In defence of RE, (not that they need any defence of course) Without them, I doubt I would ever have taken my motorcycle test. The interceptor is what finally made me cave into my mates constant badgering to get on 2 wheels. The look, the sound, the dealer back up, the warranty and roadside assistance, and the ability for me to work on the bike, and so easily customise it. All these things at an affordable price! Learning to ride isnt cheap, so thank you Stu, and RE for getting me out there on a bike.

I think the most appealing thing to myself about RE products is simply the fact of how firmly rooted they all are in the classic motorcycle design, the air cooled and dependable motorcycles that are not as much in a race for speed as they are in a quest for simplicity, dependability, and styling most people find very attractive. Anything that deviates too far away from that would be a huge turnoff for most I would think, and would seriously diminish the old school charm that is firmly attached to the brand. In the world in which we all live in today, it is nice to know that there are a few things that we can still count upon. By the way Stuart, you’re a treasure sir. I am really enjoying your videos.

An informative and therapeutic 32 minutes Stuart thank you . I have had my time with numerous overpriced stupendously powered machines only to become disillusioned with all the hype and cost. As a manufacturer RE are a breath of fresh air reminding me of why I began motorcycling in the first place over 4 decades ago. Easily maintained well priced products, a joy to own, polish and admire on a cold winter evening.

Don’t let the comments weigh you down. I was a seasoned RE loyalist when I lived in New Delhi. 7 years ago I moved to the US and then eventually to Canada. I always dreamed of owning an RE again and thanks to your in depth reviews, I got the confidence of buying a chrome Interceptor 650 last summer. I even rode it to the Rocky Mountains here in Alberta. You are doing great work and I watch almost every video you upload (sometimes multiple times!).

The purchase of a motorcycle is a personal one, I currently own a 2014 Triumph Bonneville bought this September and I really enjoy it. It was my 14th motorcycle, and have recently moved back to the UK and I am now living in County Durham and am looking forward to riding the Yorkshire Dales and Moors next year. The bike snobbery thing has never really been my thing having owned bikes from most manufacturers it was the bike that suited me and next year now I have my gear I will be test riding other machines including the various Royal Enfield models and probably the BSA and a few triumphs. Stu was right, the time of the big machines is over for a lot of riders, given my advancing years I’m 65 now, I just can’t see me ever giving up riding, I still love it 40 years on, but with various environmental laws dictating what we can and can’t do I still think I have a couple of new bikes left in me. I really enjoy this channel Stu you have it right.

I’ll admit I’m a Bonneville T120 owner - because of this channel. I’m very happy with my bike and I really love riding it. The reason I ride is for the sheer pleasure of riding and to be honest, I reckon I could probably get as many smiles per mile on any Royal Enfield. There are also numerous other bikes that I’d also enjoy riding. Overall though, what is really important to me is that the number of people who enjoy riding motorcycles increases. What they ride does not matter to me. The greater the number of people the greater the influence we have. There are things that really do annoy me about motorcycling. Both are about anti-social behaviour. I really dislike the miserable scrotes who thrash about on scruffy, unlicensed enduro/motocross bikes on the road and on public paths etc. and the others are the road racers who noisily thrash about in towns. Both will do us harm. But if you want to buy a cheap, small capacity Chinese motorcycle to have a bit of fun on, knock yourself out. I truly hope you enjoy yourself because that is what riding is about.

Excellent video as always! We see the same kind of brand snobbery in the US, from the same brands, as well as Harley owners. I’ll never understand it. I like bikes from everywhere on their own merits. Thanks for your thoughtful, informative videos, this is exactly why I enjoy your channel. Keep doing it your own way! Regarding the Classic, I think a 500 version would be fantastic! I hope it happens. If it doesn’t, I expect Hitchcocks or someone else will likely develop an oversized cylinder and piston kit at some point.

Indian Utuber, here in the states, gifted an 08' iron barrel, Bullet 500, to my son one year ago. He gave it to me. Bike notorious for not starting. HAD NGK BPR9ES PLUG...installed proper BPR6ES heat range. Now it starts 1st kick. I walk past my 100 HP custom Harley and jump on my new 27hp classic. Very rare in U. S...COULDNT BE HAPPIER. Ride on, Stuart!

