More SHINee YEAAAHHH Shinee actually debuted in 2008 with very little promotion from SM - kind of a 'surprise debut' like NewJeans. In the early days they were prepering to debut as a hip-hop group but that idea fell through and they went into intense training to match to the level of skill that Replay requests. The song is absolutely timeless and I can't wait for u to get thru enough SHINee to watch the live performances of this song - and many onthers, as SHINee live performances are fenomenal and they are true vocal kings. As a refresher, Jonghyun(Kim Jonghyun) is the one with the red bandana around the neck and has a lot of parts and adlibs as the main vocalist, Onew(Lee Jinki) is the one with the cap and sweet voice, Taemin is the one with the bowcut and center in a lot of the group dance scenes and also wears a yellow jacket and has no lines in the song, MinHo(Choi MinHo) is the one with the REALLY ugly haircut and also had very little lines at the time, and Key(Kim KiBum) is the one that wears a green shirt. Fun Fact: Suho, from EXO, was supposed to debut in SHINee but ended up being cut off the line up due to an injury at the time. For the other members solos I'd recommend: JongHyun: singer-songwriter. he had truly mastered his art and performance. his voice and skills where limitless and it's not for no reason to this day he is held as the best singer the industy has ever had. I'm so exiceted for you to see more of SHINee and appreciate their capabilities, specially his. Check out 'Lonely feat. TAEYEON' to withness two legends at once, or 'She Is' for some colourful whimsy, but if your looking for spetacular vocals search up 'Heya' his cover of a spanish-language song called 'Y Se Fuera Ella', which was an official track in SHINee's 1st full album, also realised in 2008, which seems crazy to me that SM trusted a newly debuted 18 year old kid to sing and perform such a loaded song - he sang it live(can't remember whether at an early SHINee concert or a SM one) and it's actually a very popular act. For Onew: he has a very sweet voice and a gentle image as a singer. He didn't used to be very confident but has grown a lot thru the years. In 2015(i guees?) he had to go thru surgery and spend some time off to recover his voice, which he said 'became more of my own' after the procedure. I'd recomend 'DICE' for some synth, 'Lighthouse' for some vocals(check a live performance if you can), and 'Sunshine'(Live) for both. Minho: he doesn't have a lot of official solo work just yet, he was the last to have a solo debut, just last year. He has the lowest voice in the group and that means he doesn't get many singing lines as SHINee's songs are quite high. He does the rapping(and usually writes it himself) and the lows when they harmonize. One thing i will say is that he is incredibly hardworking, competitive and seems like one of these people that refuse to half-ass anything. He and Taemin are the ones that have displayed the most growth in SHINee and that shows. He's also a very energic performer and communicates the best with fans, always sweet and grateful. I'd recommend 'Heartbreak' and 'Chase'. Even tho they are great artists on their own, SHINee allows their talents to shine brighter as the members' strengths are displayed with great dynamics. So here are SHINee recs: 'Love Like Oxygen' since you're getting into early stuff. it was the group's 2nd ever single, right after replay. 'Everybody' for a taste of electronic/dubstep music. Also, it is one of SHINee's most difficult coreographies and it is AMAZING live, the performance elevates the song to a whole new level. I will warn u it can be a bit repetitive tho. It's the type of reaction you do both the MV and dance practice. 'Married To The Music' for some funk and musical vibes. also a perfect hallowen bop. And finally, '1of1' for some synth/new jackswing.

SHINee is my co-ult group. They have an incredibly varied discography, which I love. Yes, all of them have solo content, and it's all fantastic. Taemin was 14 at debut in 2008, just shy of his 15th birthday. Amazing talent in this group. Members are Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and Taemin. I'm really looking forward to you doing all of Taemin's discography. His growth as an artist has been so impressive, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

SHINee is my ultimate biases as a group and all five solo members work, so I am OT5, though Taemin was my entry into this SHINee rabbit whole with his Advice. It was something I never heard or seen before, and yet being a stan of other huge popular kpop groups before, that dropped. Ever since, none can compere to SHINee's standard of quality, originality, creativity and vocal lines! Since debute they amazed even seniors by their live vocals, each so distinguished but with incredible harmonies (of course, Taemin due to his young age it took time, but MAN what a vocal he has today!) Jonghyun and Onew said to have among the best, if not the best, vocals in the industry. And their concerts are on a whole other level! Looking forward to follow you more in your journey into SHINee, and if you like dub step, EVERYBODY is a MUST!! SHINee debuted as a 'contemporary R&B band' so Replay is very fitting - but their catalog has a lot of variety and SHINee is now known as a "experimental" group, much the 'f(x)' of boy groups. They keep challenging themselves and truly it seems that there is nothing they can't do.

Ah the Princes of Kpop... so glad you are checking them out. I feel that although they debuted back in 2008 with Replay this song was 1. An amazing debut, and 2. a song that really holds up over time and is still one of the best debuts in kpop. Of course they have great vocals, but I love groups that are really themselves. I was a Minho bias but am really and OT5 (Minho is still gorgeous). I think anyone that likes Kpop and doesn't like SHINee is a bit sketch. The current artist now (3rd and 4th gen) all look up to and admire SHINee.

Actually, since this was their debut song, it was release 15 years ago. It just got uploaded to YT in 2011. Onew & Jonghyun were 18; Key and Minho were 16; and Taemin was just 14. He couldn't sing at this point due to immature vocal cords. It upset him terribly. SM, at first, didn't quite know what to do with them. They were slotted as a Hip-Hop group, but then the CEO at that time, Lee Soo Man, heard them sing and changed his mind. So they were billed as an R&B group -- hence "Replay". However, it soon became apparent that they could sing anything thrown at them. So ultimately, they were finally billed as an experimental contemporary group. This is why we always say that there is something for everybody in their vast discography. They have literally done just about every genre out there. In fact they have said it's getting hard for them to find new things to do.

