This week i'm reviewing a new hard shell rooftop tent by a company called TopOak Overland! This tent is a lot like my last tent, the Nature Nest rooftop tent on Amazon. However, the Galaxy 1.0 TopOak rooftop tent has some awesome upgrades! This tent has a huge pop out design with a full sky view window over head. I have this tent and am totally happy with it. The top opens really high so I can sleep with my head at either end. That may not sound like a big deal, but, if my truck isn't totally level front to back, I can just sleep with my head on the high side. Their customer service has been awesome as well. The only "problem" I have had with it is the "skylight" plastic is cracking. Customer service is looking in to a fix for me. It's not a huge issue as I don't plan on using it until the weather warms up.

That styrofoam it ships with could double as insulation under the mattress.

Hey T.J. I'm glad we found your channel. My wife, Kelly, our kids, and I are planning a Florida to Alaska road trip this summer, and both the Topoak and the Naturnest look like great options for us. We are planning on purchasing a 2024 Chevy 2500 with a Leer topper, and I assume both rooftop tents will work on that rig. We're planning on the kids sleeping in the bed of the truck, and the adults on top. We look forward to your Topoak vs. Naturnest video. I'd be interested in seeing a few things in that video: which you think would be the fastest to consistently open and close, the most comfortable for sleeping, and the most durable.

Great video, thanks for the review. I did buy the Naturnest already partly based on your review. Based on their website specs,. it does look like this tent is 56" wide vs 52" on the Naturenest, which may be a factor to consider. I drive a Ford Ranger with an Xtrusion Overland rack, so the 52" is a perfect fit for my application. I also wanted to note that the Naturenest came packaged in a wood crate, so virtually impossible to get damaged. Looks like either tent is a winner. I'm in MN and plan to do some winter camping this year with a diesel heater as well.

You must have ordered through Topoak's website then, yes? My credit card company keeps cancelling/declining my transaction due to fraud alert. I spoke to them and they have me paranoid about allowing them to put the charge through. But if you have ordered through the link provided here, surely it's legit??? Did you have any issues with your credit card? WF says it looks like I am being scammed? Is it perhaps because the charge is going through Hong Kong??

@@ssoutdoorsy yes… I ordered through their website directly and used the code provided here… they were sold out… so I preordered it and paid… I’ve been in communication with them since last week and they provided me with the tracking information… as of today my tent should arrive between tomorrow and Monday… I logged in and checked the order and it’s in Georgia traveling to Orlando today… I didn’t have any problems with my bank… (so far) fingers crossed 🤞🏽… I guess I took a leap of faith with this tent… hopefully you can get this sorted out soon…

I am pretty sure this is about 4" Wider than the Naturnest and that is why it seems so much bigger. It looks to be the same as an "XL" version of some more expensive brands tents. Curious to see if you did a side by side and measure!

Really nice pop up tent. It's amazing how much more room that little bump out gives. Expect it to do fine, but the "in the field" test will be nice to see. The biggest test, will be how the boss likes it. If she gives the nod on it. 👍👍

I want a rooftop tent for my gladiator I just can’t afford it. 😢 Gladiator has a 5ft bed. If that’s 6’8” it would hang way off the back

I preordered for the next time in stock based on your review, hopefully ship around May 6. Can you tell me how this mounts to the roof rails? Some tents have a couple 1/2-1” T-slot rails, can you tell me the height of those and if that’s how these mount?