I lost interest in Japanese bikes in the pre triumph resurgence years, and wasn't too impressed by the new Triumphs which seemed to me, too Japanese, and not really themselves. So recently I decided to get back in the saddle. I was appalled by the cost of new machines, and frankly felt they were too tech heavy in a sense. All I wanted was something that went well, looked nice and brought back that authentic feeling of contact with the bike. So discovering RE were still building bikes was a real treat. I know they're not for everyone, and my matt black meteor is sluggish, but it feels like the real deal to me. I just don't identify with Triumph at the moment, Breitling, Gibson special editions? Really What next a Bentley collaboration and a built in Rolex clock? I just don't get that kind of thinking. Triumph are lovely machines, but not that lovely when a 1200 is near enough twice the interceptor. Its not like they're even built in Britain, which could justify the extra cost. Plus the interceptor and continental are actually well built, lovely looking bikes, as are the 350s. I think if I had 12000 to spend on a bike I'd buy a Continental and a Classic, keep the meteor and do a raid on the extras catalogue. That new Bonnie just doesn't have a quite the pull it used to. I'm sure triumph riders would happily disagree, but having tested several Triumphs, they're not quite enough to justify the a big loan. LOL! PS: Maybe a BSA review has been requested because plenty of us know you'll do a great job and be honest, not beguiled by the name. But you're right. Wait until its in the showrooms and there's a few on the road

Im saving for a 500. The 350 is too slow for me, and the 650 twin lacks the thump of the big single. Hook it up RE! I will get run over on a 350 in California.

From across the pond in AmeriKa. I wish they did not get rid of the kick start. Major niggle of mine. Now beyond that I bought a 2022 GT 650 in chrome and I am in love with it. The exhaust swapped and the sound well let’s just say everyone that hears it is stunned never mind those that walk up and are just amazed how beautiful it is. I get a thumbs up everywhere I ride. I used to ride a 1632 cc Victory Kingpin so big switch. Royal Enfield thank you for making my cafe racer dream come true. Gorgeous and the sound can’t be beat. I hope Royal Enfield does produce a new 500cc single. I like the Meteor 350 but the top speed is too low for the highways where I live. The speed limit is 75MPH with traffic flowing at 80.

I'm not a superstitious person but I do have my fingers crossed that they do bring back a 500 version of the classic. Thank you for another great video.

Hi uncle Stu, a more modern "classic 650" would still be in keeping with the heritage of royal enfield, ie the 1953 bullet 500 and 500 twin both being of the j2 bullet variant. Although I do also think they could recycle one of their old model names and bring back the Constellation.

I just got the classic 500 as my first bike thanks to your channel, put on a dna air filter and an iridium spark plug and I absolutely love the machine, I ride it about 4 hours a day and have barely any vibrations to it and I just don’t get the people that complain about it. Thank you Stuart for showing me this beautiful machine.

Hello Stuart. I totally agree with your arguments about "customers brands proudness" especially with brands like Bmw, triumph, harley davidson and i would add ducati too. We are just humans riding bikes. And what we ride doesn't make us better humans. In France, and i think it's the same in many countries, there is a problem about Power and People always wanting more and more gadgets etc... A Suv to bring Kids to school, a bmw gs to go to the café etc... Personaly i'm so tired of this mentality, when people judge others on what they own, drive or ride, no pleasure can be found for them and that's why they often become haters. They can't understand how we can be happy with bikes like royal enfield's ones, or even with 125 bikes. It's stupid, very poor mentality, and ridiculous, but that's a fact. That's the main reason why i'm a lonesome rider. I Just dont want to deal with this mentality. I love royal enfield bikes, especially their low capacity models, and if i could i would have them all. They are made for real life, simplicity, easyness brings freedom, joy and make dreams come true. That is what i search in motocycling, instead of technical specs. Then if they bring a New classic 500 ( it's the maximum for me, i don't want a "selling dreams" bike) i hope it will be an air cooled one. If not i won't be interested. No words about a classic 650, for me it would be a non sense.

A "Classic” 650 twin in America would be HD worst nightmare. I hope, I hope, I hope. Even if they changed the name from Classic to Goat Roper 650 (or enter your name of choice here) a bike like that here in the USA would double the RE presence and brand respect.

Keep doing what you are doing Stu. People know you are honest and have integrity. Surely if the bike looks old fashioned the maker has achieved their aim of producing a retro motorcycle. Well done.

