In had horrifying experience, I have a s23 ultra an my display was having some issue. I went to the service centre in Nagpur. And there they told me that display will be replaced as phone is under warrenty. Then they ask me phone password while submitting the device. Also told me that device will be reset. Suddenly lots of questions in my mind poped up and I ask them. Do you ask password to everyone? They said a Big YES. I said what about my personal photos and office apps emails and everything. They said sir if you don't give how can we able to test the device. I laughed loud. Then I again said sir what about my data? They said "Sir we are authorised service center and we can't and we don't allow such things here. I again laughed alot loud. As I am a techy guy I was aware of samsung maintainance mode. Then I said I have maintainance mode. Then they say oh sir you can give your phone in maintenance mode. And I also asked them to not go reset my phone just for a screen replacement. I think this topic should be raised more widely. Only tech community is aware about their privacy. People give their information very easily to these service center in the name or authorised. My point is people are repairing our phone and no one can assume, what type of people will handle their phone at service center.

I don't know this but my experience with Samsung Service center is amazing... and dismantling sentence is cut abruptly but doesn't make sense... any service center don't do that they might void the warranty.

Don't forgot that Samsung took back all the phones when the battery was getting blasted. They have a very good service. If you want to give your phone to service center then there is a separate mode which locks all the data and service center operator cannot see it, It can only see a blank phone.

Had visited a Samsung service center few months back to replace battery for note 9. They asked to unlock the phone & kept it inside an enclosed room with their technicians for more 1.5 hours saying they ran tests on it. No idea what they might have done with the unlocked phone. This is really dangerous. Had to raise voice to get it back otherwise they would have to taken more hours to return it back.

My M34 phone speaker was not working, I went to SAMSUNG Jayanagar 4th Block in Bangalore. They took 3 hours fix the phone but they were not ready to provide any evidence that my Phone was fixed by SAMSUNG. They were not ready to share any service report or any kind of acknowledgemet to me that this phone was fixed by SAMSUNG.I requested them my times but they declined to share any any receipt.Not sure what they have done with phone.They can play around Hardware, software and our data.

Bharat if you are not awared of then let me aware you that Samsung has a feature called maintenance mode in phone which shows only pre-installed apps and personal data gets hidden. It they wanted data from us then they wouldn't have given this feature.

I had a Motorola phone a few yrs ago. 3 days after i bought it. It suddenly shut down. I took it to the service station and they looked at it and said " water damage". I had not been near water in the last few days. Didn't take it to the washroom or anything of that sort. I threatened to sue these mfs and they said they'll give me a discount on the repairs. Told them to fuck off and do it for free or I'm sueing their asses . Luckily they caved and did it for free.

Only thing I can conclude from this nonsense is: Samsung did not ask for data stored on mobile --Fair Practice by Samsung Asked data about device info, number of devices and number of visits -- OEM has to figure out Customer pain points, they will be able to figure out which product has issues and of what kind. I don't know what I'm missing here, but this doesn't seem like that big of an issue with me. I have a Samsung device and if I'm giving any data about my device to anyone, I'd honestly give it to the device manufacturer rather than anyone else (who, obviously has more data about my device than the repair guy anyways). Won't this help the company regulate/record my device maintenance data more accurately and properly? Besides, Samsung has a setting called "Maintenance Mode" which literally hides all your apps and data and only allows the repair person to acces the bare minimum functionality that is needed to verify the repair of the device, so in this case, Samsung literally has more data about my device than the repair guy.
