients! It's just gotten crazy! Everyone jumping on the lawncare juggernaut bandwagon. Also Johnny from blades of grass said how nice it was to meet you when he went to Toro headquarters. He said everyone was so nice in person and mentioned your name. Wasn't sure if you saw his latest video!?