I have a 2021 T100 Stu. I chose it because it suits my needs, especially with regard to pillion provision. I'm not a brand snob as you know from my support for your channel and regular comments. I've had a very disappointing experience with Triumph UK's lack of support (not the dealer, they've been excellent). I'll not go into that as it's a long story. If I swap the T100 at the end of my PCP arrangement, I'll definitely be considering a Royal Enfield, either the Interceptor - or more likely the new Super Meteor 650. At the NEC bike show I was astonished at the quality of the latest crop of bikes from RE, especially the fit & finish of the Super Meteor. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a price though. I was also rather disappointed by one of the sales staff who was a bit unnecessarily negative about the T100. If you have a good product (and they most certainly do) there's really no need to rubbish other people's choices. Will we see a J platform Classic 500? Well, it depends on the viability of gaining an extra 150cc within the physical constraints of the existing unit. Without incursion into water jackets to consider, by adjusting bore and stroke I think it's entirely possible. And like you said Stu, it was probably the main consideration when the current unit was designed in the first place? Nice wave from the trail bike rider by the way - he's not a snob.

Back in the day (69-70) I ran a 1966 Bonneville 650. Loved it. Unless I wanted to travel far and fast. Good riding position. Good power Good handling. But trying to fun highways at 70-80mph too vibey. A summer morning or evening on a back road, fantastic. But.. I 1971 I was seduced by a CL350 Honda twin. It would do 100mph or 100 miles with tolerable buzz. My T500 twin Suzuki Titan was a better fit. As I expect the Royal Enfield 650 would be. Though a fuel injected Yamaha 500 Vision would be great. I thnk. FWIW I reroaded (made reliable as i could) an 1982 Yamaha 920 v-twin air cooled. Which had no rush but you could relax and ride. With great fun. Got talked out of it and went YZF1000R. Which wasn't comfortable under 80 mph. From there to 2002 Yamaha FZ1000. With improved suspension and saddle. But. I do think back to the 66 Bonneville, 71 CL350 and 72 T500. All different. All flawed. All fun. 5,000 miles on the 650. 35,000 on the CL. 22,000 on the T500. Joy all. The T500 was the lightest. At 73 years old lighter is better.

Finally someone who knows the propper history from the Boxer, loving the channel. I'm in the process off letting my gs go which has barley got a look in apart from picking it up and riding it a few times as I've been riding my 650ss Norton from 67' daily totally reliable does everything I Need it's done 4 winters and still looks great I got it to try keep the miles down on the Norton but still end up out on the Norton I don't have a car. The Enfields seem to really appeal to me, usable fun and easy to work on. The most fun I've had in 28 bikes Inc blades etc the 1927 Norton 16H flat tanker which I rode through winter. 4.9hp and 252lbs so much fun! An yep review stuff is a slippery slope I only talk about what I spend my hard earned cash on as I can be blunt or honest about them that way. Like the two ktms dad and I rejected at 147 and 269 miles which were a disaster. If they do a 500 cc classic on the new platform itl get my money :)

I think you are right on the money regarding an updated 500 classic. It would be the most sensible thing for Royal Enfield to do while incorporating minor production changes. And when they do, previous generation classic 500 owners can I appreciate their bikes more for what they were while at the same time those riders that would want a new classic 500 can also have chance at getting one.

Hi Stuart, I have been watching your channel for some time having left motorcycling 30 years ago and now looking to return. I really appreciate your common sense and am definitely being drawn towards Royal Enfield for my return to motorcycles after such a long break. It is good that there is at least one manufacturer that makes motorcycles that still look like motorcycles and not like something that has been designed on a computer, and at such a reasonable price too. Hi Stu I own one of these and love it to bits. Qualify? There haven’t been any issue during my two years of ownership. I do wash, polish and lubricate my motorcycle regularly and haven’t seen any rust problems either. Maybe it’s because I’m the old fashioned type (64 years old) who doesn’t expect other than this need for maintenance. It was probably the same with a Honda or BMW back in the 70’s/80’s... Short service intervals? Yes, compared to modern motorcycles that’s true. But it suits my need for driving 2000-3000km’s in the summertime each year perfectly. Fresh oil and chain maintenance once a year before driving the motorcycle into the garage for the winter... I see the maintenance bit as a natural and even cosy part of owning a wonderful classic bike. It vibrates quite a bit and all that. But that’s part of the classic style. And it’s an EFI model, so no carburetor problems. Wouldn’t dream of switching it for any other bike.😊

Oh dear. Stu the music drowned out what you were talking about 3/4 of the way into the vid.very hard to hear your views on the 500 engine. I agree what you say about the other reviewers. Keep doing your thing and be true to your idea of having the model for a decent length of time to truly evaluate the product.

