Doyo Korea comes out with what could be the first dynamic magnetic brake system from that country. Also is the Aldebaran being discontinued?

Hey i didnt see you talking about the new shimano cauis c. Its the new replacement for the cauis b. Its half oz lighter but the spool diameter went down 2mm and became 1mm wider. Dont know if the spool got lighter or not.

Shimano metanium shallow spool is a great lighter weight caster, I have it on a GLX 892c JWR and it’s so bad ass! I like the new DOYO reel tech, it totally looks sexy in black.

If they offer to send me a Draken perhaps. But I dont think they are sold anywhere but Sweden?

@@THEREELTESTThey will also sell in foreign markets. At least that's what their website says. Draken is expected to end up at retailers in Sweden at the beginning of June. Svivlo seems to have a unique braking system.

I've only handle a few of the lower end Lew's reels. I fully expected them to be poor casters, but in reality I found them to be very impressive. I wonder if this will make them even better.

I'd like to see Doyo get a better drive train. I have enjoyed my Lew's fine, but for $200 area they just don't offer what a Curado does. The gap is even further at around $350, say versus a Bantam or Zillion. Dual supported pinions and better tolerances make a big difference, not so much in casting distance but durability/reliability. Also not having a spring behind a drag star to eliminate handle gap is a big fail in $200+ area reels.

I've had that coba iv rainbow for almost a year now and its been a fun reel. I believe the new bates baitcasters may use the same breaking system as them. Very smooth but not shimano buttery smooth. Come with a drag clicker and loud in my opinion. There is a nice hook keeper option too on the back of the baitcaster which for some reason when lews import it they take away. I do think with the new break system the distance definitely suffers a bit but I rarely backlash with that reel. Kinda reminds me of Daiwa's sv reels and how they perform. Weight wise I've never measured it but it is on the lighter side, then again I do usually rock antares reels so everything feels light when I'm not fishing those.

I wish they have them in stock but they ain’t have any 15 metanium dc for over 2-3 maybe 4 years now because I like the old better than the new one

Perhaps they’ll keep it in the US market and not the JDM market like the Chronarch MGL?

I have a very hard time believing they would abandon the Aldebaran Mgl and not to release a new one. They literally just released two 30 size Mgl3 spooled reel, where one is a medium weight/size and the other one is a round reel. They would leave the 30 size light/small Aldebaran frame out completely? I don’t think so. The current Aldebaran bfs is a very likely platform for it and it already has possible diameter for a 32mm ish spool. I mean they could get rid of the Aldebaran completely for sure, but that just makes zero sense imo. The sales indicate in new model coming out at some point. However, Scorpion MD 300 is still in production and is a fairly new model. That sale has been out for quite a while and they have restocked many times under that sale. Honestly, not sure why they have that on sale. Also the MD 200 is a whole another reel and made for different lure sizes than the 300. There could be a new 300 frame coming out too, which would be nice since the Tranx 300 is already 8 years old model, where this Scoprion MD 300 is based on. There are some models which I think they will wipe out of production completely like Chronarch 150 Mgl. Not in production anymore and don’t really see a good market for a ”plastic” reel when there are reels like Bantam for almost the same price. Sad nonetheless as they had a long history with Chronarch lineup… Also reels like the Calcutta (non-Conquest) are most likely going to be abandoned. Very limited market for round reels, especially to these ”sub-par” ones that are still fairly expensive. People will just go and buy the Conquest. Calcutta D-generation is a really old one too and was released I believe in 2012-2013 depending on the size.

The Metanium Shallow Edition kind of makes the Aldebaran MGL redundant, but I hope they come out with a new one keeping the SVS Infinity

@@THEREELTEST I feel like the Metanium SE is still a step heavier in class. It’s very comparable to the Steez Sv Tw 1000S Limited for example. The spool is 34mm so not the smallest either even though it’s quite shallow and 30 in capacity. Something closer to Steez Ct Sv and borderline bfs is needed from Shimano. Steez Ct is just 150g and we definitely want a 130-140g 30-size capacity with preferably closer to 30mm spool from Shimano too.

I'm not sure this new braking system will work as it should. Often everything looks good on paper, but not so much in reality 🙄...

Works quite well. I barely ever backlash on mine casting heavier things and lighter things. It's not a bfs but can cast some lighter stuff with the right line and spool. Distance in my opinion does suffer a bit which might be normal since it may be overbraked.