Jonghyun was first noticed playing guitar in his high school band, and was originally recruited for "visuals." Little did they know that one of the top KPop (if not any genre) vocalists was about to burst onto the scene. His legacy in SHINee, as a soloist, as a songwriter, and as a mentor to younger groups like EXO is incredible. Based on your comments, it seems you appreciate vocals. You're in for a treat with SHINee. Taemin started as a main dancer, but grew into a main vocalist through his interactions with Jonghyun and Onew (as well as hard work). All of them now have successful solo careers, and are coming back strong this year now that military service is finished. It's a good time to be a Shawol!

What a throwback!! They were so incredibly young here, wait until you hear the live version of Replay! Shinee are absolutely fantastic live, my favourite things to watch from them are their concert videos - like wow, what great performers, artists and entertainers they are. Even when I didn't particularly like a song (MV), once I hear and watch them perform it live, it becomes a favourite!! My personal recommendations Excuse Me Miss, Everybody, basically anything and everything from their Tokyo Dome concert.

Yes, Taemin is in the front and center a lot in "Replay" because he is the main dancer, so his job was to show off his dance skills. (Just like EXO's Kai, you will see that most main dancers are in the front and center in the majority of Kpop songs.) However, in their "Replay" MV, Taemin's dancing was particularly highlighted because he doesn't have any solo lines in the song, so his solo parts were taken up by big dance breaks. When Taemin debuted he was only 14 years old, so his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. Therefore, he was only part of the group harmonies where the other members could mask any of his vocal flaws. In the early days, people even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." It wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young. In the beginning, when he sang he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc. And, because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee, who are all 2 to 4 years older than him, and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. That's why in their first few songs you will see that he only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song. However, if he was really tone deaf, he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. Someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune. Taemin was chosen to debut with SHINee even though he may not have been ready vocally, because he was already such an amazing dancer, that SM wanted to highlight his dance skills, and they weren't overly concerned about his singing ability at the time. His job was to be SHINee's main dancer. But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons, and the other SHINee members -- especially Onew and Jonghyun -- spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. He worked so hard at singing that he would spend hours in the training room, and he says he would often get nose bleeds because he was so tired and was pushing himself so hard. It's also sort of an exaggeration that "SM wouldn't give Taemin vocal training." It wasn't that he didn't get any vocal training, he took vocal classes. However, because he was so young, and his voice hadn't fully developed yet, SM didn't want him to overdo it and force his voice to do things his vocal cords weren't ready for. But being the overachiever and perfectionist that he was, Taemin wouldn't take no for an answer. He took it upon himself to train his voice and, with the other members' help, he progressed really quickly. Although, it wasn't without risk. Hence, the fact that he would practice until he got nose bleeds, etc. Onew's and Jonghyun's vocal lessons were often done outside of SM's view and in semisecret. Jonghyun and Onew have always been two of the best singers in the industry that vocal coaches often use as examples of what you need to strive to emulate in order to be a great singer. Even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were vocal coaches and mentors to a lot of SM's trainees, including several of the members of EXO. Onew was one of only two people ever selected to be a trainee by Lee SooMan himself, and he was chosen at age 16 because of his impressive vocal abilities. And, Jonghyun has pretty much been one of the best singers in all of Kpop since his trainee days. If you notice, Taemin's style of singing, especially in SHINee songs, is a lot like Jonghyun. And the more you get into SHINee, you will see that Taemin fills in for Jonghyun whenever Jonghyun was unable to participate in a performance. And even today, Taemin often takes over the high notes and the parts that I think would probably have been Jonghyun's parts in their new songs -- he has now become one of SHINee's main vocalists. Therefore, if you watch one of their performances of "Replay" that takes place any time after their debut, you will see that Taemin has taken back his line in the song, and he sings just as much as the other members. (FYI: "Replay" is the song they sing the most out of all their songs. They perform it at almost every live event they attend and in every concert. So, there are hundreds of live performances to choose from. However, they hardly ever perform a song the same way twice, so you never know what you will get with each performance.) Jonghyun was the one that really took Taemin under his wing and helped him to become the singer and performer that he is today. So, many think that Taemin's voice emulates Jonghyun because he is the one that taught Taemin to sing. Jonghyun always has been Taemin's biggest supporter and the one that rooted for him the hardest and loudest out of anyone.

In other words, they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you, I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Noona neomu yeppeo is a term that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. Even during Taemin's recent appearance on The Manager reality show last month, the hosts asked him to sing "Replay" to them. This song makes all the women swoon. ***SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. Fun fact: SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular in 2008 when they debuted. I’m primarily the fan of another group - I mention that only to make the point that I’m not biased - but Replay is and always will be the greatest K-pop debut song of all time. They were so ridiculously young here. Onew and Jonghyun were 18, Key and Minho were 16, and Taemin was 14. (They were contemporaries of EXO as trainees but debuted four years sooner.) Personally, I think that was way too young, especially given the nature of the industry. Trainees were treated a lot worse then than they are now. But I digress. Replay! 🔥🔥🔥

When you see them standing still their formation is Onew and Jonghyun on Taemins right hand side and Minho and key on his left hand side. Taemin is always in the centre. As to solo stuff they are the first and only group to have each member go solo. Taemin was the first to go solo then Jonghyun, then onew, then key and finally Minho. Key's latest album will be out on the 11th of September ( 15 days away) Taemins will be out in October and Minus new song around then too. Onew is still on hiatus until his health returns