I can’t believe that people hate Royal Enfield,in my garage is a Classic 500(‘12)and a Meriden (‘78)and an Hinckley Bonnie(‘06)and those bikes are equal for me because they all baked from a British recipe of the past! Greetings from the Netherlands and keep safe!❤

Common sense & careful research buys me my motorcycles. I bought my 650 INT after keeping an eye on the RE brand for a couple of years. Turns out that RE makes a great motorcycle & has a proven track record as a company as well as individual products. Completely happy with the 650 even after sorting out the few niggles it had,( it's a 2020 bought used in 2022). I got the 350 Classic this year. I have found the singles to be a fantastic ride. But I wouldn't plunk my money down on a BSA yet until they show me they've got their act together. Not convinced yet. If RE comes out with a big single I'd buy it tomorrow.

Stu, thank you for your honesty and truthfulness you present in all your videos. I enjoy your perspectives as I work towards obtaining my license and starting my riding career. I am currently living in snow, so i hope to be out next year. I do like the look of the 350 Classic and, like many mature people, I dont need to go screaming around the countryside with my hair on fire. Keep safe and keep producing engaging, educational and entertaining videos.

Hi Stu, I’ve been watching your channel for over 5 years. You gave me some good incites while making the decision to buy a T120 in early 2018. I couldn’t wait to watch each video you put out for the 1st couple of years and it helped me many times so thank you . Not so much these days as your evolution to a lot of RE content while still interesting to me , isn’t as relevant so I just check in from time to time. I agree with your observations about brand snobbery but in my experience it’s not limited to Triumph & BMW owners. I just don’t understand why people can’t simply appreciate a bike for the bikes sake. They all have their place and their owners probably love them as much as I love mine. A year or so ago I test rode two Triumphs and a Royal Enfield GT650 at a local dealership and came away most enamored by the RE. I didn't purchase anything that day but decided when the time was right I'd go with the GT650. When I informed my riding buddies about my decision one guy in particular (rides a Triumph) got quite upset and warned me that someone he knows had a RE and, "It was a total piece of crap!" I'd heard there were quality issues in the past and decided to research reviews online. The thing was I didn't find one review that wasn't mainly positive and most were quite enthusiastic. Yes they're not that powerful and the brakes and suspension are budget but reviewers admitted that at that price point it was understandable. Based on your reviews as well others I took the plunge a few months ago and purchased a GT650 and I couldn't be more happy with my decision. Thanks for all your hard work and honest reviews Stuart, I really appreciate it!

I enjoy the road you were on, slow and steady wins the race. The race that gets you to the end and able to do it again tomorrow! Not the bike I would have used as I would not be confident. Hoi Stuart, love your dissertation, accent and lay back way. My father rode a military 350 Cc RE right after the war. Could buy it for a few buck from the English army in Belgium after the liberation. He said it was already worn out when he bought it. But he had fun with it for many years 😄. The value of a bike lies not in its worth, but in the fun you can have with it. In the 80´s my brother restored a BSA b40 from the english army. Nice and simple bike. No counter balancing the crankshaft in those days. When it turned idle on it´s centerstand, it made our whole garage trembling. I rode a Yamaha SRX600 single for 23 years. It was reliable with a great low revving engine. 45 Hp for 160 kg. Engine derived from the Dakar offroads of the 70´s. Kickstarter. You needed to have the hang of that 😉. Now I´m on a 125 cc for 5 years and I must say: I rediscover pretentiousless and simple motorcycling. Simple mechanics to work on. The pure joy of riding 70 km/ h and thinking : I can even go 95 when I have the wind behind 😃😄. I am contemplating a 650 RE. But I´m.not sure if I want to give up my 125cc which brought me so much pure joy ❤. Greetings from Belgium.

