Definitely not an easy task, I had to check every corner of the game, and compare each versions side-by-side, not only that, in some rooms, like the deer room for instance, I had to make assumptions and multiple tests and it literally took me almost a full month to find out out how the room properly works. If you're a content creator and want to use some of these infos as a reference, please I would really I appreciate when you give me credits for professional courtesy. Back when I made this video, there were no any other website that dealt about this subject, even the gamefaqs, and this still continues to this day. Everything was planned, tested, and found from the scratch, especially the deer room, and enormous time was spent in there to get into conclusion.

It is wild to me, that the German DC had the uncut intro. Being from Germany, this was a time when Germany often would get heavily censored versions of games. For example, in RE3 nemesis, blood was grey and corpses would vanish right away.

This is amazing. I remember as a kid and was mind blown when I played RE1 and had different scenarios than the first time I played it. Such a stroke of brilliance to have difference occurences in the game.

For anyone thinking Japan wasn't trying to show violence by keeping it black and white on the video filter, Two reasons for this, First being so that those that can't handle the sight of blood specifically can still watch a fairly violent scene without much difficulty and being squeamish. Second, it's a way of referencing and staying true to the tone of the original Romero films which have been credited as the first Zombie films.

Definitely worth the wait! Excellent editing and a lot of interesting insights! I'm curious if the Saturn and PC versions have any differences aside from some of the most common ones? (Double Tyrant, reskinned Hunters, Wesker Zombie in Battle Mode...) Also 22:28 - I never noticed that when you get beheaded, the hunter actually keeps your head in it's claws! Should the other RE have such differences, I'd be happy to see them. For instance, all the things you can do in Scenario A that will impact Scenario B in RE2? And what changed occured over the re-releases of the games like GameCube? Excellent work Kendo as always, looking forward to whatever you post next!

If you had to ask me to pick my favorite resident evil, it will always be OG RE1. Everything hit right. Loved how they set it up like a supernatural thing is going on and by exploring the mansion you piece together that its a part of a conspiracy with the pharmaceutical company that owns the mansion. Combine that with wesker's betrayal , the tyrant killing him and the countdown before the facility explodes ***chef's kiss***

I dunno if you used a magnum handgun for the Director's Cut version, but I noticed you've been making single head blasting headshots on the Director's Cut playthrough. Man, those shots were so satisfying, especially when you see brain guts fly off even on a pixelated old-school graphics like that!

Such a well put together video! I haven't played the original Resident Evil since Director's Cut was released, and yet the camera angles from the original were the ones I recognised. No surprise that it's still my favourite game.

You know, just enjoying this video. The first zombie scene, traumatize as a child but I got over it (sorta). And then, seeing the cutscene of the kitchen zombie, I was like yes I love this small cutscene...but I got jumpscared by the zombie edit appearing during that scene XD. Gosh, even after many years, this game still scares me and I absolutely love it. Thank you Kendo for the time and effort to give us an amazing video.

I know that a majority of Resident Evil fans love Resident Evil 2 the most and was their Magnum Opus of the franchise, but in my opinion, no other Resident Evil in the franchise can top the original Resident Evil and it’s story plot of a Rescue Tactics Unit being trapped in a horrific abandoned unknown mansion that was in the middle of a vast forest where so many people have gone missing. The setting was perfect, the characters were perfect, the plot was perfect, (especially in the remake), the music is unforgettable and etched in every gamer’s brain that has had the awesome experience of playing this masterpiece. I still have a sense of uneasiness and dread whenever I play the original on PS1, the music and atmosphere just make the experience more creepy, especially if you are playing this game all by yourself on a cold, windy Fall Season night. I have so many great memories with this game and it’s my number 1 in the franchise for me at the very top, and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis is my second favorite Resident Evil game in the entire franchise. I know the voice acting was cheesy as hell, but it never bothered me, it just gave me a sense of feeling like I was playing a cheesy horror movie myself lol, and it was good to see other characters and interact with them, because exploring the creepy ass huge mansion, garden, guardhouse, cave systems under the garden and guardhouse, and finally the Laboratory all by yourself, just made you feel so isolated and feeling as if you are the only one still alive and thinking if your other teammates got over run by dead residents, BOWs, or Mansion Traps and thinking that they may have died. The game will always have a special place in my heart.

Wow, I love this comparison video between all these versions, great work. Today, they no longer know how to make horror games like the classic Resident Evil games. We were lucky to experience this iconic era of horror gaming.

I remember watching a video ages back that said the deer room zombie event only happened in Director's Cut and I was so confused because I distinctly remembered the event happening on my original PAL release. So for that clarification alone thank you!

The soundtrack differences at the end brought back haunting memories. I had the US dualshock version as a kid, was only about 8 playing it. But had the standard UK directors cut years later, as bought it to play on the PS2 as one of my favourite games. I thought there were differences, but never really figured what. Thanks for sharing.

As someone who grew up with the DC GH version, music be damned, RE1 and 2 were both terrifying when I was 12. I learned quite a bit from this video, especially the Deer room, and meeting Barry on 1F. But by the time I played Deadly Silence in 3DS, I wasn’t aware it was based off the 1996 release, outside of the lack of DC difficulties, and of course Rebirth mode. That it never really sunk in until I read online and heard the soundtrack from each game, because I grew up with the DC GH OST. Awesome job, Kendo, I’m sure this was a lot of work!

in France we had a very close version to the german one, uncensored mostly beside kenneth's head falling down. I'm very glad I played this version back then and now that I live in America I'm always sad there is no version comparable to this one even on the modern re-release.

I feel that the only issue with director's cut was the soundtrack, some songs were pretty neat, giving you that feel of something uncomfortable or something that makes you uneasy, but some others like the basement... I'm still wondering, was that a joke? Or a way to make players to chill out But the thing I hated the most was the change they made to the 2 tyrant battle Soundtrack Man! They really messed up with that. I always preferred Deadly silence, the knife was overpowered and it didn't took any space in the inventory, I wish this could be implemented in other RE games from the ps1

Awesome video bring back childhood memorys im big fan of Resident Evil games and orginal Resident Evil 1 from 1996 is my first RE i playing this masterpiece on premiere and have the german version i remember when i play and kill all the zombies in the first mansion but later i search for something and zombie respawn in room second floor before fighting the snake second time. Another room where zombie respawn i caled this room corridor U this is second floor in this room have 2 zombies in orginal but when you kill all zombies in first mansion 1 zombie respawn in this room this is bizzare

My favorite horror game to date I had grabbed a PS1 just for this and the other horror games as the Resident Evil series got me liking more horror games and some movies so just seeing how Resident Evil(1996) has these secrets and stuff is very cool and just the setting of this game made it a favorite for me to explore around
