I don’t like the change because I could sell my tickets and make more money than I spent on playing side events.

As someone that can't go to every ycs and only goes to 1 or 2 a year depending on where they are held, I still think it's good because I can just keep my tickets from one event and save them for the next time so I can still get a better prize the next time I'm able to go. I'll never get a sheet or giant card like that, sure, but I wasnt before either. But now I dont have to spend all my tickets on prizes I dont love just because they're going to be invalid at the end of the weekend. I can keep them and get something from a fresh prize wall the next time so I'll have better selection AND the opportunity to get even more tickets. Also hurts the scalpers so that's a bonus. GOOD CHANGE!

I don’t know about sheets but the giant cards are usually 80-90 points and you get 8 points for winning an 8 man pool.

they need to change how many tickets you need for prizing, winning any 8 man side event is only 3 tickets for 1st and 2nd, winning utw and getting 2nd is now 15, 3/4 is 9, 5-8 is 3 and 9-16 is 2 and 17-32 is 1 😭

Whenever Konami makes any policy change, I always ask myself, "how is this going to hurt the player base and work in Konami's favor?" Remember in 2016 when Konami decided to include a super rare in every pack at the expense of Ultimate/Ghost rares being in the set? Good times. The giant cards were probably extremely expensive for Konami to make and therefore, by changing the policy, they wouldn't have to print as much anymore. Who really benefits from this policy change apart from Konami? The rich people who can afford to travel the world and play this game. Poor people who only go to events because it just so happens to be located in their state are going to play once and have to cash in their tickets on the same day or maybe worse, just hoard them until another YCS goes to their state. This will definitely cause Giant Cards to go up in price as they are now harder to get. Every thing Konami has done so far has hurt the community like how they are mandating people use Konami mats at big events. If Konami lowers the amount of tickets required to claim prizes, this change will have made sense, but, we'll see how things turn out.

Idea: Ditto For a local tournament, everyone has the same exact deck. The only variation is the side deck.

I'm honestly indifferent on the change. YCS Indy was cool because I finished X-2 got 20 tickets, went in on a giant card with some folks and made some $ which felt like a W, but at the same time I can see Konami wanting people to "earn" them and not just show up with money like you were saying. I think the value definitely goes up since they cost 120 tickets, that's a lot of events.

Selling tickets, anything under 20 is insane! This is also awful imo selling off tickets was the best part of side events

In general I think the change is good because now, as long as you go to big events you will at some point have enough points to get something cool. It might take 2 years or more but now there is this inevitability that you will get something

I wonder if they will do a raffle for the prize wall kindof like how pokemon does they're pokemon center at big events

You know ppl are still going to be buy/sell tickets.. thats not going to change. If anything the floor price of tickets will just go up from increased risk, so the wanted prize items expected value is increased of course pending an announcement on how many tickets you can get per event and changes to how many tickets a prize is worth

When can you start buying prizes with tickets? I feel like surely it’s on the Friday right? So someone could just come from previous events and store till they find something they really want and just get it before people that weekend have a chance. I understand you can now store them for an event afterwards but I feel like this could end up with a cyclical issue of no real incentive for that event as the prizes you want are gone and you are grinding for potential future prizes. Which doesn’t seem ideal for how konami tries to assert themselves. In before someone grinds multiple events and tries to buy all giant cards at one event

I am confused how does Konami know or the vendors for the tickets know that you earned them?

I’ve only ever been to 1 NAWCQ and I did meh at side events but it paid for like 70% of my trip. I wonder if side events are still gonna be profitable for normies

I think that U didnt know things have been workin like that in EUROPE for 4 years. 2 last EUROPEAN YCS was also raised to 45€ entry😂

Does this apply just to north america or is this thing a general change of rule and this will be effectively implemented even in europe?

I think these new changes are trash. I looked forward to events just to sell tickets. Konami really trying to kill their own game.