On point as usual with your thoughts. I have the Interceptor 650 and love it. Several un-informed bikers constantly tell me how unreliable they are. I've had nothing but positive things to say about RE. Tempted with a combination this coming year.

Great video Stu. I agree with pretty much everything you said in this. The All New 350's are great bikes but as I have said before they will not put the ghost of the old Classic 500 to bed until they make another big single and it has to be a single, in my opinion too when it comes to the Classic. Personally I'd make it an air/oil cooled 600 and shoot BSA out of the water and give a great option to address power issues with the Himalayan too, whilst still keeping with the original vision of this bike. Just my view 🙂

Many mothers have beautiful doughters. I dont care what brand, if a bike catches my heart I try to get it. I still have an old BMW 800 twin, a Kawasaki Z200, a Z1000, but the last two times I lost my heart it was Enfields Himalayan and finally an Interceptor. All have their very own personality and I love all of them, so why choose if you can have it all? With bikes this is no problem, with mothers daughters it is ;-). Bought a classic 500 very recently. It's very similar to yours, Stuart. Although I have good riding experience overseas, I'm probably one of the very few that went and bought an enfield without any idea of what license is required here in the UK. It's truly a dream come true hearing that engine and owning an awesome piece of history.

I think you have a point there in regards "the blood line" with introducing a new classic 500 and it would be a very interesting bike for those getting into this segment of shall we say "Classic Revival" where we have new bikes based firmly on the brand history. For myself as owning a 2019 Classic 500 Pegasus - I got this very strong "never getting rid of this bike" - something I note with other Classic 500 owner as well. I am in the market for replacing my 2001 Suzuki VZ800 "Piggy" with a Royal Enfield somewhere in 2023 and had my eyes set on the RE Interceptor 650 and a lot of people figured it would be quite naturally for me to look at the Super Meteor and it is a great looking bike - but after 20 years of driving a mid range cruiser with similar looks, I want something different for my mid range driving pleasure. Whilst the Super Meteor would scratch the itch of experiencing a straight twin with classic British attitude, I am more drawn to the classic British looks as well - so at the end of that thought exercise, the Interceptor 650 stayed in focus... that is when I saw some leaked (concept?) pictures of a future release of a "Bullet 650" that looked like the spitting image of my first bike , a 1972 RE Bullet 350 with the 650 engine in it and i have to say - I'd throw my hard earned money at it in a heart beat. But I would agree with you in not calling that "Bullet" - "Constellation" would be a better fit. But that is just all personal preference gut feeling and heart yearning in shoehorning my desire to replace my trusty old Marauder for a new experience that at the same time is familiar (yup - emotional considerations do not have to make sense) And haters can smugly react that if i like shitty bikes that I will not be disappointed with that purchase and it is certainly true that my 1972 RE 350 had more breakdowns and spilled more oil then all 7 bikes together I ever owned. Each bike I got after the ole 350 I would praise for its reliability and the ability to be able to get me a lot quicker where I needed to be, but they didn't have "that thing" (I can see all the RE owners nodding here in agreement and everybody else not having a clue what I am talking about 🙂) I didn't find "the thing" again until I got my 2019 Classic 500 ( minus the oil leaks and breakdowns.) But that is just my opinion based on what I like, my circumstances, my personal motivations and if RE does release a new Classic 500, I am sure it be a success - but I would not be getting one - I have the space and means own 2 bikes and I'm sure as hell never part with my current Classic 500😁 At he end of the day everybody should drive what they like and don't need to justify it.

I'd buy a Classic 350 tomorrow but 20bhp is just not enough. A 500 Classic with circa 35 bhp would be right on the money ... others would be forming an orderly line behind me !.

I've had a few encounters with Triumph owners over my RE at bike meets. Downright aggressive and nasty at times. But explaining that I upgraded to the RE from A faulty T120 (repeated gearbox issues), Show them my warrant card and point out that they are committing a sec5 POA offence they tend to calm down and apologies!

Couldn’t agree with you more re your comments regarding KZfaq motorcycle reviews. I purchased a RE Classic 350 without riding it in March of this year. The dealer delivered it to my home and the bike was not used for several days due to the weather. When I did have an opportunity to take it out I found I could not get my foot under the gear lever consistently when wearing motorcycle boots. I am not aware that any reviewer mentioned this potential issue at that time or after. I contacted one UK reviewer who had given the Classic 350 a glowing review. He agreed he had had a similar experience but had not thought to mention it in his review! Keep up the good work Stu, your reviews are in a class of their own.

Hi Stuart, I think your right about the 500 bullet, it seems to be the missing link, and why bother with a 450 Himalayan, they may just as well make that a 500 and use the same engine in a new bullet, As for your video of the scratch remover, I watched it, and then bought the product using the discount code, so thank you very much for your advice, I once bought a 350 bullet in 2007, I loved it but it was too under powered and always thought I should have bought a 500, so on the strength of watching your videos about the Mule, I have just bought a 2015 bullet 500 classic and look forward to riding it in the spring, so keep up the good work, and I Would like to wish you and your family a very happy Christmas.

I'm surprised you are still bothering to run this channel about RE and that you haven't cast your Interceptor into the street because ......The new messiah has arrived ,and its name is the Goldstar ! Never have I seen so many videos effervessing about a bike that 99% of the you tubers are getting all moist about have never ridden ! Most of whom are hailing it as an Interceptor slayer . When i was 15yo (100 years ago) i would walk to route 66 cycle shop to sit on 74' interceptor 750. After 20 years in bike buisness, never saw or rode one. When i got my Bullet couple weeks ago, bucket list item crossed off.

We purchased a 350 classic this year for my wife and we both love it, after ridding the 350 my hope was a 500 single would be arriving but all the talk has been about a 650 classic. I have ridden and worked on a couple of 650's and if it does appear I will be happy to buy one, but a 500 single would be top of my list.

If memory serves me correctly BMW built the Austin Seven under licence and called it the BMW Dixie. I ride both a 2000 BMW F650 GS DAKAR and a 2002 500 Bullet ES, and love their totally different riding styles. If I could only keep one it would be the Bullet without a doubt.

Think you could be right about a bored/stroked 500 version of the J series motor. The J-350 is described as air and oil cooled, but there's no oil cooler. The additional heat generated by a 500 version could be accommodated by fitment of a discrete oil cooler without ruining the look of the bike or adding the complexities of liquid cooling. The RE bike which imo would benefit the most from some more ponies is the Hunter. Personally I wouldn't buy a water cooled 450 version but I would buy an oil cooled one. Interesting times ahead.

Yet another of your videos that has me nodding in agreement with everything you say! Like others have said, I really hope an air-cooled 500 will be forthcoming. On the subject of motorcycle reviews on other channels, I recently watched a review of a newly released 350 where the presenter, a strapping young chap, was unable to put the bike on it's centre stand obviously due to being unaware of the technique required, so he gave up and used the side stand! Another great video Stu, thank you. To echo an earlier comment… the music was a bit loud in the 25minute area and drowned out some of the narrative, otherwise, no gripes. I’m glad I’m not alone in my thoughts of motorcycle snobbery that exists. Ignoring the bikes I rode as a kid, my stable since the age of 16 (1971) has seen BSA, Triumph, AJS, Honda, Yamaha and Royal Enfield models. Enfield is the latest, my Classic 500 Bullet Trials (2019/20) taking the place of my BSA 500 Gold Star. The Japanese bikes were for touring and commuting and were classed by an eminent motorcycle magazine journalist as UJMs (the last being 1200cc sports tourer). I digress, the 500 thumper I now ride gets admiring looks from many, has started numerous conversations with old men who tell me they owned REs in the 50s & 60s and even one lovely old girl in her late 70s who, on seeing me park up at a supermarket, came over and said my RE reminded her of the bike (yes, an RE) she owned over 50 years ago when she was courting. Snobbery? Yes, from (surprise, surprise) the BMW/Triumph/Harley posers who ride out to the local bikers’ cafe on their immaculate trophies if the sun’s out and the the roads dry. Come the rain, comes the SUVs and Waitrose rather than Greasy Lil’s and a mug of builders. But, this is not why I’m commenting! Oh no! I want to know where that glorious off-road section of your ride is because my Enfield is weeping in the garage because we haven’t ridden it. Merry Christmas Stu. Hope to see you on the road one day. Thing is Stu, those of us that know what we want out of a motorcycle, know what WE get out of motorcycling and it's got nothing to do with racing, knee sliding, wheelies, stoppies and showing off the size of or wallets and our standing within the motorcycle hierarchy/and the size of our cohony's🤣! What we get out of our riding and our pride-of-ownership is not based on how how fast it is and whether MCN rate it.. it's a personal thing and you GET IT! Those haters of which you speak don't get it/don't understand the joy of owning something that isn't the biggest baddest bike to be revered by all other bikers! So you just keep doing your brilliant reviews and riding for the sheer brilliance of it, the thud, the easy handling, the ease of maintenance, the views, the pride of ownership, the low cost and the massive return we get from riding bikes that make us feel good about ourselves, rather than trying to make everyone else bow to our macho, all conquering mechanical supremacy! Keep up the good work..let the haters buy their crotch-rockets so these beautiful machines stay affordable!

If they make a classic 650 I think it would be their biggest success ever. I will definitely buy it. And really disappointed I’m not hearing about the 838 V twin bobber from RE anymore.

I appreciate your integrity. I haven’t ridden one but something about Royal Enfield charms me. I want a Classic 350 and one of their 650’s. I need to find a demo day near me or a place I can test ride when I’m ready for my next bike. If they come out with a new Classic 500 that may settle it.

I dearly love my 2018 Classic 500 in battle green! With ammo can panniers, it sure gets attention and what a joy to ride. It is just so simple, basic and comfortable. It's also apparently very rare here in New Mexico where I live. I haven't seen another one anywhere. I got mine for a song as the owner could not sort out a shifting problem. It just needed a wavy washer to tighten up the shifter shaft inside the case so it would properly engage the shift fork. Problem solved and runs like a champ. These are the most underappreciated motorcycles anywhere. Get one!

I had a series of Kwak tripples and latterly a FJ1200, but the bikes that piqued my young interest were Trumpets from the late '60s to the early' 70s. Bonneville 650s and the Trident. So when the later Bonnies appeared on the scene l was really interested. Still not bought one, but what changed my mind was when I bumped into a gent of similar age to me who was riding an Interceptor. But he also had a pretty new GSXR 1000. He just used both bikes for different purposes. And maybe that is the difference. You ride Bullets because you like that kind of bike. I rode Kwaks because I was a teenage nutter. I rode the FJ because I wanted to do some touring and having 500 bhp per ton two up was important then. Now, not so much. So, Stuart, keep on doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching.

I never knew about the hate towards Royal Enfield bikes. Personally I'm really excited about them, ever since the intercepter I've been buzzing. As it goes I don't own a bike these days but I'd love one. The Jawa bobber has also peaked my interest.

Love your ramblings and channel. Don't stop. See with a lot of channels every review is a mirror of the last one. As for the BSA, the engine is a Rotax. Very experienced engine company but I never liked my BMW F650GS. That would put me off. Think it's a shame RE used the Meteor name on a single. The name belongs on a twin. Had a Redich twin back in the day. Not to change.

Royal Enfield makes me feel good. Thats all I need. I'm 67 years old and remember the good old days. I still ride my Interceptor.

I owned two Bullets, long long years ago. And after quite some bikes and 3 sidecar-outfits over decades, ( I still have the BMW & sidecar) I saw the 350 Classic and bought it on the spot. Like I've probably mentioned before, I now own three bikes.. A BMW F650GS, a CanAm F3S Daytona Spyder (yeah I know its technically a trike), and my RE Classic 500... I ride the others but I prefer the C5.. I dont know what it is about it.. Its heavy, it rattles, its slow, and every now and again something comes loose and almost falls off... But out of my three "bikes" I absolutely love riding the Classic.. I even gave it a name - Emily (after what soldiers called their Lee Enfield rifles "MLE" Magazine Lee Enfield..)

When I saw the video was 32 mins long I thought this will be a long one but the time seemed like 10 mins. I was also fascinated by the ride accompanying the dialogue and was really wondering if you were going to ride up that rocky hill😊😊. Don’t change you have a great niche, happy Christmas 🎉

This is a great video and really relevant to me so thanks for covering this Stuart. I have been torn by the decision whether to pursue bike reviews which as you say generate the most views. I'm a relatively new channel and I've reviewed 2-3 REs and the Goldstar but my main content is travel vlogs and opinions. When I look at the reviews on youtube I've noticed the amount of spec sheet readers out there is crazy and the one thing to bear in mind is that every reviewer who has 'platinum level' access to bikes and releases usually has to tone down any negatives of the bikes, it's the price you pay for being so close to the brands. In my last 'review' from a demonstrator admittedly I was a bit too honest and I've learned that I've upset a few folk 🤔. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

The irony is a Royal Enfield sounds more like a BSA Goldstar...DB series... than the BSA Goldstar...If the sound of a British Single is what you are looking for....better buy a Royal Enfield single...The Royal Enfield has more in common with its ancestors than the BSA...

Thank you Stu, I enjoyed Friday's offering. A 500 version of the 350 Classic would be most welcome. Sadly if they do eventuate they will come without a kick starter which I truly miss on my 650. As for those who have negative views about the Enfield bikes, the old saying goes, there are none so blind as those who will not see. There has always been an element of one upmanship (bike snobbery) with bikes. It is apparent in any human endeavour, the house we own, the car we drive, the job we hold. I think your term of a sausage measuring competition is apt and it is not something I am the least bit interested in. Many folks here go touring on the 125 scooters and have a great time. I always stop and have a chat with these people because they are enthusiastic about riding and camping. I like your approach to reviews and more power to you. The rush to publish a review of the BSA was amusing but none mentioned that there are no bikes for sale at dealers as yet. I reckon if I was in the market I would be annoyed with these reviewers if I had my heart set on one only to be told by the dealer that there aren't available. Poor form.

I enjoyed this video very much. Your channel to me is very easy listening. There is a genuine feel good factor about it. I do not ride a RE yet. Will I? Yes! The new Honda Transalp has suffered “in depth” reviews by TONS of “reviewers” who don’t have access to the bike. You’re spot on, again…

500cc in 2024/5 makes perfect marketing sense as the 3 year warranties on the 350cc bike will be running out. It will be a great time to pick up (even) cheaper decent quality 350cc bikes for those that want them during that time. And, of course, the 500ccwill fly off the shelves, if priced right. Thank you for yet another good listen and watch.

First of all I have always had a soft spot for Royal Enfield from the 1950s even though I have owned 6 BMWs and still have 3 of them. So not all BMW owners are haters. I am thinking of getting a new bike for the petrol consumption. I have decided on the Himalayan with it's 90 miles to the gallon. Liked the ramble very much. Keep at it.

That motorcycle back roads tour of East Yorkshire was brilliant 😁 I was in Leeds and Wakefield not too long ago visiting friends and would love to spend some time touring greater Yorkshire. As someone who grew up with bikes [and have owned a broad range of displacements and brands] I can't understand why anyone would actually 'hate' any particular marque (except maybe those crappy disposable Chinese scooters you can rent at tourist traps), especially when that hate is based mostly on hearsay and prejudice. As for myself, I currently ride a Tiger 800 (and prior to that a K1200S) but am seriously considering moving to a modern classic - either a Bonneville or an Interceptor (my only issue with Royal Enfield is the nearest dealership with any inventory is across the border in Vancouver Canada). I would love a 500cc Himalayan. The sit up riding position, the big bag racks, the gravel road capability, long range on a fill, comfortable seat with the low height, and enough power to keep up with the traffic on a long uphill.

I've owned many brands including 5 Harley's, 3 BMW's and 2 Triumphs and what got me in the end was the attitude of the dealerships that felt their product was so superior the customer could either like it or lump it; and I just hope RE dealerships do not go the same way. Definite step in the right direction for RE to distribute the machines themselves and be closer to buyers and hopefully receive feed back.

My only issue with current Royal Enfield, as a brand, is I understand that that they need to find their market and sell to a select consumer, but they’re alienating quite a few of their faithful owners from the past. All their marketing and catering now is directed at tight jean wearing hipsters who are new to riding and women riders. Absolutely nothing wrong with either one of those, but it’s not wise to box yourself into projecting you’re for only two types of people and nobody else. Not everyone is 20 years old with a curly tipped mustache and a handkerchief hanging from our back pocket. If the 500 comes back as a single pumper like the old bikes, that would be absolutely great! I’ve owned a few Enfield’s in the past and miss them dearly. I’m currently loving my Moto Guzzi bikes but there’s always a chance of coming back home to Enfield!
